Marco, our butler, made this a special stay!
Doug B on Mar 23, 2024
Marco, our butler, made a huge difference in our stay. He went above and beyond to make us comfortable. I would not want anyone but Marco. Super friendly. Responsive. And professional! Rose petals. Dinner reservations. Friendly face each and every day. Thank you!
5 star wedding, 1 star booking experience
549jeremye (Nashville, Tennessee) on Mar 22, 2024
My wife and I got married at Le Blanc in March 2024. I am torn with how to rate the experience because the stay itself was 5 stars, but the booking experience was atrocious. If the scheduling and booking was even mediocre, this would be an easy 5 stars because the stay was that exceptional. We booked a year in advance and had 50 guests come to Cancun to celebrate with us. Pros -From the moment you walk in the service is attentive and outstanding. Leslie recognized us instantly and told us that she would ensure we would have a memorable experience, which we did. The staff is personable and anticipates your needs. Especially true of the floor butlers, Bilyjoel was superb. -The food is really good. We did Italian, French, and the Japanese restaurant. Many had items that I would pay for in Nashville. The coffee/chocolate shop is a really nice touch. -Alcohol options are mid-top shelf and the bartenders at Cavo made really good drinks. We had a lot of fun doing karaoke and playing pool. I wish I could remember the bartenders names to call them out because they were that good. -They, like every all inclusive, offer upsells for alcohol options. We actually took advantage of them because the Veuve and Clase Azul repo were very fairly priced. -Rooms are nice, clean, and the toiletry products are Bvlgari. They have 4 decent liquors in the closet and plenty of snacks and drinks. -Beach is beautiful and the two pools are very nice. The side pool was always quiet and relaxing. -Spa was very nice but also very expensive. -Room service was perfectly timed, always. They have the system figured out. When the butler sees you leave for the pool or the beach, they send in the team. Service comes at least 2x a day. -The wedding itself was on the beach and Elisabeth did an excellent job setting expectations and having everything ready and on time. We had a wedding planner with us, which helped, but Elisabeth made her job easy. The location is beautiful and we got some amazing photos. -Our welcome and post wedding receptions were very well done. The food was solid and the staff was fortunately the same for both events. Roger, Gerardo, Ezequiel, and Alejandro were everywhere, all of the time. You would think that you needed something and there it was. Very strong team. Cons -As previously mentioned, we had 50 guests and booked out a year in advance. We got a room block that guests needed to book through in order for us to get credit for their stays (we had to hit a minimum number of rooms to get credits that were applied for a free welcome reception, churro truck, etc). The website for our guests to book was down multiple times and for months at a time. Because of this we had some guests book through the website and they refused to give us credit for them. -The room block doesn't give you a discount or better rooms. -3-4 months before the wedding, they sent out an email to all of our guests and advertised a 30% discount from the rate they all paid for the dates we had our wedding. Basically, our guests had to decide if they wanted to save $1-2k in room fees or stay on our wedding block so we could get credit. When we told Le Blanc, they basically told us to kick rocks. -When we tried to escalate and get it sorted, they were incredibly slow to respond and only seemed capable of answering one issue at a time. It would take 2 months to get 3 items resolved. Our emails would go unanswered for weeks or a month at a time, to the point where we were worried in December that we weren't locked in. -They made zero concessions on anything (see:guests that booked through their website and refusing to give credit) and nickel and dimed us on everything. They had two choices for every kind of vendor one would need for a wedding like a photographer, officiant, DJ, flowers, photo booth, sound and lighting. We didn't like their choices for photographer or DJ and we had to pay *thousands* of dollars to use our photographer and our DJ. We hired a local photographer months in advance (shoutout to Heber Moran) but our DJ was a friend who stayed at the resort for 4 nights and we had to pay 2k for the privilege of having him play music. Absurd. The entire billing process and understanding exactly what we were paying for was very opaque. -Our wedding planner has planned 100+ destination weddings for celebs, NFL players, etc (she is a friend and hooked us up) and she said Le Blanc was the slowest and worst experience she has ever had with a destination resort. -The only on resort complaint was that there was a persistent dragging sound very early in the morning, every morning. We asked to move rooms 2 nights in and they did with no fuss. We moved 8 rooms down and 2 floors up, and still heard the dragging. Very strange. I would go back with my wife alone or with other couples. It really was one of the best weeks of my life and Le Blanc delivered and made it happen. I would recommend booking a wedding or large event there unless they make serious changes because it was a total mess and incredibly stressful.
