1st time Family Holiday to Mexico

Mike_Tremain (Brentwood, United Kingdom) on Apr 13, 2024

Just had a lovely 12 nights at the Fives Beach Resort. Overall our experience was very positive and yep in my view its not 5 star but I knew that before I came based on what I had researched. It is however a very good 4 star hotel offering couples and families a very nice environment to make memories. We booked through BA and stayed in a 1 bed garden and pool view room in Villa 16 with our 12 and 15 year old.  The room was a decent size but when we arrived we asked for a roll up bed for our 15 year old as the sofa beds are not the best especially if they have double beds at-home. This request was sorted within 10 mins, great service. Room fridges are fill sized and restocked every day regardless of whether you tip or not and super cold just how it should be. Maid service each day and they go a great job to keep the room clean and tidy. Thank you to that team who work so hard. The resort overall is a decent size, so be prepared to walk around to restaurants ,plaza and beach, I felt this was ideal to walk off all your all inc food and drink, but buggies are available for when your feeling lazy or if you have mobility issues. The pools are worked really well into the overall layout of the resort and each one has a different look. There are pools for all tastes quiet ones by villa 16 , much more noisey pools at  Palmas and Energy. The pool nearest the beach is busy but you can get loungers even during spring break. The wildlife is plentiful, the monkeys especially love to put on a show and as a family this was a highlight for us . Overall the food was good, the beach offerings definitely better for kids with the burgers and pizzas cooked to order. The tacos and the Sunday bbq were excellent.  The restaurants in the evening are good, portions are smaller but this is fine as you are in an all inc and you don't go hungry. When we arrived the only restaurant that needed a reservation was the Italian, but after a few days this was also removed. We had to wait 3 times during our stay all times around 45 mins with the longest being an hour on our last night at the Thai. All other nights we ate around 6.30 ish and were seated either straight away or after a very short wait. The beach and sand are good, in my view its not Barbados or Antigua levels (just my opinion) but the sand is soft, white and it was lovely to walk up and down on. There is seaweed and the staff do their best everyday to sort it and make the area lovely for its guests.  We had lovely weather and really enjoyed our family holiday so thanks to all the staff who worked hard to help us enjoy our 12 nights in Mexico. Finally a couple of constructive comments for consideration for the resort management team, an app showing the resort and the up to date daily information as to what's happening in resort, a few more quiet areas around the Palmas and Energy pool where you walk away from the bar/main pool area, not always enough loungers in those spots and there could be some inserted along the grassed areas or newly created inlays so you can get away from the music and holidaymakers can be spread further across these beautiful gardens, finally a few more varied options for the kids menus in the restaurants.

Disappointing Experience - Not Up to Expectations

Nadia N (Montreal, Canada) on Apr 08, 2024

We had high hopes for our stay at The Fives but unfortunately, our experience has fallen short of our expectations. As seasoned travelers who have visited numerous all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean, we were excited to explore a new destination. However, halfway through our vacation, we can't help but feel let down and somewhat cheated by our experience here. Service: The service at has been inconsistent at best. While some staff members have been polite and attentive, many seem overworked and grumpy, which has affected the overall atmosphere of the resort. Despite our efforts to be polite and generous tippers, we have encountered slow service and a lack of genuine hospitality throughout our stay. Dining: One of the highlights of any vacation for us is enjoying delicious meals, but unfortunately, the dining experience has been far from satisfactory. Despite the hotel's claims of offering "gourmet" cuisine, we have been disappointed by the quality of food served at dinner time. From lukewarm dishes to uncooked steaks and rock-hard desserts, the restaurants have failed to live up to their promises. Beach: Another letdown of our stay has been the beach experience. Despite the picturesque setting, we were disappointed to find that there weren't enough chairs available, making it challenging to find a comfortable spot to relax. Additionally, the beach itself is rocky, making it difficult to enjoy swimming or walking along the shoreline. Furthermore, the beach is not private, which detracts from the sense of exclusivity that we were hoping for. Overall, our experience at has been mediocre at best. While we understand that every establishment may have its shortcomings, we expected more from a hotel that markets itself as a top destination. We hope that management takes our feedback seriously and makes improvements to enhance the experience for future guests.

Great week at The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences

dimifull (Bloomington, Minnesota) on Apr 08, 2024

The grounds were beautiful! We had a great time watching the coatis, monkeys and iguanas frolicking in the jungle which was in the middle of the resort. There were plenty of water options with several themed pools along with the gorgeous white sand beach at the back of the resort. It was heartwarming to watch couples tie the knot on a daily basis. Truly a memorable place for a destination wedding. The best part were the wonderful yoga classes run by the NRG2GO instructor Jennifer on top of the ballroom building which overlooked the infinity pool and white sand beach. It was the perfect way to start my day.

Resort is super inconsistent

CandiceStauffer (Calgary Alberta Canada) on Apr 08, 2024

Just returned from a week at this resort with my family of 4 (my husband and I, our 16 year old daughter and our 10 year old son). We spent a lot of time choosing this resort because of the larger rooms, so that everyone could have some space. We had a 2 bedroom suite in building 6. The rooms were very spacious and everyone got their own bed. There was a full kitchen but nothing was stocked in the kitchen except for drinks in the fridge (no cutlery or dishes). The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We had multiple balconies and multiple tvs. The maid came every day and sometimes we got clean towels and sometimes we got less towels than what we started with. I had 1 hot shower in 6 days. I feel like the hot water didn't get turned on until after 6 pm. We also showered earlier because we were trying to get to the restaurants early so we could eat before 9 pm. Most of the restaurants are first come first serve. We arrived very late on Saturday night and were directed to a taco stand in the main plaza. It was delicious and that was the first and last time I ever saw that taco stand. Sunday at the main pool they put out a delicious spread of mexican food all around the area, and that was the first and last time there was a fancy spread of mexican food in that area. One day my husband and daughter had a fantastic lunch at the Bistro and we decided to go have dinner there. I was served a raw steak and creme brulee which was a bowl of scrambled eggs. Our waiter made no effort to come and correct the situation and basically avoided us, and waited for us to leave the restaurant. We had a top 3 best ever meal ever at the Thai restaurant. The grounds are beautiful, the pools are fantastic, the animals are really cool. We got frusterated with the chair game because we quickly figured out that you have to get up early to put out towels on chairs. Then one morning the staff took our towels and told us we weren't allowed to do that, even though everyone else was doing that. The other option is to pay for a chair, which rubs me the wrong way. Just buy more chairs and give everyone a place to sit! The highs were really high and the lows were really low. I was so excited to come to this resort and relax but I don't know if I ever relaxed. I felt very in the dark about the schedule of events in and around the resort. One day we walked past aquasize in the pool and I wondered how all these people knew about this class. My daughter told us they were going to have a Michael Jackson show for the evening entertainment. I asked her how she knew this and she told me she saw a flier in the bathroom in the main plaza! I would not rate this a 5 star resort. It does not seem to have enough chairs, buffet options, plaza space and bartenders for the number of people that can stay there. I would not return to this resort.
