Beware of stomach bacteria!
Sandra H (Halifax, Canada) on Mar 23, 2024
The beach is beautiful. The staff is very difficult to communicate with other than reception due to minimal English. Our room had a blinking smoke detector all night long, it took 3 days to get it fixed. We were in Platinum accommodations, with its own pool, beach, lunch buffet and beach area. We tried all the restaurants, only the Mexican was really good. There was almost no entertainment at night. Only one good Dominican cultural show. We came home with some unknown stomach bug which lasted for weeks. All in all it was just okay.
Inappropriate behavior by staff member

The resort was very nice the staff were friendly. There is an entertainment group called animation and one of their staff members named Felix was very inappropriate with my girlfriend. He kept asking her to dance and would try to dance next to her when I was dancing with her. He was outright flirting and kept trying to grind his behind into her. I was appalled at this. All the other entertainers were magnificent. My gf is extremely attractive but I will not return as I don’t want to have to try to be blocking one of the staff from stealing my girl.
We will be back

Fabulous holiday, such a large resort and so many restaurants to choose from, a holiday to remember. We had two suites for us and our grown up children, next to each other on the top floor so no one else comes pass or up to where you are, very well thought out accomodation
Great Beach, Nice Property

Stayed in March. The hotel is newer and situated on the best stretch of this beach. You can walk more than an hour in each direction on the beach and the sand and water are beautiful. The beach is very swimable with little to no rock or coral. White sand, raked and screened each morning. The property itself is very large with a large pool. It is all inclusive with 6-10 different restaurants. The rooms themselves are very nice. As others have posted, to get the seat you want, you need to lay your towel by 8am. There are limited umbrellas on the beach and even more limited ones with little tables to set your drinks, etc. Our room was kept mostly clean, but like all hotels nowadays, it was a struggle to get clean towels each day. We also requested wash cloths every day and called multiple times a day to request them, but only got them once or twice. Difficult to clean sunscreen off your body with your hand, but that's what is required. The food was edible. Quantity over quality. If you are looking to have a foodie vacation, this is not your place. It's a low end Vegas buffet type of place. I've lived all over the world and consider myself to have a pretty strong stomach, but I did have a slight issue the first few days. Narrowed it down to leafy salad and once I stopped eating that, my issue went away. Just a heads up. We also had ordering issues at the sushi and Indian restaurants in that we didn't get things we ordered or got someone else's order multiple times after multiple requests to rectify. Staff and personnel at the property are extremely nice and helpful. Even with the slight issues we had at 2 of the restaurants, I can't think of one staff that was not helpful or discourteous. I need to applaud management for training personnel to be very professional and helpful even if there are some unintentional disconnects. All of the forward facing personnel speak at least working English, even though it seems a high percentage of the guests are Spanish speakers. Greatly appreciated for those of us without the skill of knowing multiple languages. The main pool was nice, but very busy. They cleaned it every morning, but it always seemed a bit cloudy and we didn't get in because of that. It may be that the filter system is just over taxed or there is a chemical imbalance. Not sure, but I'd recommend the property have a pool expert on staff to sort that out. The pool didn't bother most people, so take that for what it's worth. Regarding the restaurants, I'd recommend less choices in the buffets and higher quality of what is put out. The same for the restaurants, a little higher quality with smaller portions would be nice. Overall a good stay on a great beach. Great staff. We would come back.
Great holiday!!

For those who complain about this resort it is truly impressive! There’s over 1000 rooms, people from all over the world, must be so difficult to prepare and pamper guests daily!! To be honest I don’t know how GBP does it day in and day out!! Pretty much the entire staff are very friendly, grounds are incredible, beach is spectacular and quality of food is pretty decent from buffets to the restaurants. And sure everything can use improvement. In the Food Truck area and El Gaucho Santos bartender, Pedro and Joseph waiters, Eduardo seafood rice are all great. The bird whistling waiter (can’t remember name) at Foccacia and Anderson at Teppanyaki are also wonderful!! If you're looking for a big resort on a beautiful beach at a decent quality and price I would recommend GBP!!
