Avoid at any cost!!! This is below -1 star… I use to LOVE Cuba… not anymore after visiting this place… to the point I will never go back and will tell anybody I know not too.. Service was horrible…. We were not served at the buffet… I mean staff would not even come with a water… so we served ourselves like 90% of the time…. We brought out water bottles and took forks and even wiped our table … No drinks AT ALL at most bars around 6-7 pm… I mean they literally tell you “we have nothing left” … Dirty rooms… we moved in the room with old urine drops on a toilet.. some sort of warms all over the room and many on the bed… Its a beautiful place.. but staff and service just HORRIBLE… Food…. Where do I start… Iv been to Cuba many times… I know what they have and I can eat really simple… but not gross… rice with maggots… and rice was not cooked daily.. it was the same rice that maybe was weeks old… Dishes looked like compost garbage literally .. even pizza was really bad.. I mean how you can screw up pizza??? Uncooked fish/shrimps and meat.. like half raw.. Anyway papaya and hot dogs was good lol.. few dishes too.. but 90% of it was not eatable .. all food was cold also. Like not even warm… No water in rooms.. I had to go to lobby and ask EVERY DAY for water.. No phone in the rooms.. no coffee machines.. They may give you half napkin at the buffet… They look at you like you are an alien if you tip $1 us.. I can go on and on… And the icing on the cake was our departure day.. airport transfer bus driver decided to wait 1 hour for 2 people.. entire full bus was waiting.. that 2 people actually took a taxi.. but we waited 1 hour.. when we got to the airport 2 hours prior our flight it was a disaster… it was that full that we was was stack in the bus because airport has no room for anymore people… Our flight was delayed because of that… and that driver was brave enough to ask for tips… We was traveling with 2 year old toddler… and it was pure nightmare… Also things are way overpriced there now.. like rum is cheaper in Canada… ?? They want for a T-shirt $ 20US… Taxi $45 US for 15 km drive.. I will never go back… Varadero is not a place to go!! After this experience I will never go back to Cuba.. not just Varadero… This place need serious work on service and people Some pictures for reference.. One is of the bed with hair and some crumbs the day we moved in.. Avoid that place or Varadero in general and go somewhere nice!

Love tha please amazing. And people very nice and caring. Service was excellent. Food was fresh. City of Varadero was nice night life was fun. And during the day also. Plenty of things to do. The dolphins and the boat unbelievable. Definitely very good vacation.

We stayed at the Reserve section from March 19th - 28th with our 3 year old, and while we were a bit alarmed after reading some of the reviews after booking, our experience was nothing short of wonderful and we would definitely go back! To complain about the food when you go to a country that's facing its worst economic crisis in 30 years is shameful and just points to people who are not seasoned travellers or aware of current politics. Just as you would check to see if you need a malaria shot before travelling, it's your duty as a traveller to learn about what the country is going through and arrive prepared. It's an easy fix by going with condiments like ketchup, peanut butter, hot sauce etc...and we had plenty of water. The buffet had lots of variety and a great grilling station with chicken and pork at every meal. We got great proteins by the beach buffet every day for lunch (9oz portion of salmon, chicken, pork, etc). We didn't get a chance to check out all the restaurants on property, but the Cuban and Italian restaurant were great too. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and accommodating, and the beach was incredible (none of us got bitten by sand-fleas). We also read some complaints about how far the beach was from the Reserve, which we couldn't wrap our head around, as it was only about a 4.5 minute walk.... Our Butler Phillip was one in a million, the staff from the Reserve Bar and Beach Bar were amazing, and Mylene from the Kids Play area exuded kindness and patience. They had great kits activities, from the kids pool at the Reserve section, the kids zone building which was very impressive and the kiddy disco shows every night on the main stage. All in all, we were embarrassed for the people who seemed to find things to complain about and would like to send a huge thank you to the entire team there!

It is the first time we visited the hotel .I really like the animation, very good, congratulate the girls Dayana and Osli The children's entertainment is the best, they have variety The children have a lot of fun and they love their teachers Good job for them

As majority of the reviews for not only this resort but for Cuba in general referring to the shortages our experience certainly had its challenges but we made the best of it. We went down as a party of 6 (two families of 3) staying in the Reserve section. The Reserve Lobby area was great, easy check in, drinks were "elevated" compared to the rest of the resort. Meaning you could get a true mojito, margarita etc. The cappuccinos were wonderful. Our concierge was Felipe and he was OUTSTANDING! A warm and friendly welcome on the first day, he gave us a tour of the resort and was upfront and honest about the shortages. He was there when we needed and referred us to a wonderful lobster dinner in Varadero which included a tour in a convertible for the 6 of us. Beach was fantastic and great for swimming and beach activities. The reserve pool was quiet and convenient being close to our rooms. The main pool was decent, but lacked entertainment. I want to give a higher rating because in "normal" conditions I would highly recommend this resort to anyone, but due to the shortages and some of the issues we had during our stay this is the best I can honestly give at this time.
