Awesome family vacation

This was our first time in Maui. We booked a 2-bedroom 2-bath condo at Kihei Akahi through Donna Bender of MauiCalls. It was the best decision we could make. Donna carefully listened to our family preferences and promptly sent us options to consider. We were very pleased with the location - a few minutes to the beach, kids friendly beach Kamaole II, and so close to stores, restaurants and in general a great spot to be. Donna also gave us her Local Girl’s Guide to Maui to take with us. This was a helpful read before vacation, great tips and 'good to know' stuff, and helped us to schedule trips, restaurants and activities. Our condo was surprisingly equipped with all you need for cooking, laundry, cleaning. We love gourmet cooking and even used the oven to bake. We also used their BBQ near the pool (1 min walk from our condo) - apparently it is cleaned daily, was very impressed with the cleanliness, and met fellow Canadians who also were cooking their stakes! All in, an amazing week. Definitely Kihei Akahi would be our place when we decide to come back!
Great for family vacation

Great for family vacation. A dated resort that is showing its age but the location is great right across from a very nice beach. The facilities are nicely kept up by the staff who are very helpful. Difficult to get an exchange in.
Bad complex manager
Reviewed by rm114(Coquitlam, Canada) on Dec 21, 2019
Love Maui been going for years, every year for Christmas. Always same complex Kihei Akahi. We used several units over the years, some better equip than others. The condo is across the street from kamahole 2, lots of restaurants near by. This year the new complex manager is very bad for business. Extremely aggressive, no customer service. We rented four mopeds for 24 hrs, at the end of the day I wanted to be a good tenant and went to the office to advise we were keeping moped overnight in the visitor parking. As I walked towards the office the manager started to scream at me “ what are those things” “ I am going to ban those things. 4 of them running up and down the complex, their too noisy don’t want them here. “ I opened the door and kept it open for him trying to be nice. He gave me this look and said “ I am the manager” I walked in, he followed me and he started to shout at the staff “ I am writing a letter I want to ban those bikes.” I informed the young lady at the counter we had 4 ruckus and we’re going to park them in one visitor parking stall. Right away again with an aggressive tone the manager yielded $5 each for the night. In all the years we have been coming to this complex we have never paid for parking in the visitor lots. We picked up the 4 bikes at 9 am, we went to the condo, picked up supplies for a hike to the lava field. Came back around 2 pm to pick up beach supply and went back out until 5 pm. So all during day time. So we were not going to pay $20 for parking so we called the scooter shack and they told us we could park them at their shop for the night. To add insults to injury the next morning at 6:30 am, the manager was using a chain saw to cut branches on a tree near the pool. The complex quiet hours are from 10 pm to 8 am. We will go back just because the complex managers never seem to last long at the Akahi, so most likely never will have to deal with him again. Such a nice place and most of the condos rely on visitors. For the manager to have such bad customer service or Attitude does not help owners renting their units.
Unit 312 is Wonderful
Reviewed by Grace O(Yorktown Heights, New York) on Dec 09, 2019
Three of us stayed in Unit 312 and found it to be spotlessly clean and well-equipped. There was everything from beach chairs, beach umbrella, cooler, beach towels to a beautiful kitchen. The owner was great who quickly responded to any queries we had. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this unit. Be aware that Maui has restrictions on lighting at night for light pollution so this complex(as others) appears rather dark at night. Use your phone flashlight.
