Much more to Nassau than just the all-inclusive resorts!
I spent five weeks in Nassau, returning just before Christmas 2015. It was my second trip there, and while I stayed with family who owned a vehicle, it would be easy enough to rent a car: New Providence the island where Nassau is isn't large, and if you have a portable GPS, you may already have detailed maps to help with navigation. Keep in mind that, like the UK, you will need to be comfortable driving on the left! My sister-in-law and I made a point of visiting all five national parks/historic parks, primarily for birdwatching. At Clifton, on the southwest corner of the island, you can get a real feel for what it was like in the days when Nassau was run by pirates. You can also rent snorkling gear and swim out along marked "trails" underwater to see the new sculpture garden: we had such fun that we went a second time! Food isn't inexpensive, but you can do well by visiting more restaurants frequented by the locals: one of my favourite areas is called Fish Fry, and has lots of small restaurants and food stands. I particularly enjoyed tasting the locally brewed beers: Sands is made in Freeport, while Pirate Bay is a small brewpub in the heart of downtown, near the cruise ship terminal.
Bring your bathing suit and appetite to this wonderful island and get prepared to be wowed.
The weather was really nice and we really enjoyed our visit with the People to People. We felt the hospitality was outstanding enjoying a local meal meant so much and viewing local artwork. The Bahamian properties to purchase or rent are endless. The Blue Lagoon Island Beach was a true family or friend event and lots of activities, so we would go again. We enjoyed the time shopping and found anything we needed. The music and the culture of the people was so upstanding and clean we will go back in a heartbeat. The Bahamas is a treat to visit the board does a good job at promoting this destination. We found it to be safe and a good variety for all.
Nassau was very friendly

Atlantis Paradise Island - For the young and young at heart!!!
Our Westjet Vacation to Nassau Bahamas met every expectation including the rooms and services provided by the Royal Towers at Atlantis, Paradise Island. There was a great variety of activities to satisfy young and old alike, from the attractions at the water park, to the beaches, to the various aquariums and exhibits. We took a couple of off-site tours and they filled the remainder of what proved to be a very active and enjoyable week. While this vacation may appeal to those with children moreso then empty nesters, there is something for everyone and it was well worth checking out!!! Thanks to Westjet for another memorable vacation!!!!
Nassau worth seeing
Good shopping. Rum cakes that were bought taste really good! Great Christmas presents too. Went on semisub and saw fish on reef, went on catamaran through the Nassau harbour and saw the really mice homes . Like the colourful buildings and the old archtitecture in Nassau. Went to Fort Fincastle and shopped at the little flea market outside the fort. Would like to go to Atlantis Hotel next time.
Cable Beach is the place to stay.
Nassau is a beautiful place. We prefer to stay on Cable Beach rather than Paradise Island as the beach is much nicer and it's a lot quieter. Be sure to make a stop at the Daiquiri Shack - hands down they make the best daiquiris ever. Alfred the Cigarman that works at the Daiquiri Shack is excellent in booking excursions and he also has some very fine Cuban cigars. I will keep going back to the Bahamas, it's just wonderful. Friendly people and we felt very safe.
Tropical paradise for a great family or romantic getaway!
Nassau, Bahamas was amazing! We went in February with our toddler and had an incredible time! Beautiful beaches, gorgeous turquoise water, delicious local food and friendly people - what more could you ask for? We felt safe and had a wonderful family vacation. Generally speaking, it is on the expensive side, but we found fabulous restaurants for reasonable prices and delicous food! The Fish Fry area is a must! Take the local bus if you want an experience to remember. The Bahama Mama drink is yummy! Straw market is fun. Daquiri huts everywhere! Very kid-friendly. Will return one day, although we want to visit other islands we have yet to see. Hope this helps you in your travels!
Fantastic place Nassua Bahamas is.......
The Breezes resort was fantastic. There is lots to do if you want or you can just relax. The staff are always freindly and very helpful. Would go back in the future. Unforutnatley there is lots of constuction going on all around. And the golf course (the purpose for the vaction) was not open and hasn't been open for awhile because of the construction going on. Paid for shipping our clubs on the advice of the travel agent only to be disappointed. Also upgrated to a room with ocean veiw to do be disappointed there as well. Next door 8 cranes were in the sky line, nice veiw :(
I would live in Nassau if I could.
One of the things I love the most about Nassua is that you can do alot, or you can do nothing and still feel absolutely wonderful! Just to walk the beautiful beaches or through the shops downtown, you feel relaxed and happy! The weather was perfect - in the high 80's every day - we had a few drops of rain, no big deal as the sun was soon out again. Of course I would go back - I would live there if I could!
