Shortly after getting our Covid vaccinations we decided to take a long overdue vacation and the Dominican Republic was one of the few spots open to Americans, so away we went! We opted for the Coral Level at Iberostar Bavaro and it was a great decision. The resort was beautiful, it felt like a tropical island village. There were four units to each building, two upstairs and two downstairs. Lots of beautiful plants and greenery which were well maintained and just walking the grounds day or night was an enjoyable experience. Coral Level provided several benefits including a private checkin area, bar and lounge, a beachside restaurant and a less crowded beach area. We also received some exceptional service from a gentleman named Worlkens who assisted us with specialty dining reservations and anything else we needed during the stay. All inclusive food can really be hit and miss and while this was better than most other resorts we’ve stayed at, they still have some opportunities for improvement. We dined at the steakhouse, the Greek restaurant and the Italian restaurant. Each of these specialty restaurants seemed to be short staffed and service wasn’t efficient. Most of the staff were kind and eager to please, and did their best to understand our English, as the vast majority are native Spanish speakers. The food though tasted a bit off and quality was less than you’d find in a traditional US chain restaurant like Outback or Olive Garden. The best dining experience was from the oceanfront restaurant El Faro, and once we found that, we ate breakfast and lunch there daily. It was never crowded and had fantastic staff. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this resort again. A few weeks after we returned from Punta Cana we decided to book another trip and this time opted for Sensatori because of their swim up pool suites and “gourmet” inclusive dining. It was more expensive than Coral Level and ultimately a let down. The property is beautiful and the food marginally better than the Iberostar, but in the event we return to Punta Cana, we’ll certainly choose Coral Level at Iberostar Bavaro instead.

For the BEST of all vacation experiences.

We just got back from staying at the Coral Level at Iberostar Selection. This resort is without a doubt has the BEST of all worlds to offer their guest. The wait staff is always willing to help with a smile. The EL Faro restaurant for breakfast and lunch is super fantastic. I have to say that all the restaurants on the resort are very good. They have just opened a new steakhouse "Brave" and they have some really great food to offer. The La Dorado just changed their menu and I might add for the betterment of all guests and the food is delicious and I highly recommend it. The Japanese restaurant is super fantastic and believe my you won't go wrong eating here. They've opened a new steakhouse restaurant "Brave" and it's also a wonderful experience - I suggest the Soho steak. The Mexican and Italian are very good as well. Eating at any of the restaurants will be a great time. They have a great buffet as well. If you're lucky enough to be a club member at Iberostar you won't find a better staff anywhere in a Star Prestige Club as the young ladies that work at Punta Cana. If you like having fun they have one of the greatest Star Friends group that you can find. They have the awesome JJ, Rosa, Bugs Bunny and Bam Bam. This group of Star Friends put a smile on anyone's face. And they also put on some awesome shows at night in the theater. Overall you will be hard pressed to find a resort that cares so much for their guests in making sure they have a fantastic holiday. The entire management staff does such a super job and the entire work force is to be cheered for. Again you'll never go wrong here in my opinion.

We are even members at the premiere club, and everything was mediocre. There’s really not much difference between coral level and non coral...all of the food is mediocre and at the restaurants, all they seem to do is cart in the food from the buffets. If there is a large group of you, they will almost never be able to seat you at any of the restaurants before 8:30. If you are planning a trip, spend the week prior meditating and getting ready for less than average food and service. It is so bad that we were celebrating my five year old’s bday, and their banner said congratulations and not happy birthday. The towel guy closes his towel hut at 4:30 and the ice cream stand closes at 4:30 too. They tell you in as rude a fashion as possible, ‘NO! We are closed!’ You don’t get treated any better as a coral level person. The best part of the trip is their beach. Make sure you bring your floatees for the pool as they don’t have those because of covid, but they will blow them up for you. Their rapid COVID testing that is included before you leave, is not really rapid. It takes 24 hours for you to get your results, so plan accordingly. It’s the Caribbean, but we did have at least two cockroaches in our room. One was huge!! Cockroaches are gross to me no matter where we are lol.
