The location was not far from the airport and close to many things. Check in and check out was seamless. The staff were great! Very friendly! The lobby was beautiful! Only complaint is that you can't adjust the a/c setting below 70° and the room was stuffy and warm.

Hilton garden inn kauai is on a beautiful location within a 150 yards of the beach and at the north side of Lydgate park. Gorgeous sunrises and quick beach access from a trail going out the back of the pool and Tiki bar and grill area. Housekeeping was amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Tiffany at the front desk is always smiling and will most likely remember your name. The concierge Teena is an absolute encyclopedia of knowledge for excursions on Kauai. If you do your own laundry plan in advance and get an early start. The laundry room is very small with difficult access and poor ventilation. If you are from the central U.S. be sure and plan on spending at least twice as much for dining out and 3 to 4 times as much for any alcoholic beverages anywhere on Kauai. If you’ve never had shaved ice you are in for an amazing treat!

The hotel is conveniently located next to the beach and about 2 miles south of a shopping mall including Longs Drug, Foodland, Safeway, McDonalds etc with a few local restaurants. Check out time is a little early, at 11:00 am.

We stayed in one of the villas with our three year old daughter for one week. The hotel is close to the airport and main road, but is very quiet. We rented a car and were able to drive to the north shore and the south shore- it was nice to be located in between and close to town. As far as the hotel itself, the restaurant had good food for breakfast (we didn’t care for the lunch and dinner menu that much, but the food was fine) and the outdoor tiki bar had some good dishes for dinner (try the bowl). The waitress at the tiki bar was so kind and she provided excellent service- which is nice when your three year old wants to chase chickens and only eat ketchup for dinner. Our villa had two air conditioning units that worked well, two ceiling fans, a small kitchen area with a sink, mini fridge, microwave, and table, a fold out sofa bed in the main room plus the king sized bed in a separate bedroom, a spacious bathroom with a combo shower/bathtub, and plenty of hot water (never a cold shower). Every day a friendly maid cleaned our villa 3112 until it was spotless- I believe her name was Dolores. What is nice about this hotel is it has two pools, one jacuzzi, and it is only a very short walk (5 minutes at most) through Lydgate park to the beach. Also, they provide you with beach towels to use at the pool or beach and will change them out for you. We didn’t see any mosquitoes while we were there. The beach at Lydgate is perfect for children as it is protected by boulders to create two pools, where some people snorkel, and there is also a lifeguard, shower, and bathrooms. We would stay here again.

If you like the East Side of Kauai you will love the HGI !

The East Side of Kauai is wet, windy, has traffic & tons of Feral Roosters! If that is what you are looking for the HGI is for you. As a Kamaaina Diamond Hilton Honors Member our family loves this place. To be fair the HGI is showing it age and it is subjected to the elements on this side of the island. Staff is friendly (special shout out to Bryson at the pool who found my sons new slippers), excellent location near Kapaa town, Wailua River & Lygate Park. Pros Food & Beverage - loved the breakfast with buffet access & also being able to order off the menu. Tiki bar below the pool was perfect for casual dining with healthy (& Gluttonous) options. Property- liked the layout & open air architecture. Pool & Hot tub were very kid friendly. Fire pit was nice in the evening & games on grass good for children. Room - lay out clean & functional Gym - great for business hotel Reserved Diamond Member Parking Cons This area of Kauai is very wet, the wind is usually onshore & the hotel is open air. The rooms can be musty from moisture- definitely have to air out whenever possible. Everyone hates resort fees, but at least you get something for your $ here (parking, drinks, etc).
