This hotel represents excellent value for money. If you want a really chilled out place with great staff at an affordable price then this maybe the place for you. We have been lucky enough to visit Antigua 5 times over the last 9 years or so and have stayed at different resorts every time. Oceanpoint will never match Galley Bay for example but then that’s not comparing apples with apples as the monetary saving would be substantial. We have read the negative reviews on Trip Advisor and I think these are overly harsh considering the price point. Yes, the place could do with a lick of paint in places but if you want to be hyper critical then this isn’t the place for you. Pros - super staff, from the waitresses to the girls who organise the excursions, really friendly and helpful Food, good choice and excellent authentic pasta Family vibe, the staff eat together in the restaurant and can be found at the bar in the early part of the evening for a chat Margot the dog, we loved her! Cleanliness of the rooms, yes they are a bit tired in places but they were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay Cons - On the Atlantic side of the island so the water is nearly always cloudy which makes snorkelling next to pointless and fishing with lures pretty pointless too! A lick of paint around the resort would make all the difference for example when you swim under the bridge the paint is flaking off and looks old. Beach towels are not great and they did runout on a two occasions Overall this hotel is a nice place to have as a base with good food and great staff. We would recommend hiring a car to see the rest of the island and maybe spend an afternoon or two on one of the many picture postcard beaches on the Caribbean side.

The one good thing I would say about this hotel is that the staff are excellent. The room was old but clean. If you stay here dont do it as an all inclusive because it is not worth it. And dont stay here if you are coming for the beach because it is not worth it. We were told by a taxi driver that most of the people at the hotel leave during the day to go to other beaches on the island and I can see why. Only stayed here for a couple of days then moved to another hotel that had beautiful beaches and more reasonable food selections. Would not stay here again. Nothing to do here at night.

After visiting in 2018 we booked again for 2019 and arranged to get married at Ocean Point. Everything about it was incredible. Let's leave the wedding aside for a moment. If you're going to leave a 1 star review because you forgot your travel plug or a wobbly floorboard you shouldn't be allowed on trip advisor. People jobs depend on being objective so let me right some untruths. All the food is fresh, you definitely won't get charged extra for lime in your drink. The choice of food is great. The rooms, pool, gardens and 3 private beaches are cleaned every single day. We had bands, Mr Wonderful and fire eaters as entertainment. It's a fabulous place it really is. The reason you don't get the A La Carte menu in all-inclusive is because you aren't paying A La Carte prices. We never found the all-inclusive food wanting in any service. Although we had the basic package for our wedding Ocean Point went above and beyond everything we expected. It was unforgettable and we'll be forever grateful. Finally the staff. They are amazing, they really are. The people that tend to holiday there are all really nice too. A super friendly place. Highly recommended.

Stayed in sea view room 307. Lovely 3? hotel right on the beach. Excellent cleanliness in room and all around hotel, including pool. All staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Restaurant had a good large buffet selection for all inclusive, and bar has decent selection of drinks. No evening entertainment, except for occasional karaoke :-/ All inclusive drinks include a variety of juices and soft drinks, tea, coffee, draft beer, wine, regular rum, vodka, gin and whisky, 13 different cocktails and a few alcohol free mocktails, which was fine for us. Looked like the resort was less than half full, which may have contributed to the feeling of great service from the staff; when it's busier the staff may be more stretched and have less time for you, although they may take on more staff then. Very little in the local area near the resort, so if you're looking for a lively holiday then this may not be for you. However, we found it a lovely quiet relaxing place to chill for a week. There is birdsong during the day, and frog chirping at night – that goes with the territory; didn't bother us. Beautiful flowers around the resort labelled. Nice shaded chill out gazebo that catches the sea breeze. Considering the hotel is rated 3 star, the restaurant and food was good. Pretty much the same, but wide selection of food each day. Fruits, cereals, vegetables, fish, meats, bread, rice, pasta, etc all to choose from. Room aircon unit looked fairly new and worked well. Sliding door to balcony felt like it had no runners and lock was very awkward to operate. Water pressure in shower rather mediocre, and only lukewarm. No bath. Otherwise small, but perfectly well formed bathroom. Cable + quite new looking 32 inch flat screen TV that worked fine. Internet fine for email and Web browsing. Streamed YouTube with not too much buffering. Fridge in room is small; big enough to store a few drinks. Electrics could do with a refresh. Standard hotel style combination safe, which worked fine, big enough for a small laptop computer. Visibility in the sea was medium, not great, not terrible. There was a lot of seaweed in the bay. Didn't see any fish or other critters in the sea, but didn't go out far. There are 3 or 4 cats at the resort, which we liked, and which no doubt were responsible for no sign of vermin in the resort. One cat tended to hang out near the restaurant and was quite vocal, which many guests found cute, and no one seemed bothered by, but YMMV. Airport is nicely air-conditioned.

    We moved to the Verandah

Oceanpoint has two good things 1. The staff are so friendly and 2. there are cats. We booked this hotel based on the info in the Westjet book and website. The pictures looked great and the description made it sound so nice. When we got there that was another story. The hotel definitely needs some TLC. Paint needs to be redone, some floor boards in the restaurant are unsafe and it just doesn't look like the photos. Still cute, but could be better. Then there is the food. We arrived on a Sunday and changed hotels 2 days later. There is only the buffet available and I felt like they were just rewarming things from the night before. One night there were several pastas, potatoes and rice dishes no no other real food, the next night it was almost the same but they had a bbq which was inside the small restaurant and made everywhere hot and smelling of propane. My burger was still very pink inside so pasta again for dinner! The description on the Westjet site says unlimited domestic drinks. Every place that I've been to it means you can get most drinks made but only with the local alcohol. That's fine. Except at this resort it means only the few items on the list are available. Want a strawberry daiquiri? Nope it'll cost extra. Want a rum and coke with splash of lime? Nope the lime makes it a different drink and that'll cost you. The safe has to be opened with a key. The first night we used it several times and suddenly it would not work. We called the front desk and each time we were told use the key...we told them there was something wrong with the safe itself. Turns out it was broken and held our stuff hostage until finally someone could drill a hole to open it. Once that happened it wasn't usable and we had to spend the day carrying it all around. I had also messaged the resort on Facebook about the voltage. My mom has a cpap machine and I wanted to make sure it would work. The person who was running the Facebook messenger said 110v. We didn't bring out plugs or adapter because of this answer. Turns out nowhere at that resort has 110. Maintenance did lend us an adapter but the warning light on the powerbar saying unsafe wiring. The beach is very small and there was no one really there. Same with the pool. Then we found out that the resort mostly caters to Europeans and they prefer to go to other beaches while they are on their holiday. It explained the atmosphere and the food. We ended up being moved to the Verandah which was the best thing we did!!! One thing about this place was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and nice. They were really great. It was so nice to see the kitties too. They don't really want to be pet but they were fun to see where you would find them next
