Great week but i would not return

We had a great trip overall. Food is good, à la carte restaurants are great but hard to book. The day we arrived almost eveything was fully booked so we had to take what's spot was left. The buffet is good with a lot of choice but some food are cold and it's hard to know what's what. Meats are either great or really bad. Breakfast buffet is very nice. The room was renovated but some lights are not working. Mini-fridge is not very cold. The king bed was hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. A lot of light in the room at night because of a glass wall in the shower that let all the outside light come in. Shower is leaking all over the bathroom floor too. Pools are really nice and we had a great time at the quiet pool. Drinks are ok and the taste will vary a lot depending on where you are on the resort. La isla bar in the main pool is the worst with lineups and cheap drinks. The beach is full of sargass with no beach bars an overall bad experience there. Shows at the theatre are great when they are not making you pay an extra 300 mx for them. There is a lot of extra that they are trying to make you pay for: any beer other than the regular brand, some meals à la carte, shows at la hacienda, dolphins, snorkling, etc. They are trying very hard to push their Privileged Club thing and will grab you for an hour and a half to push it by promising a rebate on their very expensive and limited choices of activities outside the resort. Service is excellent, workers are always smiling, a great experience with them. The resort is clean and room cleaning is perfect. There is no room service for food and drinks. We had a great trip with some high and lows. I would recommend the resort for the pools, the food and the service. I would not for the beach, the rooms and the privileged club and money extras.
Beautiful Resort

Bahia Principe Grand Tulum was one of the 4 BP hotels in Tulum area. You can travel from one to another by buggies. Guests who are staying at Grand Tulum can use the facilities at Grand Coba for free of charge including dinner. Guests can check in & pre book the a là carte dinners through BP App. The number of a là carte dinners you can book depends on your BP membership status & the number of nights you're staying. We were able to book 3 out of 7 nights we were staying. Although we checked in via the app, we were made to wait with others, so not sure what's the point in doing it beforehand. We didn't get the welcome drinks whereas we saw others were given welcome drinks. When I booked, I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday earlier in the month. They had happy birthday banner on the door and a bottle of drink & chocolates in the room. The room was very spacious, had plenty of room for our suitcases and a small balcony facing the garden with the Carribean sea view. We spent 3 whole days at the resort just relaxing by the beach and walking around the beautiful gardens and the ground. There are plenty of sun loungers by all 3 pools and by the beach. Yucatan buffet restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner with variety of food as well as live cooking stations & kids section. Gets busy during breakfast & dinner. Although the food & service here was great, I would have liked the the food items labeled better for vegetarians & vegans. We also had lunch from the Beach Food Truck. Ordering was easy, came quick but not the best food I've had there. We had lunch from the pop up food truck, where we had to queue for a long time as there was only 1 person serving and he would disappear midway to get more food or plates. So didn't try again. We had dinner at 3 A là carte restaurants and the food we had in them were first class. They made sure our dietary requirements were met. Hindù Restaurant Thali transports you to Far East with its fusion food. It is located in the Tulum Grand complex, whereas the Mediterraneo and Mikado are in Coba complex. We originally booked Mikado for Teppanyaki, but they let us change last minute to a là carte. There are daily programmes like bike tour, yoga, dance lessons & aerobics offered as well as free paddle surf, kayaks, tennis, catamarans for hire, snorkeling for a limited time each day to the guests. Finally, the shows. We watched 2 shows, both for extra charge, but both worth the money. "Origen" is a unique and fascinating show in which a world of colour, culture and tradition comes to life by dancers and acrobats. 'Fiesta Mexicana' takes place at Dona Isabel Hacienda, which includes food & games as well. Guests can learn about Mexican history, traditions & their beliefs through dance, drama & music. We had a fantastic week at BP and would definitely recommend this to my clients.
Home away from home

We keep coming back because we love this place and the people so much - 7th visit in the past decade! Eduardo and Fernando in the reception area. Victor at the towel/water excursion desk. Edwin in the buffet. The entertainment crew including Alejandro, Edgar and Gretel. They each recognize us from a year ago! And every resort employee who tirelessly says Hola while working hard to make this our paradise. These people have truly become our friends. Of course, we love the energy in the main pool area. The twice daily very inclusive beach volleyball games. I had no trouble finding multiple 5km+ routes to run throughout the extended property. The buffet was excellent, as always, although pineapple did seem scarce this time. The a la cartes are all fantastic in decor, food and service. And our room was spectacular. In-resort golf cart transportation system seems to have grown, a real plus. The beach is nice for walking, but certainly too rough and rocky in most areas to enjoy swimming, aside from the sheltered cove at the Akumal end of the resort. The shows are repetitive from year to year, but entertaining nonetheless. And don't miss the late night fun at the hacienda, casino for us and disco for our teenage daughter!
Good visit for first timers

My wife just returned from a week at BP Grand Tulum and we loved it! The room was fine - clean, comfortable, but not quite as large as at other resorts. We rarely used housekeeping. If we asked to exchange a couple of towels, the housekeepers were very accommodating. The buffet food was excellent! There was always a great variety to satisfy anyone's palate. One word of advice to future visitors: do not leave your food unattended. Your plate will be picked cleaned when you return and I don't mean from the staff workers. (The dining area has a lot of birds and some coatis, unfortunately.) We ate at only one a la carte restaurant - Don Pablo. That was, without a doubt, the best food we had at any of the many Riviera Maya resorts we visited. We cannot recommend that restaurant high enough! The only drawback was the beach. If you are an ocean swimmer, you may consider Luxury Akumal instead. Grand Tulum's beaches were pretty rocky and almost inaccessible. It is not the resort's fault; just the way nature's forces come into play. We are already planning on a return trip in December. Hopefully the winds will not be as strong. (The almost constant, southeast winds made the surf extremely rough.)
NOT TO MY EXPECATION.

The rooms were clean, but it had a funky/mold smell. No activity during the day nor night. No good latin music. The food was no good, and lastly all drinks were water down. Oh that time share nonsense needs to stop. Employees coming after us and nagging us for 90 minutes!
