Just arrived back from a week stay at Beaches Ocho Rios. Stayed as a group of friends as part of a wedding. We had an amazing time. It’s perfect for families, plenty of entertainment and activities for the kids. The Waterpark, although not massive, is great fun. The inclusive Watersports are also fun. On the whole, the food was good. Breakfast in the Bayside (buffet) was really good with plenty of choice, however the lunch and dinner buffets didn’t quite live up to expectations.. quality was ok, but not much choice; it’s much better to go to the a la carte restaurants for dinner! (the French and Mediterranean were spot on and you don’t necessarily have to book). Lunch at the BBQ restaurant was decent, good choices and no complaints. We had a beach front room with unbelievable views, especially at sunrise and sunset. Rooms were basic, but roomy and clean. We did have a couple of issues with key cards that stopped working, but concierge sorted this easily. There were a few power cuts in the room too, which lasted for a couple of hours.. not ideal in the humidity and heat of Jamaica, but we were given a $200 credit (between 4) to use at the resort as compensation.. although this did take a bit of toing and froing with reception due to miscommunication on their part. The highlight of the resort is the customer service provided by the staff.. all very welcoming, polite and attentive. The staff wear badges basically saying ‘no tips’, so they’re not motivated by cash, rather just simply making sure you have a good time! Donavon from the front desk was the first and last person we came into contact with during our stay and he was a perfect example of Jamaican hospitality. Each time he bumped into us during our stay he would go out of his way to make sure we were having a good time, he’s a credit to Beaches! Finally, the wedding ceremony on the East Beach and the reception on the Venetian Terrace were perfect!

When I hear the word Sandals I expected quality and to be treated to the highest. Our vacation was anything but to say the least. The service of the employees was about 10% good and 90% rude. The food quality is about like going to a school cafeteria besides the 3 nice nightly restaurants. The only elevator 4 flights down kept breaking and having back issues I would not advise staying on the lower levels so beware. We are huge football fans and when we asked if they could change the channel at the pool bar the bartender said the batteries were out in the control they said they would have to get some. Three hours later and several times asking they said we are still waiting so we had to go up to main bar. We also had Butler service which we never got as well as top shelf liquor in room only to be told we couldn't get it only bottom shelf. We were there for a wedding with about 40 of us and other people had worst experiences than we did. Almost everyone had their key cards disable 5+ times during their trip and construction going on next to their rooms at 8am. The brochure did not match what we had purchased and will likely never return while letting people we know as well never to visit. We could have dealt with a few things but it was always something every day, vacation should be relaxing not complaining especially the horrible service. What's bad is that I could go on and on but it not worth it anymore.

2 week family holiday with 12 and 9 year old boys. Having experienced Sandals in St Lucia and Antigua we thought we would have a change from our Europe family summer holiday and try Beaches (part of Sandals) in Ocho Rios. Great decision as the whole family had a fantastic holiday. Rooms are comfortable and spacious and very clean. Food is excellent for an all inclusive, the Buffet is particularly good here. Nice sized resort with everything easy to get to and spotlessly clean and well tended. Loads of water spotless and activities to keep everyone amused. Kids particularly liked the water slides and spent most of the first week there! The staff are what really make this resort. Without exception they are all excellent though we have to shout out a few that went well above and beyond and really helped make the holiday special. Thank you to: Davian at the Neptune restaurant (the boys still miss you!) Gamalia greeting us with bigs smiles every morning whilst making our omelettes and always remembering our name and what we did the day before. Soltana for being happy and friendly at breakfast. Kevin M, Kevin G and Delano for looking after us at Bayside. Courtney from Guest Services (hope you’ve managed to get ‘5 in a row!’ Simone for finding us and looking after us round the pool Micah for great smoothies and always asking how we are boy Barman The Watersports team (especially the lady - sorry I can’t remember your name and sorry I haven’t turned up for work!! Shanique for looking after us at ‘out of the blue’ The trips we went on were: Blue Hole waterfall and tube river (best trip we have done! Stunning scenery, not too busy and great guides looking after us.) Mystic Mountain - chair lift, zips and bob sled. Great fun with a nice pool at the top to cool off in with great views. Dunn’s river falls - busy but worth doing - a bit of a hike up the falls but fun. Guides were great again. All 3 trips booked via the resort and well organised with great local guides. All in all, fantastic holiday, worth the long haul flight and the boys want to go back next year!

This had to have been one of my best trips ever. Not only did I get certified as a scuba diver by an incredible and patient instructor, Merville, but everyone at the Aqua center in some way made it very memorable. We went snorkeling with Sheldon and Yori and had a dolphin swim right through our group! On one of my dives with Merville we saw a large blue stingray. It was amazing! I used to be somewhat hesitant to go in the water but while there you couldn't get me out of it. It was warm water, clean beaches and friendly, helpful staff. The Entertainment staff made every evening so much fun. My mom brought my kids 2 years ago to get certified scuba diving and I was glad Merville and the rest of the staff were still there this year when I went. I can't begin to say enough great things about this location and the amazing staff they have there. Already planning to go back as soon as possible!

We stayed at this resort last week and although we had a great time they really need to do some major updates here. Let me start with the positives, the staff, they are out right amazing! They have Rushane aka "Tom Cruise" that is the kids entertainment. He was great! Extremely high energy and the kids all love him. In the restaurant La Parisienne Kameaka the manager went above and beyond to make sure that we were well taken care of and on my nephew's birthday she took extra special care of us along with Janice the waitress we had. One of the Sous chef's, Andre Simpson handled an issue that we had while dining in the Bayside restaurant and the checked on us a few times throughout our stay. In the Bayside restaurant Darrek was hands down the best! He remembered our drink preferences from day to day and brought them over as we were sitting. Althea in Bayside was really good as well. When we had dinner at Neptunes we had Prince as our server and he handled our group of 12 with ease. We went to the BBQ place daily and often our kids went without us and both Elizabeth and Shantolee took very well care of them. So as you can see, service here is top of the line. The food was very good, I only had 1 issue on the very last night with the way my steak came out but other then that it was good. We were not crazy about the desserts. The room that we were originally in was very nice, super clean and a great size. One of our family members were put in a room that was in a bad location and asked to be moved and they did change their room with no issues however they had the largest family and were put in the smallest room. We had an issue half way through our stay where we came back to the room to get ready for dinner and the room smelt like acetone or paint thinner so bad that the staff didn't even want to come into the room so we had to move rooms. It was extremely inconvient to have to pack all of our stuff and move after already being in our room for 5 days. Then to top it off they said we were in a room the same size (which it was a lot smaller) and that it had an upgraded view (which put us right above the bar so we could hear people all night). Although this situation sucked and did put a damper on my day I can say the manager on duty Courtney was extremely nice and helpful through the entire situation. So now let's talk about the resort, it's outdated and needs a lot of upgrades. There were areas where the walls were crumbling. The only area that has been updated is the Greek beach front rooms. He pool water had stuff floating in it constantly and I never saw someone cleaning it. The lounge chairs have cushions on them that are all stained from everyone sitting on them while wet. They do have a kids area where there are slides but there isn't much to do after dinner or when it rains. They have an "xbox" lounge for the kids and a room with table games but this area is not very big so when it was raining it was packed. It also smelt of mildew and there is no adult supervision there so you either have to stay with your kids or leave them there alone. They do have a lot of free things to do during the day like banana boat, kayaks, paddle boards, glass bottom boat tours and scuba diving. Some of the issues we had were one morning there was hair in the food (ok that happens) and on the last morning my husband went to order eggs and not one but 2 cockroaches fell out of the ceiling onto the counter where the eggs were being cooked. One landed on its back and stayed there and the other ran under the burner. So needless to say we didn't have eggs that day. Overall we had a nice vacation but I will most likely not go back to this particular resort in the future.
