Buckle Up! Over a two night stay I've prepared this absolute banger of a review that will tell you everything you need to know about Dreams Villamagna. Dreams Villamagna has every potential to be a 5-star resort. The hotel property is beautiful, rooms are some of the nicest I have ever stayed in, the service is 5 star, and the pool/beach is immaculate. The hotel also has a very convenient location to both downtown Puerta Vallarta and the airport. The location is a short cab ride to anywhere but not in the hustle of the downtown properties. Where the hotel falls short is in the current food offerings. I believe the issue is due in part to reduced number of hotel guests and in part to management being cheapos. On any one night there will be 1 restaurant open for dinner (maybe 2 if you are extremely lucky). During the morning and day, the only restaurant open is the grill with a very limited menu. You can get things like bad burgers, rubbery bacon, gas station nachos, Chuck-E-Cheese pizza, and slapped together quesadillas. I think the quality of the food could be easily fixed with some basic instruction to the cooks and a slight increase in ingredient quality. In fact, they could go ask the chef from the snack shack (not included with all inclusive) in the privately owned condos to help, and he could probably fix their food problems overnight. For the dinner restaurants, the dishes are hit and miss. We ate two four course dinners. We had two delicious soups, good wontons, tasty seared ahi and we also had some steaks that your dog would turn down. Dinner service was outstanding. Noe seemed like he wanted to serve us a five star meal and kept asking how we liked the food. If we were honest, Noe would immediately try to offer us a replacement dish. This man could work at the damn french laundry! Management is cutting him short. Drinks were watered down and very sugary. I asked for a mojito and it was mostly simple syrup. You get a few bottled Coronas stocked in your mini fridge daily. Aside from that, you can only get draft Modelo (light or heavy). The Modelo I suspected was 3.2% because I could not get drunk off it. You can ask for shots of tequila (or whatever) straight up, but I'm not quite in college anymore so I could only pound so many in the hot sun. The best bartender was the big guy in the lunch area bar and anyone working in the lobby bar. Our stay was only two nights for a close to our trip after we had ventured into a more real version of Mexico (ie eating street tacos in one of the northern towns). My girlfriend and I opted for the Preferred club package which was an excellent choice at a price difference of roughly $30/night. If you book the preferred club, you get ocean views on the 7th & 8th floor, room stocked with beers, and the real kicker is this wonderful man named Daniel who has a desk by the elevator on floor 7. Daniel will pour you drinks from his upgraded private stash, serve you light breakfasts & snacks. If you get locked out of your room, no need to go all the way downstairs because Daniel is right there to open up your room. Overall, we enjoyed our two-night stay. It was the perfect amount of time to be locked away in an all inclusive. Anymore would have been too much. We met several guests who were half way through their 7 night stay and were so sick of being there. They complained about eating the same menu 2-3 days in a row. For us, two nights was perfect and that's all we will ever do here.

Clean and Well Kept, Somewhat Aged and Too Much Closed

Overall, our stay was very nice here, mostly due to the amazing people who work at the resort. They are friendly and accommodating. The resort is very nice, more aged than some of the other's of this brand, but well kept. Highlights: -Fantastic beach! This is the best part of the resort, so if beach is important, this area is great. -Beautiful, large and comfortable pool area. Plenty of chair area near pool. -Bike use for an hour in area. -The people. Hard workers and friendly. Veronica who deliver's drinks in the pool/beach area is a rock star (amazingly hard worker). We also liked Philippe at the lobby bar, he was kind and engaging. -The spa wasn't fully open, but it was a nice space. Areas for Opportunity: -Right now, due to low level of travelers, there is just too much closed or not operating. Only the buffet is open for dinner and the beach volleyball net wasn't up. -I signed up for tennis twice, even paying once for the lights as was explained to me for an evening lesson, and no one showed up both times. It's a free lesson, but don't offer it if you're not going to show up (and we tip well so that was a loss for whoever didn't show up). -The way the bathroom in the rooms is set-up isn't great. Water gets under the door from the shower and soaks the floor and I don't like when there is not a real door on a toilet area. We believe you make of the vacation what you want. Friendly, hardworking people make a huge difference and that was great. We likely won't go back to that location, but we wouldn't recommend against it. We prefer the "Now" brand within AMResorts, so we would stay at Now Amber again if in the area as it fits our lifestyle a little more in design and since it is in town.

Nice property, good location, mediocre service except from a few of the very dedicated staff. Our premium server Ernesto always had us taken care of at meals, Hector the protector was a good concierge, and the hardest working server on the beach Gerrardo always had us taken care of!!!

The grounds were beautiful. The hawk was amazing to watch. The rooms were in desperate need of make overs. All liquor was top shelf and excellent. Food in the restaurants was delicious. The hot water was luke warm at best. Tiles on the floor moved as you walked. The jacuzzi on the deck did not hold water and you had to sit on the drain to keep the water in it. It was advertised that there were many restaurants but only 1 was open per night. We understand that due to the limited number of guests but that information should have been disclosed to the guests prior to arrival or even purchasing. Hated the fact that you had to carry your phone everywhere in order to scan the QVC codes in order to get a menu. My husband usually does not carry his phone with him and due to having to only use your phone to get a menu, he forgot his phone was in his pocket and jumped in the pool. Not a good day. We will try another Dreams and hope the rooms are more updated and more restaurants are open.

The hotel itself is nice along with delicious food and expensive drinks, but do not book your wedding there- coordinator was a joke, didnt respond quickly to emails, brought my own decorations but still didnt decorate the table how I wanted, also never returned our personalized cake server and knife, stated they never saw it- also some money was stolen from my wallet that I accidentaly left outside of safe. In adddition, I fortgot to leave a tip before our wedding night so the tub and the bed was decorated very minimal- so dissapointed that now these days everything comes down to money
