Great Experience

Great beach, wide with palapas, bar, and very little seaweed. Next to a large Dreams resort with more restaurants. Our favorite meals were lunch at Oceania (Santiago and his teammates remembered yesterday’s order!) and dinner at Himatsu where the seafood curry was exceptional (so were Ruben, Daniel, and everyone else.) Early AM yoga was a good idea and the teacher Julie and the view made it even better. The gym was small but adequate. The only improvement needed is the AM pool soundtrack, which is depressing rather than relaxing.
Spring break destination
St_LouisBonbon (St. Louis) on Mar 22, 2024
Good destination for spring break trip with high school or college kids. Be prepared for nice accommodations, beautiful setting, great hotel service but poor taste in food and weak watery drinks. As long as your expectations for culinary are not too high, then you will enjoy this destination.
Nice Family Resort - Beware the Check-In Sales Pitch
JxP13 on Mar 22, 2024
The property is nice with reasonably good food. One nice play ares for kids and a couple water slides. The Staff is great and attentive. Restaurants can get busy, plan accordingly. Restaurant dress code applies to most so pay attention. Weddings blast music on the property until well after 10:00, which may be challenging with young kids as you can't avoid it. Room service was surprisingly good. When checking in, they will usher you aside for a sales pitch to spend more money for some program to earn benefits and future travel perks. Frankly it seemed low-class and ruined the initial impression of the resort, dampening our excitement upon arrival.
First All-Inclusive Experience - Wedding

Went to Dreams Playa for a wedding and it was my first time at an all-inclusive resort. You're greeted with a glass of champagne when you arrive and a beautiful view of the property from the lobby. We had a garden suite view, which is one of the cheaper rooms, but it was a nice room and we even had a slight view of the ocean from a distance. The property is very clean and the staff are very friendly. If your family or group is split among buildings, you do need to walk around a lot and/or navigate the somewhat hidden elevators. It is family friendly so you do see a wide age range of people enjoying the facilities. Be wary of spring breakers and other high school/college trips that may be occurring. The resort isn't too party heavy compared to other hotels in Cancun's Hotel zone, but you will get some loud music and drinking during the day and some partiers in the Lobby bar at night. But there are some activities and facilities for children, and we also saw some older guests enjoy the pool activities. The food was okay. The buffet does the job every morning, but I wish there were more lunch options around the property. Tides for lunch was good and casual. The dinner options are fine, but it can be quite busy and you need to time it right so you aren't waiting for an hour for your party. We really enjoyed the French restaurant. I think it's worth stopping by the adjacent Secrets property to try out their restaurants. The portion sizes at some of the restaurants could be better (Maris for example only give 2 coconut shrimp for a starter lol). As for the wedding, my friend had reserved the bridal suite in the spa area for getting ready. It was a large bridal party, so I wouldn'y rely on that room for getting ready for everyone. They also didn't have any clothing racks to hang dresses and robes, which we wish we had access to - only a few wall mounted hooks. If you are bringing in hair/makeup people, the setup could be better and I would advise bringing an additional table surface and lighting if possible. The wedding coordinator and staff were very helpful otherwise. The wedding was in the central garden and it was super fun and beautiful!
An Overall Review of the Resort
Jessica K (Kansas City, Missouri) on Mar 20, 2024
Our family just returned from a one-week stay at Dreams. This review will be honest and will cover a lot of things. It will also be a bit long, as I will cover many aspects of the resort. 1. The food is great! For an all-inclusive resort where thousands of people were staying, it was impressive, especially at Fusion and L'Etoile. If you'd like a reservation for Hibachi at Fusion, you have to get on the "Inclusive Colection" app on your phone right at 1:00 p.m. each day, as they fill up for each night within the first 1-2 minutes. 2. Speaking of the app, it was helpful for various things, including a list of the daily activities. It also containst he menus for each restaurant. 3. As a family of 4 with children who do not sleep well in the same bed, we relied on the sofa sleeper bed for one of them each night. Upon opening it up, there was a lot of rush on the mattress. We realize it is extremely humid down there and nearly impossible to prevent this from happening. The front desk asked if we woud prefer a complete overhaul of our room, including a new mattress for that, but we opted to pack up all of our stuff and move to a different room that became available that afternoon. We felt taken care of and were pleased to be offered that solution. 4. Upon check-in, while there were at least 4 people at the front desk, no one looked up to greet us when we arrived. One guest asked if she could ask a simple question before we checked in and, thinking our check-in would take longer, we let her go before us. It took a few minutes and no one else offered to help us check in even though there was only one other guest being assisted at the time. Additionally, immediately after we checked in, we were approached by someone whom we thought would be guiding us to our room. Instead, we were given a pitch about the Hyatt vacation club or something, promising us $350 to use at any Hyatt resort. The woman pitching us was lovely; however, we were tired and hungry after travleling all day and really just wanted to start our vacation and not attempt to be "sold" on something within the first 30 minutes of arrival. Additionally, when we went to the front desk to let them know about the rusty mattress (see #3, avove), the person we spoke with attemped to sell us on it again. Needless to say, this was extremely off-putting, especially considering the fact we were there with a complaint/issue. 5. Overall cleanliness of the resort is good, though not as well-kept as some other places we have stayed. This isn't a deal-breaker, just something we noticed. Again, we realized is a big challenge to maintain a large property with thousands of guests, some of whom simply do not make the short walk to a trash can to throw something away. 6. Since we were there over Spring Break, it was crowded, which we expected. The resort is plenty big to accommodate that. There were, however, a lot of high school students there, who were rowdy (again, to be expected). They basically took over the bars for several hours per day. If you don't want your younger children (ours are 11 and 9) around that type of thing, maybe do not go to this resort over Spring Break. 7. Overall, the service we received was wonderful. We especially appreciated Julio, the bartender at the Sand Bar, and Gabino, one of the beach servers. Alberto was another great server on the beach. They were fantastic and added a lot of fun to our trip! Jonathan, our server at L'Etoile, was great, too. 8. Our family enjoyed the included bike tour one morning, which was a lot of fun and doable for any person who can ride a bike. We did not partake in any of the other activities. 9. Unless you have Preferred Club status, the only restaurant open for breakfast is the buffet (Or you can get room service, which took over 90 minutes to get to us one day.) If you are in the Preferred Club, you can also go to Maris or the Preferred Club itself. 10. The water slides are great! We enjoyed those almost each afternoon we were there. 11. The resort has dolphins in an area off the beach and while we did not purchase a time to swim with them, you can see them jumping from the beach, which is a lot of fun to watch. This was a great surprise for us! Despite a couple of things that weren't ideal, our family had a great time and enjoyed the week away.
