Excellent staff, safe grounds, most enjoyable vacation! Can't wait to return! I would suggest having more to do for my age group. We looked for a volleyball for 3 days! I asked several staff members where to get a volleyball. I was sent to 3 different people and could never get one! Couldn't find a pool table or any other activity to play.

We got married at Paradisus Palma Real a few years ago. It was an unforgettable experience so it was a no-brainer to celebrate our anniversary at this place. PROS: The place still looks as amazing as we remember it in our wedding. Specially the Main Square and the Pool. Our Room, although a bit aged, it was well maintained and clean. Pool, Beach, Gardens and common areas were very well maintained. Friendly Bartenders. Every bartender at the resort was friendly, polite, and professional. Great Piña Colada and Chinola (passion fruit) Mojitos. CONS: Preferential Dinner Reservation: It seems that certain hours were for the “better” guests as we noticed later during our stay that none of the restaurants were at capacity. We also requested to add something special on our table for our anniversary. Unfortunately, nothing special was added at dinner time at the restaurant. Annoying “Circle by Melia” Staff: Every day we were being approached by “Circle by Melia” guys to sell us those Time-Share packages. One of them even told us to participate on that 2-hour seminar so that he can get his “points”. The Beach and Pool waiter service was almost non-existent unless you tip. During our 4 day stay, we were approached only once by a waiter. We decided to get the drinks ourselves from the bars. The food quality and variety has dropped dramatically. Low quality wine at the restaurants. Some plates at the Vento restaurant were just not fresh. Not so peaceful on the weekends, specially at the Pool area.

This was supposed to be a fantastic getaway based on the reviews I read...unfortunately, we couldn’t wait to return home. We had a 2 bedroom Master Suite on the main floor. The staff at this resort are friendly and do their best with what they have to work with. The rooms were dated and need to be upgraded, the buffet was disappointing as they serve the same thing at lunch and dinner. The beach was nice but the chairs were not very good. There is a lot of segregation on the beach...regular guest, circle guests and reserve guests. There was pest issues at this resort where we had to have our rooms fumigated twice! We were there from Thursday-Sunday and had to call on both Friday and Saturday as we saw a cockroach on both days. My husband had to kill them both times. At no point were we offered new rooms considering the resort was not full I thought they would at least offer that. We were expected to return to the fumigated rooms with that awful smell! On Saturday night we went to the buffet for dessert as we had eaten at Banu Japanese restaurant (the only restaurant we were able to book in the 3 nights that we were there) and the kids did not like their desserts. When we looked at the desserts I noticed a cockroach crawling around the chocolate mousse dessert. We immediately went back to our rooms and started packing. We have been to many resorts and have never seen that before. We made sure the service department was aware and the front desk. I also a divided the dessert server at the buffet. We had been introduced to our concierge on arrival and exchanged numbers to message any questions or concerns which he responded for the first day and a half then we heard nothing after we advised we would not be interested in attending a sales pitch for the circle. Another tier of their resort. For a resort this side I expected better. I will not be returning to this resort and would not recommend it to anyone!

Being in the resort hospitality business and restaurant business for 29 years, I have to say, the staff at the Paradisus is absolutely amazing. I have stayed at Meila properties before, I actually got married at one 15 years ago and just haven’t been back. I will be going back to the Paradisus! From the front desk staff to housekeeping. Anything you could possibly want or need, they are sure to take care of you! However, when traveling to the Paradisus, make sure you get the opportunity to work with Vladimir Rodriguez who is in charge of guest services. Vladimir will make sure you and your family are taken care of. Vladimir knowledge of the hotel and all it has to offer exceeded our expectations. His customer service skills are exceptional! He and liliana de león from guest service are an asset to his property! It is so nice to go on a vacation and have the restaurant staff properly trained. From serving wine on the correct side, replacing silver wear, clearing on the correct side, and actually clearing a table properly! Lezette (housekeeping) was so polite and made sure our room was perfect. I want to thank Vladimir and his exceptional trained staff. Because of him.... we will be back next year. All 6 of us!

We were disappointed with service at Naos buffet where wait staff did not come to even take drink orders the first 2 days, but after complaining to head waiter Jose RIviera he ensured we had service from then onwards. We could not get reservations on Friday (the day we arrived) or Sat which is unfortunate and Dinner Buffet food is almost similar to lunch buffet food. Buffet is not great, but we were able to find atleast one thing we liked each time. Burgers and Hotdogs at the beach available 12-1.30 and around 4 pm. So you will not starve, but we got pretty bored after 2 days. Our concierge Richy was great. My daughter got an ear infection when we were there and he picked up antibiotic from Pharmacy for us. Thankfully we did not have to use the doctor onsite (said 160$ charge, but we called our pediatrician and she told us what antibiotic to use). Pros: Pool is huge with multiple stations to rest and drink. Drinks were pretty good. Restaurants Aqua, Vento, Rare and Mizu were good; Circus, MJ show and DR show are decent Cons: Beach is full of kelp and not cleaned in morning or evening. Some wait staff did not show interest to serve. Entertainment shows were nothing but Dance music/DJ night Helpful tips: Email ahead for dinner reservations or go to the concierge when they open at 9am Sunday morning to make reservations for the week. If you are traveling from US, DO NOT CONVERT Dollars to Pesos. They use only Dollars in DR and all prices and services are in US Dollars.
