We were unable to make it to Mexico during the summer due to COVID, but was able to reschedule Nov 19-26, 2020. We had an amazing time despite the heavy restrictions placed upon them by the government. IVES, Abel, Manual, and Yasmin were amazing at the El beso and lobby bars. Making our trip very enjoyably. José and Aldo really made breakfast in the previledge lounge every morning a great start to our day. Our Butler, Antonio took care of all our needs and made all our dinner reservations so we had nothing to worry about. This was a great vacation and we will be back at the end of June 2021 for our 5th trip at Ocean Riveria Paradise. Thanks so much to the entire staff at ORP. Great Time!

First of all I would like to say that I am very easily pleased while on vacation. Things like a hair on my pillow or a cold pancake do not upset me. I love Mexico, I have been about 15 times. The people are the hardest workers and very friendly. We booked this trip well before Covid was around and really wanted to go all out in booking a five star resort. When we first got there check in was fast and Caesar was extremely helpful throughout our stay. When we got to our room on the ground floor of the Daisy section we could smell that it was really musty, we also noticed that the door and closet were all rotted at the bottom. Well we woke up to a completely flooded room in the morning from the rain. We then understood the smell and rotted areas around the room. I'm not sure why they even put people in that room as I'm sure its filled with mold. Anyways they said we could switch rooms and they would send someone to clean up the water. 2 hrs later still no one so my husband ended up grabbing a squeegee and doing it himself. The rooms are very big and beautiful and we were very happy once settled into our new room. The kids section is amazing with the water slides, my 3 year old loved it so much. I was surprised to learn that the resort was only 4 years old, as said in some of the other comments it looks pretty run down. I think being understaffed and the amount of rain they get has really took a number on the building. Also we were told that they are currently operating at a 3 star standard because of Covid. Please keep in mind we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Resorts are only allowed to operate at a 30% capacity right now so they are very much understaffed. One worker is doing the job of 5 employees. Please be kind and tip them well! Your jaw would drop if you knew how little employees make working at these resorts and they bust their asses. One thing that I care the most about is food. I found the breakfast to be good for a buffet but the lunch and dinner was pretty meh. During the week the main buffet wasn't open for lunch or dinner which was odd but I get it since the resort seemed pretty dead most of the time. I must say that the restaurants were amazing, some of the best I've had at a resort. The drinks were also really good! The coffee bar was amazing and my spa treatments were also 10/10. Things that were closed at the resort was the casino, kids club, theater, piano bar, sports bar, disco. The restaurants open on a rotation so not all of them are open every night. The entertainment during the week is pretty lame but on Saturday they had a fire show which was incredible. As for the beach I wasn't expecting much because of the reviews but found it to be fine. The one thing I didn't like was they allow vendors on their property so you are bothered quite a bit. Speaking about being bothered, the H10 staff they are like vultures! They sit in groups scooping people out to talk about the privilege membership. We were approached at least 5 times a day. We actually ended up sitting through one because I was interested in knowing the price during Covid and I wanted a free excursion. The presentation was good and we actually considered but when we said that we would like to think about it and talk as a family one of their managers who was a delight to deal with during turned annoyed with us and became angry with us which turned our maybe into a NO. All in all it was a great stay all things considered. If you are easily upset by things then please don't travel during a pandemic. I should add that I felt very safe at this resort. They go above and beyond with reauctions.

This review is overdue as its my third trip to ORP I traveled there during the pandemic in September of 2020 as well as in Aug of 2019 and Aug of 2017 in the first year the resort opened. As many are aware the beach has eroded considerably since its opening in 2017 and the water can be rocky so wear water shoes that said the resort has a lot of pluses and reasons why we have kept going back. When we stayed occupancy was maybe 25% M-Thursday and about 35-40% on the weekend. The Eden building is closed off and guest reserving there were moved to the other 3 buildings. Covid pre-cautions the resort staff took our temperature and disinfected our bags before entering the resort. All staff always wore mask and most also worse face shields. They also ensured that all people wore mask at the breakfast buffet and other restaurants and I saw some turned away if they did not have them on to go back and get them. Check-in was very fast there was a small line when we got there and it went a bit slow but we were finished within 20-25 min. We were upgraded to a top floor room overlooking the El Beso pool. The rooms at ORP are beautiful and large junior suites we have always loved the rooms. Tip keep the balcony sliding doors closed or it can create a wetness on the walls or even a musty smell if you keep it closed more it should not be an issue. The resort is very segregated with the family section (Daisy) the Privilege and Eden sections closer to the beach. We prefer the adults only El Beso section and really don't have much interaction with kids other than at restaurants. The El Beso pool is lively and the entertainment team keeps the party going with fun and games. They do a great job. This year Miguel, Salvador, Gamo and Raul all kept us entertained at El Beso during our stay. We loved to play water volleyball in the El Beso pool during the day as well. There was little social distancing going on in the El Beso pool bar which was the only one of the 4 pool bars open the other 3 had the upper land side open only but I had so much fun met a lot of great guest from Mexico and other areas of the US and a few Canadians as well. Juan did a great job getting us drinks at the El Beso pool bar as did others whose names I can't remember. I also want to commend my friend William bartender at the beach bar by Pez Vella for doing a great job as he did last year at the El Beso bar. The coffee bar is always great but this year they did not have the best hours as only open from 3 pm till 11 pm. Pro tip you can still get great macchiato's, latte's and cappuccino's, espresso shorts and more at the lobby bar this year in the morning so you don't have to go without in the morning just know where to go. The breakfast buffet was a bit smaller this year but still amazing the staff served you this year rather than having the guest serve themselves due to covid. They have a number of live cooking stations for omelets as well as nuttella crepe's though those were only open on the weekend when occupancy was higher. Guest at El Beso also have access to Blue Moon for breakfast and I have eaten there 3 times for breakfast between my first two visits but it was not open for breakfast this year due to covid. They have a great lobster benedict dish I highly recommend as was their western omelet dish forget the exact name. Due to low occupancy the buffet was not open for lunch except on weekends and everyone could eat at the various pool snack bars which each serve different items or go to Pez Vella for a small buffet of mostly snack foods it could have been a bit better for lunch. The ala carte restaurants are mostly all great. Blue Moon is by far the best but we also have had great meals at La Locanda, Margaritta, the steak house (though I prefer steak at the Italian restaurant), Sakura (great show), as well as Pez Vella for seafood but it was not open for booking this trip. This trip you made reservations with the app and we were able to get reservations all but the first night and that night they still seated us anyway. The restaurants up front rotated so they were not the same all nights this year and there were only 3 open a nigh most nights though one weekend had 4. The buffet is not the best option at night go to the ala cartes. In general Route 66 is our least favorite for taste but I have eaten here the most as it is the after hours place to grab a late night snack open after the disco closes though this year both the disco and Route 66 were not open late. The lobby bar was open till midnight each night though. Entertainment this is normally a very strong area at ORP from daily activities they also normally have 2 foam parties on Tuesday afternoons by the beach and El Beso pool on Saturday afternoons. A big plus is the amazing shows at night including the Greatest Showman, the Pop show (Queen/Madonna etc), the Broadway show, The Lion King and others. They also invite local craftsman in to sell and highlight local Mexican crafts and arts on Sunday there was not so many this year with covid but I got a great painting here last year. They do have a small casino on property with limited games that is open late but with covid it was also closed. The bowling alley was open though and this year for the first time we played 3 nights at the bowling alley and thanks to Abraham who provided great service there. I also would like to commend Hector who cleaned the rooms in the El Beso section for the great job he did for us as well as Carlos and Santiago at Amaranto for breakfast as well as the customer service manager in the business center area. This year there was a lot to deal with but my week at ORP was the most normal and fun week I had all year and I appreciate the team there for helping make it possible.

The highlight of my 2-week vacation at Ocean Riviera Psradise resort was the series of 3 wine tastings led by Sommelier Sergio. These tastings are offered weekly and include 2 white and 3 red wines accompanied by a selection of small bites (cheeses, fruits, deli meats like salami and prosciutto) to pair with the wines. Sergio focuses his presentations perfectly for resort guests who want to learn about wine/food pairings and have fun at the same time. I also enjoyed several conversations with Sergio about wide-ranging wine topics. We share a common passion for the wine world. Writing as wine industry professional with extensive experience developing programs for restaurants in the greater Boston area, I would hire Sergio in a heartbeat to manage training programs for my restaurant clients. Ocean Riviera Paradise is fortunate to have Sergio on staff.
