AMAZING! I went with my aunt and mother for 8 days, we did not have high expectations because we have read lots of bad reviews not on iberostar but Cuba overall and did not want to be disappointed. We were so pleasantly surprised, from the moment we had the fastest and easiest check in to the moment we got on the plane home we were treated like celebrities. The staff are amazing! we particularly loved Danyer and Roberto, they are apart of the entertainment staff and they went out of there way to make sure we had a good time! The bartenders always remember your drink and made sure you were always full. A must see that wasn't very advertised was the cigar lounge, Freddie the bartender is always doing cool tricks and treats you well, the in-house band is amazing and the guitarist definitely needs to join an American rock band he is unreal! overall best trip ever the positives definitely out way the negatives!

I have been to Cuba many times and always enjoy the people, the weather, the peacefulness. Of the various resorts I have been to, this one was in the middle. Things are, unfortunately, changing in Cuba. On various past trips to Cayo Coco I have gone on local birdwatching trips for a very reasonable price. No such trip was listed in the excursions this time and my inquiry at the so-called "customer service" met with a blank look. The excursions that were listed were much more expensive than in the past. A massage was offered for a price I did not find reasonable.. WARNING: Watch your money. The first time I exchanged money at the hotel desk the woman shortchanged me. When I asked about the amount, it was corrected quickly. I suggest you specify you want a receipt at the beginning, might avoid this problem. I bought a carton of local cigarettes, handed the woman a 20 peso note, she gave me 2 pesos change. Again, I questioned this and she quickly corrected the change to 5 pesos. Too bad....

Thank you Iberostar Mohjito for giving our girls, aged 7 and 4 such a perfect vacation! 8th time for myself in Cuba and my husband and I thought we would need to bring the hot sauce with us based on previous exprerience, however not needed for this resort! The staff were so friendly at the buffet (special thanks to Juan Carlos) and reception and the nightly entertainment dazzled our girls. It was very nice how they involved the girls and other kids stayng at the resort. we just went as we knew the beach was excellent based on staying at other resorts in Cayo coco and Cayo Guillermo however the food at this resort exceeded our expectations. Although we brought soy milk packs for the kids (and nutella for toast) as they can be fussy with different tastes there were lots of choices for them. Although the ambiance was great at the Italian restaurant (and service) we actually preferred the guy making the fresh pasta at the buffet restaurant! Definately want to return! We stayed on site at Disney for the past 2 years and my girls had just as much fun playing on the beautiful beach, enjoying the clean pool and again the great nightly enterainment, that before kids, my hubby and I usually passed on. I was dissapointed about the trip cost to Moron and would have went as it would have been a great experience for the girls but thought it was a bit high. Other than that a wonderful experence for all! Thanks again!

Great Beach. Rooms need to be upgraded. Resort staff were quite friendly. Housekeeping staff especially and did a great job each day cleaning and preparing the room. Food was passable in the Buffet. A la carte restaurant was pretty good except for the mosquitos (it is located in a saltwater marsh). Table service in the Lobby Bar left a lot to be desired. Cuban guests at the resort were quite rude and often horded food. Not much in activities for our teenage daughter. Nightly shows at the amphitheatre were pretty good.

The location, employees, beach, and overall service were excellent. The only draw-back were some rude Quebecers that were loud, obnoxious, and treated the employees poorly. Some of the pool staff were a little too involved with female customers during the day when families like ours were trying to enjoy the pool. Not a thing you want to explain to the kids. This was our second stay here and third time to Cuba. We would stay again but would really like to see the behaviour of both customers and employees monitored better.

I vacationed at the Iberostar Mojito in the first week of June 2013 and I would definitely return in the future. The entire resort was exceptionally clean, including my room, the pools and the beach. The buffet had a wide variety and everything was delicious especially the seafood! The beach is absolutely beautiful, you can walk for miles on silky white sand. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Iberostar Mojito, they were always very attentive and friendly and ensured your needs were met so that you would have the best possible vacation. My one and only complaint would be the mosquitos in the late afternoon and evening, however that is not the fault of the resort, just ensure you bring a good bug repellant. This vacation was one of the best and I would go back!!

This hotel appeared to be going through some overhaul when we arrived. Over the course of our vacation, the grounds were being worked on, and they installed a washroom closer to the beach. There is too little shade at the beach for the size of this resort. You need to get to the beach between 6 and 6:30 am to get shade. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. There is a bar at the beach. No food is offered. The beach is quite a walk from the resort. With the washroom being opened up nearby, the walk became less of an issue. The choices of food at this resort was not as plentiful as you would see in the Dominican or Mexico but what was offered was delicious and we had no complaints about the quality at all. The nightly entertainment was the best that we have seen during our various resort vacations. Lastly the staff at this resort were courteous and friendly. We would definitely recommend this resort.

My husband and I loved this hotel. It was exactly what we were looking for. We came from Vancouver, so it was more expensive then if you came from another city that flies their direct. We had lowered our expectations after reading about Cuba, but we still wanted to go and we were very happy when it was better then what we expected. We changed our room to 2125. It was the top floor, bright corner unit, view of the trees and slight view of the ocean, close to the adult pool, so it was quiet and had a separate walk way to the beach away from the main area. The food was way better then expected. NO, you are not going to find the same quality as back home as Vancouver has some of the best food in the world, but it was good. There is a pasta bar, a salad and fruit bar, the usual buffet section of foods in steamer trays, something different every night at the carving table and a fresh grill (which we preferred). At the fresh grill they had different fish and meats that you could have grilled in front of you. I wouldn't suggest the beef as it is tough, but the pork chops are great. Every 2 weeks they have 1 lobster night and that was definately the highlight. The entertainment was amazing and we made sure not to miss it. Still not sure how those dancers can move the way they do. I think they are double jointed. The beach is stunning. Water that is the same as a pool.If you venture outside the hotel to the real Cuba you will see the people have VERY LITTLE, so you are living in a bubble at the resort and should be thankful for the amount that is offered. Tip for what to bring. In our Country we give away without a thought what someone in Cuba may treasure for a lifetime. The people in the resorts have the most money, but still they can't buy some things because they just don't exist there or they are extremely hard to find. If you have some room to back tools you would be very popular. We had packed used clothes and toiletries and gave them away on our day trip to Trinidad.

We just returned from a very enjoyable week in Cuba. The beach in front of this hotel is the best in the area. It is cleaned and there are always lounging chairs and shade available. A beach bar and activities complete the picture perfect water. The rooms are simple but clean and they have an in-room safe and lots of hot running water. Now the staff... they are unbelievable. They are friendly, efficient and treat you like a real guest. A peso tip is always appreciated but never expected. We never had a problem getting a seat in any of the bars or restaurants and the line in the buffet was never too long. The evening shows were great. There was lots of choices of drink and the bartenders were not shy with the servings. The food was good and there was always lots to choose from. My husbands favourite meal was the red snapper served in the Italian a la carte restaurant which is one of three on the premises. I enjoyed the fact that there was always lots of vegetables and fruit and the fresh cheeses were amazing. There is not much to see in the area but if you are wanting a week of sun and the beach, this would be a good choice.

We will definatly return to this resort when we choose Cayo Coco. We loved the beautiful beach and the friendly staff. The food was delicious. At first impressions we felt the resort was a three, that was only because our rooms appeared to be a little I need of an upgrade. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach, but it is the most beautiful beach we have ever been on. Great service, clean rooms, very good bar service, ample space at the pool, good evening shows, wonderful staff. There is an awesome lobster restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere just a few kilometres from the resort. It's called Playa Prohibida. very resonable for two people including beer Highly suggest checking it out.. This is our first holiday with West Jet Vacations and it will not be our last. From leaving Calgary till returning, every west jet employee was helpful, humorous, personal, efficient, and most of all seemed very happy to make our experience flying with them a great one. Enjoyed the very short bus drive from the airport to the resort. On arrival, the Iberostar Mojito reception staff handled everything quickly and efficiently. Our room, closets, mirror dresser and bathroom were good size and clean. Bedspreads and curtains need replacing, they are worn out. Had wonderful sunny weather the whole 11 days, however wind made it impossible to swim in the ocean...red flag for 7 days during our stay. Once wind subsided, we enjoyed swimming in the ocean, it was so warm and wavy. Beach is very beautiful...resort staff cleaned it up once wind subsided. Water is so many shades of green and blue, sky clear blue with occasional white fluffy clouds...a pleasure to walk and enjoy. All pools were very clean, water very cold on most days. Towel service very good, no delays when exchanging on daily basis. Food very good at the Sirena pool bar and the buffet....we always ate freshly grilled fish and meat. Good selection of yummy salads, vegetables, side dishes, fresh fruit, deserts. Bread is the best!!! All kinds, all so very good. Bacon is very good too. We also enjoyed many international drinks! Bar staff were accommodating to mix requested drinks. Cappuccino was great too!! We didn't go to any ala-cart dinners by choice All staff very much enjoy and appreciate receiving tips and presents. We went to yoga and aqua fit...both were fun. They also have many games and dancing troughout the day on the beach and by the pool. Cayo Coco was our 3rd Cuban destination (Varadero, Santa Maria). We love Cuban people, they are so warm and loving and happy...it is a pleasure to be with them for a while. We go to a different location each winter, this is the only reason we will most likely not go back. S, I / S Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

We stayed Jan 25- Feb 1,2012. This hotel is in the process of new management with Iberostar. The Emperador side is closed under renovations, they plan on being open sometime between May and August. We can certainly understand why there are so many repeat guests as we are planning on returning in April this year. Check In/ Reception Very smooth. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in building 17 and my husbands parents in block 22. There is a money exchange here, but the exchange rate at the airport is much better. You have to buy an internet card which is $6 CUC for 1 hour. There was only 1 working computer and extremely slow. No Wifi. Rooms Our room was kept spotless by Yaquelin. We were on the 3rd floor and had an oceanview. The rooms on the upper floors do not have balconies, but the windows open wide. There is 2 double beds pushed together. Safe is included with the room so no need to purchase the safety deposit box. The villas section 22 and 23 have balconies. Restaurants There is 1 buffet and 3 a la cartes at the present time. There is only 1 specialty restaurant open per day at the moment while things are slow. The food was quite decent for Cuba. I have celiac and always found something. The specialty restaurants always had a choice as well and were very accommodating. The Cuban was our favorite. I also had the lobster dinner which was very good, and nothing like our Atlantic PEI lobster at the Seafood restaurant. The service was top notch. All nonsmoking Beach Beautiful, only a 3-5 minute walk from main resort. lots of loungers. there are sand fleas so bring some repellent. Had an amazing time, if we were to change just 1 thing would be to have no smoking in the disco bar if you are allergic or sensitive stay away. The staff are awesome and are the real jewel of this hotel.

We stayed at the Mojito from Oct 5-12 2015 with 2 children ages 3 & 6 and 4 adults. I was weary of some of the reviews of the property as well as the change in management, but we were all pleasantly surprised when we arrived. My travel requirements are fairly standard, comfortable, clean and decent food and all of these boxes were ticked for me. This was the first time our youngest had been in the ocean and the beach was tremendous. We spent hours in the morning at the beach and then the same in the pool for the afternoon. I think the misconception with Cuban food is that they lack variety, or more accurately, North American standard choices. True, you will not find pizza or french fries at the buffet, but they have amazing local dishes along with fresh grilled fish and meat and a pasta bar, all freshly cooked. If you are searching for a 5 star resort, give this one a pass, but if you are looking for a relaxing, confortable, friendly atmostphere, take a look at the mojito, you won't be disappointed!

This resort is conveniently located only 10-15 min from the Cayo Coco airport. It was built 15 years ago, along with its sister resort right next door but the sister resort has been abandoned for several years. The Mohito on its own is a large resort with a good size lobby and a separate wing housing a souvenir shop, a cigar/liquor shop, games room, a luggage room, an internet room with computers, tour operators station, washrooms and the disco. At the end of the lobby is the lobby bar that serves great drinks and lattes...the bar staff are excellent and very attentive. It is open late. The front desk staff were efficient but not as open and friendly as staff in the lobby bar, snack bar, buffet and specialty restaurant. Many staff have worked there since the resort opened which is nice to see. There is a large two-level main pool with swim up bar; a snack bar which serves hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, pork chops, fries, pizza, and full bar service right next to this main pool. The food was very good. It is open thru the day, closes around dinner hour and reopens for late night snacks. Staff run activities around this pool during the day...an itinerary of activities is posted outside the buffet restaurant. There is an adult-only pool as well, away from the main pool area, which is usually lovely and quiet. There are covered areas but not enough of them, and some of them are in need of repair. My only complaint is that the adult-only rule is not followed by guests nor does anyone seem to enforce this, unless someone complains. The buffet restaurant offers a good variety of food, both ready-made and made to order...omelettes for breakfast, cuts of meat and fish, pastas, paella, soups, meat, potatoes, veggies, breads(toaster at breakfast), smoothies, cheeses, cold meats, salads, pickled items, desserts--jello, cakes, ice cream. We had no complaints with respect to the food at the buffet, or snack bar. You can have 3 specialty dinners a week, all located in one building on the pier. The staff here were great and one evening, a pianist played throughout dinner..she was amazing. The location is lovely looking out over the lagoon and the atmosphere is very nice but we didn`t feel the food was any better than the buffet. Accommodations are in numerous buildings around the resort. We paid for an upgraded room and my daughter was in a standard room, and actually her room was larger but did not have a balcony, just windows. Upgrade was not worth it. Both rooms were basically the same, with 2 double beds, long credenza, flat screen TV, sink area with closet and safe, and a separate toilet, bidet and tub/shower room. Our upgraded room was on the ground floor, thank goodness. To get to the second floor, there was a long, steep set of stairs to climb. No elevators in any building...4 floors. Tub faucets looked old but everything worked well; only one night, we had lukewarm water for a shower. Rooms were clean and tidy, with fresh sheets and towels daily. There were a couple of English TV stations including CNN, and other languages as well. Fridge was stocked daily with a large bottle of water, and pop, beer every other day.We also got a bottle of rum in our room. Not sure if these are a feature of the upgrade. Building 18 is right next to the main pool, snack bar and theatre area so it can be noisy in the rooms, hearing the pool activities and nightly entertainment. The nightly entertainment is in an open-air theatre, no cover for weather. They have bingo there most nights, as well as nightly entertainment--dancing, singing shows, etc. which were fairly good. There are washrooms right beside the theatre and pool. My experience was that they are used frequently, and often do not have any toilet paper. I got in the habit of carrying a roll of toilet paper from my room, in my beach bag. I ran into the same problem in the lobby washrooms. Carry toilet paper with you. The hotel is situated on a lagoon. To get to the beach, you walk across piers over the water for about 10 minutes. Beach is lovely, with covered cabanas, but when tides are in, there is no beach. There is a small snack bar and drink bar at the beach. Walking along these piers to the beach, you'll notice many chalet-type buildings. These used to be accommodations but are no longer used and haven't been for about 8 years...since Iberostar took over...not sure why. The sister resort that is abandoned has the same typed of accommodations, plus theatre, lobby, etc. None is being used. You can walk along the beach at low tide for a long way either direction. If you turn right when you get to the beach, you can walk right over to another lovely beach where the locals go as well. You can continue walking to the Sol hotel and up the road to the Rocarena climbing park. If you have young kids, teenagers or just like to have fun, you HAVE to GO to this climbing park. It is German-built, 3 storeys high, with well-trained staff to take you through. Young kids stay on the ground level. You are strapped into a harness, and then you are connected to safety wires all through the climb. You just walk across, through, over or under various objecst on each level, from balance beams, to chairs, to a surf board, to swinging poles to anything you can imagine. If you dont want to do an activity, you don't have to, you can skip it an go on to something else. There is a rock climbing all, and a swing that they pull up to a certain height then let you go and you swing. There are washrooms and a snack bar there as well. It really is fun and worth going to, unless you are afraid of heights. Also within walking distance is a small plaza that sells a lot of souvenirs and crafts, there is a pharmacy, a cigar store, an athletic store, a clothing store. On the hotel grounds, there is a Cigar Bar out on one of the piers...it serves drinks as welml and people were telling us that it was amazing...the bartender was fantastic. We intended to go but couldn't fit it into our schedule. We exchanged our Canadian money at the front desk, no problem. For $1.00 Cdn, we got about 70 pesos. Internet cost 2 pesos for an hour. Mosquitos were a problem and there seemed to be a couple of varieties...one similar to ours, others that are very tiny and they are called "no-see-ums". Some people react to these ones badly, with huge, itchy welts appearing...we saw a few people with welts all over their legs. My husband and I got some bites but we didnt have the severe reaction. My daughter looked up no-see-ums on the internet and there was a recipe for a repellent for them, so she made it...witch hazel, mint mouthwash and a few other ingredients. It worked for her...she didn't get bites nor a severe reaction that she did on our last trip to Cuba. BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT! You can arrange tours through your tour rep at the hotel...fly to Havana, bus tour to the nearest city of Moron with a boat ride on the lagoon, learn about their railway history, learn about cigar or sugar-making; swim with dolphins, etc. We enjoyed our vacation at this resort. It is not a 5 star for sure, it is "tired" and needs some attention, but all in all, a good resort. The pools were always lovely and clean and the water temperature was such that even in the heat, you could just walk right into the water, no problem...it wasn't cold at all. You are given two beach towels on arrival...make sure you take care of them and don't leave them unattended, because if you lose them, you are charged 30 pesos per towel, which is about $45.00 Cdn, Tips are a nice way to show your appreciation as wages are minimal. Again, staff were lovely and friendly and worked hard to attend to the guests. Remember that wherever you travel, it will never be like home. Don't expect gold-plated faucets and pheasant under glass. Relax and go with the flow and you'll have a great vacation. Honestly, Cuban people are some of the nicest I've met in the Caribbean. All in all, a very decent place to stay at a reasonable price.

        Iberostar- MAN DOWN!

I visited this resort in a last ditch attempt to like anything in Cuba. Previous to this, I had stayed in Varadero and Holguin and loved the beaches but not the resorts, or the food. And I am NOT picky... at all. I love almost all types of fruit and vegetables, I am not a vegetarian...I love seafood and meat, but it always ends up being the smells of the cooking oils that get me by day 3 of any trip, however the Cuba trips are the worst because they don't have a good variety of veggies for salads, its pretty much the same things all week long. And the seafood and meats are all drowned in some kind of coriander sauce because it's usually off the lunch or breakfast buffet However its food I don't normally eat and so in there lies my challenge, and I know its not about the food, but you do have to eat! When we got to this resort we were immediately aware that this resort was not going to live up to the Iberostar name that we had thought would make this resort better even knowing we were going to Cuba. It was extremely run down, the grass was practically dead around the resort, and the layout was a bit strange. This resort is on a marsh of sorts, so from the main resort to the beach you have to walk a boardwalk which is a fair distance , to arrive to the beach. Now, the beach is wonderful, white sand and turquoise water, however the beach is very narrow and so you have to walk quite a distance down as it fills up quick to be close to the bar and the entrance. The only place to get a drink is pretty much a shack on the beach, and so they are limited to what they have in said shack. The second problem is the bathroom, because there is such a walk on the "boardwalk" the closest washroom is an outhouse style washroom that sits on legs ( as do some of the ala cart resteraunts and the house that hosts the musical entertainment). So basically what you do in the washroom is going into the water that you are walking across to get to many functional areas of the resort. It's gross, and i'm sure breaks laws. I did not enjoy very much about this resort, I found the room depressing, and not modern nor that clean. I found the pools dirty, and the food and drinks were "meh". The beach was disappointing, and that was pretty much the theme of the whole trip. Actually , let me sum up this trip with the this one sentence - My sister went to the bar and asked for a Mojito - seeing how we were staying at the Mojito. She was told " Oh no lady , we don't have any mint , it's too expensive and hard to get, and so we bring it from our own gardens at home if we have any". And that was the entire week.. as a joke just before we left we asked again for a Mojito, still none. So there was an ingredient missing from the drink that this resort names itself after. That my friends , is this resort in a nutshell :)

After making a round trip we spent 4 nights in this hotel. Cayo coco and Guillermo are lovely islands for relaxing and enjoying the beach! Iberostar Mojito is a big hotel with nice and big rooms, very clean! The staff at the animation was really nice, but I cannot say the same for the reception ladies :) They can be more helpful! The food is good and the variety is also good! Never forget, that you travel to Cuba and not to Spain or Turkey, where you are used to amazing all inclusive resort with too much food, too much staff or too much service! Cuba is a poor country. Even if the hotels are not really cuban, you cannot expect a real 5 star hotel, you are used to from other countries! And everyone should definitely visit at least one real cuban city before going to these touristic all inclusive resorts! All in one very good hotel for the price category!
