David Morales at the ceviche bar and the main dining room went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. The food, the pool, the drinks, the room—what more could you ask for? Came here on a couples weekend and was more than impressed. Love riding bikes throughout property. Would recommend: 10/10

    Far exceeded expectations!!

I know this is a long review, but I wanted to be thorough! I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort! My fiancé and I decided kind of last minute to just elope on our honeymoon. We chose Blue Diamond because it was small, all-inclusive, and adults only. This place never let us down in any way. It's no easy task to arrange a wedding from a different country, but Haidee was incredibly diligent and devoted to making sure everything was covered for us.  From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. We were greeted with cool towels, plus a delicious juice drink and chocolates during check in. As part of our wedding package (which was free when booking a cenote room or higher), we were given an unexpected room upgrade, which turned out to be perfect. Our room was not ready, as we arrived early, but they held our bags in reception and took us to the oceanside restaurant for lunch. That first meal really set the tone for the whole 8 days/nights we were there.  Adela escorted us once our room was ready. She showed us around and helped make reservations for some of the included (but space limited) activities. Our palafitos room suspended over the lagoon was very large and beautiful.  It had not only a patio, but an upstairs sundeck with a shower for cooling off. Our upgraded room also came with a butler, which we didn't think we needed, but Julian was so, so kind and did amazing things for us. There was a celebration for Mexican Independence Day, and we wanted good poolside seating for the entertainment, so we asked Julian to help reserve a table. He came back and told us our table would be the one with the bottle of wine. He also acquired a mattress pad for the bed (which was very comfortable, but just a little too firm), brought in an extra fan for our room, and so much more. The entire staff here is amazing!  Their hand-over-the-heart greeting was always heartfelt and genuine.  You believe it. There is a real sense that they care about you, and it isn't because of tips. Being our first all-inclusive, we were unsure about appropriate tipping, so we asked. We were advised that we could just tip at the end of our stay, and that really took all the pressure off. Even though we didn’t tip along the way, the level of service never changed. The food at all three restaurants is both beautiful and delicious.  The breakfast and lunch menu don’t change, but there are enough options on it that you won’t get bored.  The portions aren’t huge, but this allows you to order and try multiple things in one meal. It’s definitely enough food!  There are upcharges for a few menu items, and there are more upscale wine and liquors available for purchase, but they were never pushed.  The servers are great, and very attentive. Leo was so much fun and really took care of us! Herminio and Gabriel are also wonderful. Salvadore and Carlos are great bartenders, with Salvadore especially going above and beyond.  Although the drink menu isn’t very extensive at all, they can make anything if you know what you want.  These guys work hard and are always in good spirits! Our wedding on the beach was absolutely perfect!  Although we were eloping, there were a few traditions that meant a lot to us to be able to follow, and that included not seeing each other before the ceremony.  Blue Diamond already had a solution. When you have your wedding with them, they offer a complimentary room the night before (based on availability) for couples who want to observe this tradition.  We had just expected it to be the two of us for the ceremony, so we didn’t need much. They played the song that we requested, brought out extra cake and champagne for the other guests we met who attended, and our concierge, Sergio, even volunteered to act as our photographer!  He used his personal camera, and even gave us an SD card full of pictures to bring home! To top all that off, when we arrived back at our room, we discovered a banner across our door that read “Honeymooners”.  The bed was covered in rose petals in the shape of a heart with an arrow, and even more petals spelled out “honeymoon” at the foot of the bed.  We also found that our outdoor tub had been filled with a bubble bath and more rose petals. It isn't warm water, but in the tropical heat it is similar to getting in the pool. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Seaweed was a bit of an issue due to winds that washed it inland, but it in no way detracted from our stay. We will, without a doubt, stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, stress free getaway!

Visited blue diamond luxury hotel with my husband for ten days. The hotel seems dated with touches of refurbishment. We stayed in a room on the lagoon near to the beach front. The room was spacious and kept immaculately clean with a very well stocked mini bar. Some furniture in the room appeared dated possibly left there by the previous mandarin hotel. The beach and pool area are of a high standard and the staff very attentive bringing water and drinks. Breakfast has an amazing selection and everything is cooked to perfection, try the energy and detox smoothies. The downside to this hotel is the Amber restaurant, no air conditioning with old fans dotted around making it very uncomfortable to dine. Also you have to pay extra eg steak £40 and as I didn’t chose to pay for wine off the menu and stayed with the all inclusive I was virtually ignored by the waiter and had to ask at the bar for my drink. Having paid over £5000 for my stay I don’t expect to pay extra for food and wine. Apart from this we had a pleasant relaxing holiday. The staff are friendly and attentive. Food in the beach restaurant by far the best.

    Couldn't be more dissapointed

I stayed at the Blue Diamond for work for two nights. First of all, there was a three night stay policy at the hotel as it was during a conference (which was not outlined anywhere), yet I couldn't check in on a Saturday and ended up having to pay and waste one night since I was leaving only after two nights. While the staff couldn't be nicer, there were so many things that are not up to par for what is called a luxury, five star property that is quite expensive. My air conditioner wasn't working, I was told to not open my patio doors as there are crocodiles and possibly snakes right outside in the water lagoon that wrapped around the property. It seems that the property is understaffed as I constantly had to wait for a golf cart driver to take me to my room. And there was a constant smell of mold in my room which I couldn't get rid of as I was told to not open up my windows or doors. Disappointing experience overall and I wish I stayed elsewhere since there were so many other options. Do better, Blue Diamond.

We stayed here for 3 days / 2 night while an overbooking issue was rectified at the sister hotel blue bay esmerelda. I will start with the only con which was certain members of staff. The first day we arrived everyone couldn't of been nicer and couldn't of done enough for us. Following this we cant seem to figure out what we did wrong but I'm guessing it was either because we were moved from another hotel or because we didnt tip - the next 2 days we felt like we were being cold shouldered and other people prioritised over us which didnt bother me but made my wife feel really uncomfortable. It was just small things like simple items such as drinks or menus taking ages to be brought to us and the staff being just completely cold, not coming to ask if we wanted a drink on the beach while going round everyone else etc etc. It may just be our opinions but we felt like it was very tip orientated as the people I noticed slipping money were very well looked after. We have absolutly no problem tipping but being British we generally tip at the end of a stay if they genuinely have been good not everytime someone brings me something which is part of their job - so ruined it for themselves really. Onto the Pros - the hotel, room and grounds were all beautiful and peaceful - good golf buggy service to take you to and from pool/beach - genuine alcohol served at the bars not local like some hotels - large choice of good quality pool side and beach beds - the food was all lovely however I could imagine it being repetitive after 2 weeks -our fridge was restocked everyday however other couples didnt - I felt the rooms were modern and good quality however we did have 2 mice come in one night however I do understand this considering the jungle surrounding - ability to rent bikes instead of using golf buggies Overall we did enjoy it but unsure if we would return as having nice staff is an important part of a holiday and in a boutique of this standard I would expect it as a given rather than a tippable extra.
