Idyllic beach setting on French side of island
Reviewed by laughlovetravelworld(Biarritz, France) on Jan 18, 2021
We booked for two nights initially and stayed 11!! I highly recommend asking for rooms in the 700s building as it is closer to the cafe and the rooms face the beach that is more idyllic. The other beach is also nice, but the chairs and the sun beds are on the other idyllic beach. The rooms on the other side seem a bit older - we thought about switching to a two bedroom but the ceilings weren’t as high and the bathrooms were smaller and older. You can pay 3€ per token for one load of wash or dry here as the rooms don’t have in-room machines. The kitchen was complete with all you need to cook - although we never did because the food at the cafe and in town were amazing. We had two issues but because of the location and views of the beach, we overlooked them as much as possible. One, the wifi always disconnects and sometimes is out. We felt it was a bigger problem on our laptops vs phones. On our laptops we constantly had to reconnect and they require a password prompt which got annoying. On our phones it was ok. But there were a few instances where the wifi was completely out. The second is that our bathrooms sometimes smelled like sewer. It was very putrid. And it wasn’t constant and it seemed like the bathrooms alternated as to which one smelled. We had an upstairs bathroom and one downstairs. We had to run the shower and sink for a few minutes to “flush” the smell. Basically I think they have some plumbing issues. Overall it’s a very nice place to stay on one of the prettiest beaches in the island. It’s a short walk to the best restaurants in Grand Case. The parking lot is gated and they have security constantly monitoring.
Paradise at the Grand Case Beach Club

We loved our stay at GCBC! It has everything we wanted. Beautiful new rooms, stunning views, onsite restaurant, two fabulous beaches, rooftop pool, lots of loungers. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We toured around to a few other lovely beaches but honestly thought to ourselves “Why did we even leave our beach at the hotel?” The grounds are beautiful and many days and evenings we watched the sunsets from our balcony or one of the many semi private sitting nooks along the landscaped boardwalk. We could use floats, SUP , kayaks and snorkels from the surf shop. Mornings usually started with a delicious breakfast at the on-site Sunset Cafe. There was a very nice kitchen in the room which we used for making coffee and full size fridge we used for wine & drinks. We didn’t cook but you could easily make a full dinner if you wanted. We walked into GC for dinner every night, some people prefer to drive & park. The restaurants are top notch whether it’s fine French dining, local bbq, pizza or a bit of nightlife. There is still more rehabbing needed in GC since Irma, they got hit hard. Also, there is a French bakery, convenience store, scattering of gift shops and pharmacy w/in walking distance. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this place, only when am I coming back!
Hidden Paradise, Literally

Arriving at the gates of Grand Case Beach Club I was filled with excited anticipation, as I did not really know what to expect. Wow. The check in was friendly yet socially distanced and following very strict cleanliness protocol. When we opened the door to our room it was like a dream! The studio suite, on the corner, downstairs has to be the most amazing room and setting I have seen. We could walk out of the back door and sit on our lounge chairs while looking out at the sea! Honestly, it was perfect. The room was super clean and updated, gorgeous bathroom and a small kitchenette. I could live there. The beach (both sides) were spacious and the water clear as glass. I loved the Restaurant, too, while indulging in a very fresh Croissant! Honestly, this is one of the best resorts I have stayed in and I have been around the world. Waling into Grand Case is to easy and fun, with a multitude of restaurants to choose from, from casual chicken on the grill to very high end waterfront dining. Love love love. Just what we needed! Staff super super friendly and Laura was amazing.
Even Better Than Before

I think we can all agree that the year 2020 sucks! For me personally, it sucked bad, so with Thanksgiving coming and being in a decidedly un-Thanksgiving mood, we decided to go out of town. Back to my happy place. St. Martin. As luck would have it, the Grand Case Beach Club was offering a promotion that extended into Thanksgiving week and we took advantage of it. My wife sleuthed great fares on American Airlines. We had to spend the night in Miami each way, but I had Marriott points for that. Grand Case Beach Club was devastated by Hurricane Ida. One of the things I admired about the management is that they kept all their staff paid during the long rebuilding process. The rooms look very different now. Instead of the tile floors, they now have a wood-toned vinyl plank. The rooms look warmer now, a difference from the fairly stark white of the previous rooms. All new appliances in the kitchens. If you want your own coffee, bring it, along with #4 filters. We got a one bedroom with loft and our daughter took the loft. In the past we have had the loft and in the summer, it got pretty warm. Not a problem any more. Replacing the single AC unit from the past were three units. One for the living/dining room, one for the bedroom and one for the loft. Each with their own fans and remotes. We had no problem keeping the room as cool as we liked. At night, we could open our balcony door a foot or so and be serenaded to sleep by the sound of the waves, while staying very comfortable. That is a huge improvement from the last time we were at the Grand Case Beach Club. On that subject, we have been to St. Martin nine times. Eight of those times, we stayed at the GCBC. It's that good. Because of the pandemic, they want to reduce guest/staff interaction and the room was serviced once during our five night stay. That was fine. We could always get new towels for the beach or bathroom for the asking. Front desk staff was very accommodating with requests to order taxis or to get a rental car for the day. I met Steven/Stephen, the new GM. Very nice gentleman who frequently toured the property to talk to guests and get feedback. There is still construction for the Garden View rooms and the tennis courts, but it doesn't start too early or end too late. There was no inconvenience at all. The main beach, the one you see out of the Sunset Cafe, has changed little since the storm, although the drop off to deeper water seems steeper to me. The other beach was the same relaxing gentle slope. At ground level, each building has a set of palapas with chairs so you can look out over the water. In the afternoon, iguanas might come for a visit. There are also hammocks located around the property for that afternoon nap you deserve. I am a big fan of the Grand Case Beach Club and will continue to visit. They have made a big investment in rebuilding and their guests are clearly benefitting from that.
Excellent location, rooms and views.

We had a brand apartment (with loft). Everything was practically new, even smelled like new. The staff here is very friendly, they did explain to us that they can only clean rooms every 3 days due to Corona, which is fine and they said towels can be exchanged at any point. The views here are absolutely spectacular. The location is excellent about a 10 minute walk to all the top restaurants in SXM. (Very safe to walk)
