This hotel is in the perfect place to explore Kauai. Mid way between the north and south so great place to be based. The hotel itself is a bit tired and in need of some upgrade. The resort fees are a bit expensive for what you get. That said, it is clean, and staff are pleasant. The pool nearest the beach was dirty and in need of a good clean. Loads of chickens to watch with cute chicks running about. Good quality toiletries and filter coffee machine in the room with ample towels and beach towels to use. Good value buffet breakfast (with voucher).

We feel ALOHA spirit from all staff. So friendly! Great ocean/pool view with linai. Rental car a must for this location. Drive to poipu beach/spout horn/lighthouse. Catamaran/Napali coast. Hoopi Trail & MORE MUCH MORE to see and do! This is a good Central location from which to branch out on adventures and it is near the airport. Beach is not swimmable, but, it is great for sunrise photos. And, to just sit and relax..enjoy the view. Swim at poipu public beach about 20 minutes away. Pillows are soft. Bring your own if firm is needed!! Hubby's neck hurts bad from soft pillow! Room Coffee tastes like plastic. But, they do have a Starbucks in gift shop. They also have a restaurant which is very high priced. We won't eat there for that reason. We just go into town. Room has a refrigerator, but, no microwave. There is a $50 a day resort fee. Also, bring extra cash to tip valet drivers unless you want to walk a ways from parking lots IF you can find a space to park. (About a 3 minute walk). I recommend the management set out kona coffee in caraffes in the lobby so you could sit in the nice foyer and sip good coffee and relax. I came here for the kona. Haven't had a cup of it, yet. Maybe the coffee plantation would give the resort samples to serve here since it would be good advertisement for their tours. I dont know. I just need KONA coffee. We do have soft clean comfy bedding in a Nice king size bed. We have a very small linai. But there are 2 plastic chairs out on it. Bathroom is very pretty. Nice shower. I love the Hawaiian Tropic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and soap bar provided. Pool towels are provided. Pools are beautiful. If it weren't for the pricey restaurant, we might spend all day in the resort one day of our stay. They did give us $5 off coupons...but, breakfast is $19.99 buffet I think. So that is still $15 per person. Plus, I must have coffee in the mornings. I stressed a little over the plastic tasting room coffee and the lack of a coffee I like. I don't like starbucks. But, we found a trex with great coffee near walmart and McDonald's. I like to try new places when I travel...but, I would probably stay here again. Our last condo we stayed at here in Kauai was less expensive, had swimming at the beach, and a full kitchen. We cooked and went out, both. I like the pools better, here. And, they have a snack bar/bar here, too. Not sure its prices. I imagine steep like restaurant. But I don't know. There is a Safeway in town about 10 or 15 minutes away depending on traffic. And a walmart. Plus fast foods. So you won't starve if you don't want to pay for the resort restaurant prices here. Just drive to town.

It’s a cute resort in the beach. Mid size and easy to manage. Poor amenities in the room or hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms are outdated and old. Stains on room carpet and furniture. Need new carpet-had to wear slippers in the room the entire time- I was afraid of being in contact with the dirty carpet. Pools are mid size and good for families. Nothing good to eat on the premises or places within walking distance. No free bottled water. Thin walls-can hear conversations from next room and hallway. Each time someone closed their door, our room shook. Though I’ve never been to a Holiday Inn, I’d imagine this is comparable.

Nice property, but getting a little dated.

First off, very polite accommodating staff! I asked for upgrade availability since my wife is retiring in a month, and got upgraded to a king ocean view ( supposedly a honeymoon suite ) with a lanai. The hotel has changed names and ownership since we stayed 5 years ago, didn't realize it was the same place until we turned off the highway. The rooms were cleaned at a reasonable time each day.It is kind of in the middle of nowhere , but I between Lihue(airport ) and Kaap'a, so it's not a far drive to either place or the more modern business area where Walmart and several fast food options are located. The traffic can make a short drive take 45 minutes if you are heading In the "wrong" direction. The facility is clean, although the room carpet could be shampooed , but that is pretty typical of a beach location. The food is fairly expensive, but the sandwiches we had at the pool bar were good and large. The whole resort fee hacks me off , but the is everywhere in Hawaii thst we have ever stayed. The bad thing is , at least our bed and pillows sucked! Absolutely horrible. I didn't get a good nights sleep the entire 14 days we were there! There is a refrigerator, but no microwave . Upgrading these items would make a much more desirable place to stay! Valet parking is free, but you can self park if desired(tipping the valet staff adds up quickly)-but it can be a walk if the parking lot is getting full?the pool areas appeared neat and clean with ample seating and umbrellas. There is a sand beach, but not swimmable, unless you are a really strong swimmer! Plus there is a rock area just in the water that the high waves crash over . So the beach is basically for views and sunbathing. Over all , I would stay again, if the beds were upgraded! It was reasonably priced compared to other options, but it does pay to shop around , with as much lead time as possible, I saw rates fluctuate at least $50 per day.

We booked for a week at what we thought would be a good resort. We were very disappointed. The resort needs alot of work. In our room the wallpaper was coming off the walls in many places, furniture was chipped, overall tired. Overall they are letting the resort go. There is alot of rust coming through the paint on the outside of the buildings. Many of the fixtures around the resort are rusting and look bad. The equipment in the fitness center is rusted, some of them do not work and none of the TVs work. Not even the one on the wall. When I asked the staff about the TV situation they said they would look into it. I asked three times during the week and received the same response. They did not seem to be interested in doing anything about the situation. They seemed understaffed. We tried eating at the bar an told we would have to pick up our drinks and food ourselves from the bar. They had bars and shops by the pool. Some were never open and others were open very limited hours. They said they would have beach items to use or rent like masks, fins and snorkels. These were not available at any time. We went to the restaurant for the breakfast buffet. It was $25 per person. I have stayed at hotels that provide as good of a buffet complementary. The only good items were the fresh fruit. I would not suggest this resort.
