The customer service is exceptional!

The aesthetic of the hotel is adorable. Super cute 1950’s esque decor in the lobby and pool area. Jacuzzi is amazing and to top it off, the front desk customer service and staff (housekeeping included) are superb. Candy, at the front desk, was more than sweet (no pun intended) and made sure to try and accommodate all of our needs during check in. Literally had me to the point of tears it overwhelmed how much she went above and beyond. I can’t wait for future stays. Thank you Candy & Staff at The Anaheim Hotel!
Last time staying here

Unfortunately, hotel staff here are just way too out of touch with what is going on in their own hotel. We have stayed here multiple times and the past 2 times have just been terrible. The desk manager Roger is pretty much worthless. Who does next to nothing to resolve anything, and also the caliber of people who choose to stay here. This combination has made this hotel a place we just will not visit any more. It is just an unsafe, unclean, and riotous place. There are people staying here who just do not realize that there are other guests here and they choose to smoke, shout, swear, threaten other guests, leave disgusting messes and food all around (and in) the pool and even shoot meth on the balconies (I have photos). When the issue is reported to the desk manager, nothing happens to make this a peaceful stay. Security is non-existent here. There were 3 of us guests who met in the corridor about a particular guest making so much noise and each of us reported this to the front desk. Nothing happened. It required each of us other guests to confront the unruly visitor (placing us at risk) to get it resolved. Guests should not be placed in that situation and management completely failed While one cannot fault the management for the type of person who chooses to make a reservation, you can fault them for how they do or do not properly address the many issues happening on their property. Management does nothing. By their lack of action, they have facilitated an environment where guests can smoke openly, play loud music at all hours, threaten other guests with violence, and continue to do drugs in their hotel. With the Corona still a threat, I understand that there cannot be daily guest services, however, we stayed 4 nights and were not offered anything. We ran out of basics and it became awkward to have to ask the front desk and wait and wait and wait for tissue, shampoo, etc. We ended up driving to Target and got our own supplies. Seems like this should have not been an issue. Has not been in the past, so maybe an adjustment could resolve this. But even the garbage cans in the breezeway are constantly full and are not being emptied enough. There is hope for the hotel if they chose to be a little more proactive to actually do things like walk around their hotel, do more to enforce the rules (and laws), and do more reaching out to longer term guests. After over 7 stays here, I will no longer be a guest here due to the decline in management's involvement lack of proactive actions against these issues as they are definitely not reactive or willing to take any action to make this a place where people can come to relax and feel safe. Smoking is a health issue and they did nothing to resolve that issue. Hoping other hotels will open up soon. I will avoid this place in the future. Unless you want to smoke, swear loudly, pick fights with others, or don't care about drugs being cooked and used, or are cool with very loud conversations taking place at all hours of the night, I suggest you avoid this place also.
5th, likely last, stay...

We have stayed at this hotel 5 times total in the last couple of years; 3 times before Covid, twice during. The 3 visits pre-Covid were fine. No issues whatsoever. The 2 during, however, are a completely different story. I do realize that lack of staffing could be the reason for this but it is still worth noting. During our stay in Feb 2021, we had some neighbors that were up until dawn partying on their balcony. They were smoking and shooting up. While we couldn't see them due to the barrier between our balconies, we could smell the smoke and heard them talk about putting needles in their arms. We called security who were very slow to respond. They eventually (after a good hour) quieted down but no police were called for the drug use. During our most recent stay end of March, we had another group booked right next to us- also up in the early morning hours on their balcony smoking and acting like they were the only ones around. Super loud and obnoxious. We had to call front desk twice to get it finally taken care of. First visit from the security guard resulted in no change. He didn't even ask them to stop smoking! Upon a visit to the pool area, we witnessed a very large extended family who pretty much moved in. They had coolers of outside food and drinks. They ate around AND IN the pool and hot tub. We were kind of grossed out by this so we left. The next day we wanted to chill in the hot tub and they were there again. This time, there was soggy food surrounding the hot tub area, a child eating IN the hot tub, and the family was playing their own super crass trashy music. When I requested for the music to be turned off, the guest went off on me saying they were here all day and who was I to come in and pull a "Karen" (lol). Again, we were disgusted so we left because who wants to be around that for relaxation? We called front desk, they said they'd check it out and that outside food/beverages and music were not allowed. He checked, got back to me and said they didn't see anything wrong. Now, this may look like issues mainly with guests. And it is. I believe the low price of this hotel attracts a certain caliber of people unfortunately. However, if hotel staff and security were at all on top of things, none of these events could have happened. The balconies are easily visible by surrounding courtyards so anyone could see and hear the obnoxious and illegal behavior taking place in the wee hours. If any staff walked around the pool area even once in those couple of days, they would have seen this massive family moving in, claiming territory and making other guests uncomfortable. Perhaps The Anaheim Hotel is afraid of confrontation and/or losing profits during these hard times? Could be. Perhaps they don't care enough about the comfort and safety of their guests? Also possible. Either way, they're setting a precedent for future guests who have gotten away with such behaviors and things will only go downhill from here. I'm thinking we won't be some of those future guests. It's a shame, too. We love the mid century vibe of the hotel, the beautiful grounds, the proximity to the parks, and the huge pool. We will have to find another option on Harbor from now on.

Great location and pool

I really enjoyed my stay. The morning front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel has a very large pool and the provide lots of fun pool floats. Many rooms had a balcony or an outdoor porch area. The hotel is an easy walk to Disneyland. The downsides were a small bathroom, no complimentary breakfast and they charge for parking, otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
