Beautiful beach, but so far from the actual property, about a 10 min. Hot walk. Would have been so much nicer if resort was on the beach. The staff were absolutely delightful, however by day seven I inquired as to how often the sheets were changed. I was told daily, but in fact it had already been seven. I rarely received mini bar drinks, unless I hunted down my maid and asked for them. Restaurant and bar staff were great, except in the lounge area. If you didn't tip, you were ignored after the first service. This went on everyday. The restaurant layout and service was so annoying. You had to wait in line every mealtime to be served, sometimes 10 to 15 min. Then you had to stay in line to get to the rest of the buffet's hot food. It was not easy for our party of six to sit and eat at the same time, someone was always waiting for food. The choices were rarely varied. They ran out so much so often. I can assure you that we ran through more than a hundred pesos per couple just tipping everyone. Loved the warmth of the people in Cuba, but, I would never return to this resort.

AMAZING! I went with my aunt and mother for 8 days, we did not have high expectations because we have read lots of bad reviews not on iberostar but Cuba overall and did not want to be disappointed. We were so pleasantly surprised, from the moment we had the fastest and easiest check in to the moment we got on the plane home we were treated like celebrities. The staff are amazing! we particularly loved Danyer and Roberto, they are apart of the entertainment staff and they went out of there way to make sure we had a good time! The bartenders always remember your drink and made sure you were always full. A must see that wasn't very advertised was the cigar lounge, Freddie the bartender is always doing cool tricks and treats you well, the in-house band is amazing and the guitarist definitely needs to join an American rock band he is unreal! overall best trip ever the positives definitely out way the negatives!

I have been to Cuba many times and always enjoy the people, the weather, the peacefulness. Of the various resorts I have been to, this one was in the middle. Things are, unfortunately, changing in Cuba. On various past trips to Cayo Coco I have gone on local birdwatching trips for a very reasonable price. No such trip was listed in the excursions this time and my inquiry at the so-called "customer service" met with a blank look. The excursions that were listed were much more expensive than in the past. A massage was offered for a price I did not find reasonable.. WARNING: Watch your money. The first time I exchanged money at the hotel desk the woman shortchanged me. When I asked about the amount, it was corrected quickly. I suggest you specify you want a receipt at the beginning, might avoid this problem. I bought a carton of local cigarettes, handed the woman a 20 peso note, she gave me 2 pesos change. Again, I questioned this and she quickly corrected the change to 5 pesos. Too bad....

Thank you Iberostar Mohjito for giving our girls, aged 7 and 4 such a perfect vacation! 8th time for myself in Cuba and my husband and I thought we would need to bring the hot sauce with us based on previous exprerience, however not needed for this resort! The staff were so friendly at the buffet (special thanks to Juan Carlos) and reception and the nightly entertainment dazzled our girls. It was very nice how they involved the girls and other kids stayng at the resort. we just went as we knew the beach was excellent based on staying at other resorts in Cayo coco and Cayo Guillermo however the food at this resort exceeded our expectations. Although we brought soy milk packs for the kids (and nutella for toast) as they can be fussy with different tastes there were lots of choices for them. Although the ambiance was great at the Italian restaurant (and service) we actually preferred the guy making the fresh pasta at the buffet restaurant! Definately want to return! We stayed on site at Disney for the past 2 years and my girls had just as much fun playing on the beautiful beach, enjoying the clean pool and again the great nightly enterainment, that before kids, my hubby and I usually passed on. I was dissapointed about the trip cost to Moron and would have went as it would have been a great experience for the girls but thought it was a bit high. Other than that a wonderful experence for all! Thanks again!

Great Beach. Rooms need to be upgraded. Resort staff were quite friendly. Housekeeping staff especially and did a great job each day cleaning and preparing the room. Food was passable in the Buffet. A la carte restaurant was pretty good except for the mosquitos (it is located in a saltwater marsh). Table service in the Lobby Bar left a lot to be desired. Cuban guests at the resort were quite rude and often horded food. Not much in activities for our teenage daughter. Nightly shows at the amphitheatre were pretty good.

The location, employees, beach, and overall service were excellent. The only draw-back were some rude Quebecers that were loud, obnoxious, and treated the employees poorly. Some of the pool staff were a little too involved with female customers during the day when families like ours were trying to enjoy the pool. Not a thing you want to explain to the kids. This was our second stay here and third time to Cuba. We would stay again but would really like to see the behaviour of both customers and employees monitored better.

I vacationed at the Iberostar Mojito in the first week of June 2013 and I would definitely return in the future. The entire resort was exceptionally clean, including my room, the pools and the beach. The buffet had a wide variety and everything was delicious especially the seafood! The beach is absolutely beautiful, you can walk for miles on silky white sand. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Iberostar Mojito, they were always very attentive and friendly and ensured your needs were met so that you would have the best possible vacation. My one and only complaint would be the mosquitos in the late afternoon and evening, however that is not the fault of the resort, just ensure you bring a good bug repellant. This hotel appeared to be going through some overhaul when we arrived. Over the course of our vacation, the grounds were being worked on, and they installed a washroom closer to the beach. There is too little shade at the beach for the size of this resort. You need to get to the beach between 6 and 6:30 am to get shade. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. There is a bar at the beach. No food is offered. The beach is quite a walk from the resort. With the washroom being opened up nearby, the walk became less of an issue. The choices of food at this resort was not as plentiful as you would see in the Dominican or Mexico but what was offered was delicious and we had no complaints about the quality at all. The nightly entertainment was the best that we have seen during our various resort vacations. Lastly the staff at this resort were courteous and friendly. We would definitely recommend this resort.

My husband and I loved this hotel. It was exactly what we were looking for. We came from Vancouver, so it was more expensive then if you came from another city that flies their direct. We had lowered our expectations after reading about Cuba, but we still wanted to go and we were very happy when it was better then what we expected. We changed our room to 2125. It was the top floor, bright corner unit, view of the trees and slight view of the ocean, close to the adult pool, so it was quiet and had a separate walk way to the beach away from the main area. The food was way better then expected. NO, you are not going to find the same quality as back home as Vancouver has some of the best food in the world, but it was good. There is a pasta bar, a salad and fruit bar, the usual buffet section of foods in steamer trays, something different every night at the carving table and a fresh grill (which we preferred). At the fresh grill they had different fish and meats that you could have grilled in front of you. I wouldn't suggest the beef as it is tough, but the pork chops are great. Every 2 weeks they have 1 lobster night and that was definately the highlight. The entertainment was amazing and we made sure not to miss it. Still not sure how those dancers can move the way they do. I think they are double jointed. The beach is stunning. Water that is the same as a pool.If you venture outside the hotel to the real Cuba you will see the people have VERY LITTLE, so you are living in a bubble at the resort and should be thankful for the amount that is offered. Tip for what to bring. In our Country we give away without a thought what someone in Cuba may treasure for a lifetime. The people in the resorts have the most money, but still they can't buy some things because they just don't exist there or they are extremely hard to find. If you have some room to back tools you would be very popular. We had packed used clothes and toiletries and gave them away on our day trip to Trinidad.

We just returned from a very enjoyable week in Cuba. The beach in front of this hotel is the best in the area. It is cleaned and there are always lounging chairs and shade available. A beach bar and activities complete the picture perfect water. The rooms are simple but clean and they have an in-room safe and lots of hot running water. Now the staff... they are unbelievable. They are friendly, efficient and treat you like a real guest. A peso tip is always appreciated but never expected. We never had a problem getting a seat in any of the bars or restaurants and the line in the buffet was never too long. The evening shows were great. There was lots of choices of drink and the bartenders were not shy with the servings. The food was good and there was always lots to choose from. My husbands favourite meal was the red snapper served in the Italian a la carte restaurant which is one of three on the premises. I enjoyed the fact that there was always lots of vegetables and fruit and the fresh cheeses were amazing. There is not much to see in the area but if you are wanting a week of sun and the beach, this would be a good choice.

We will definatly return to this resort when we choose Cayo Coco. We loved the beautiful beach and the friendly staff. The food was delicious. At first impressions we felt the resort was a three, that was only because our rooms appeared to be a little I need of an upgrade. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach, but it is the most beautiful beach we have ever been on. Great service, clean rooms, very good bar service, ample space at the pool, good evening shows, wonderful staff. There is an awesome lobster restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere just a few kilometres from the resort. It's called Playa Prohibida. very resonable for two people including beer Highly suggest checking it out.. This is our first holiday with West Jet Vacations and it will not be our last. From leaving Calgary till returning, every west jet employee was helpful, humorous, personal, efficient, and most of all seemed very happy to make our experience flying with them a great one. Enjoyed the very short bus drive from the airport to the resort. On arrival, the Iberostar Mojito reception staff handled everything quickly and efficiently. Our room, closets, mirror dresser and bathroom were good size and clean. Bedspreads and curtains need replacing, they are worn out. Had wonderful sunny weather the whole 11 days, however wind made it impossible to swim in the ocean...red flag for 7 days during our stay. Once wind subsided, we enjoyed swimming in the ocean, it was so warm and wavy. Beach is very beautiful...resort staff cleaned it up once wind subsided. Water is so many shades of green and blue, sky clear blue with occasional white fluffy clouds...a pleasure to walk and enjoy. All pools were very clean, water very cold on most days. Towel service very good, no delays when exchanging on daily basis. Food very good at the Sirena pool bar and the buffet....we always ate freshly grilled fish and meat. Good selection of yummy salads, vegetables, side dishes, fresh fruit, deserts. Bread is the best!!! All kinds, all so very good. Bacon is very good too. We also enjoyed many international drinks! Bar staff were accommodating to mix requested drinks. Cappuccino was great too!! We didn't go to any ala-cart dinners by choice All staff very much enjoy and appreciate receiving tips and presents. We went to yoga and aqua fit...both were fun. They also have many games and dancing troughout the day on the beach and by the pool. Cayo Coco was our 3rd Cuban destination (Varadero, Santa Maria). We love Cuban people, they are so warm and loving and happy...it is a pleasure to be with them for a while. We go to a different location each winter, this is the only reason we will most likely not go back. S, I / S Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

We stayed Jan 25- Feb 1,2012. This hotel is in the process of new management with Iberostar. The Emperador side is closed under renovations, they plan on being open sometime between May and August. We can certainly understand why there are so many repeat guests as we are planning on returning in April this year. Check In/ Reception Very smooth. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in building 17 and my husbands parents in block 22. There is a money exchange here, but the exchange rate at the airport is much better. You have to buy an internet card which is $6 CUC for 1 hour. There was only 1 working computer and extremely slow. No Wifi. Rooms Our room was kept spotless by Yaquelin. We were on the 3rd floor and had an oceanview. The rooms on the upper floors do not have balconies, but the windows open wide. There is 2 double beds pushed together. Safe is included with the room so no need to purchase the safety deposit box. The villas section 22 and 23 have balconies. Restaurants There is 1 buffet and 3 a la cartes at the present time. There is only 1 specialty restaurant open per day at the moment while things are slow. The food was quite decent for Cuba. I have celiac and always found something. The specialty restaurants always had a choice as well and were very accommodating. The Cuban was our favorite. I also had the lobster dinner which was very good, and nothing like our Atlantic PEI lobster at the Seafood restaurant. The service was top notch. All nonsmoking Beach Beautiful, only a 3-5 minute walk from main resort. lots of loungers. there are sand fleas so bring some repellent. Had an amazing time, if we were to change just 1 thing would be to have no smoking in the disco bar if you are allergic or sensitive stay away. The staff are awesome and are the real jewel of this hotel.

We returned home from the Iberostar Mojito yesterday after a week's vacation and here's what we thought: Grounds: Very well-kept and lots of room for guests. The lagoon villas are not in use (about half of the rooms), so although the resort was full when we were there, it felt spacious and we really enjoyed the space. Rooms: Most rooms are in three-story condos but we paid extra for a balcony and were in Block 22 - we loved the location and the large, well-functioning room. Our traveling companions (age 70+) found the rooms dark and poorly lit but we thought they were fine. The views from Block 22 are better, but there was a terrible smell the night we arrived and we were promptly moved without issue. We preferred the location of Block 22 as it was beside the Adult Pool, close to the Cigar Lounge, and very close to one of the beach access points. We had hot water at every shower and lots of water pressure. There was toilet paper, and toiletries - even tissues! Really, this is not always the case in Cuba. Our mini-fridge was stocked every day with water, soda and beer. No complaints at all about the room. Food: The food at this resort is better than some others we have been to. There is variety and the quality is good for Cuba. The buffet appears small but I honestly think some travelers do not realize it has two sides - there is plenty of choice for the size of the resort. Everything one expects from a Cuban buffet: omelets, crepes, french toast in the morning, lots of freshly baked breads and pastries at every meal, a pasta station, grilled fresh & seafood stations, paella or a similar large dish at supper. Fresh fruit and vegetables at every meal. Dishes were refreshed often and nothing was ever cold. The pool bar serves fries, pizza, hamburgers, BBQed chicken, grilled fish and grilled sandwiches. The beach grill has fries and hamburgers also. We ate at all three of their a la carte restaurants: Gourmet, Italian, and International. The Gourmet a la carte was not worth attending but the Italian was good and the International was actually great food. Pool(s): They have a very large two-tiered swimming pool with a swim-up bar which is clean and warm. Lovely actually. As the week went on, we found the pool became very crowded with guests insisting on infringing on our space - we did not enjoy this as we like our space. We solved this issue by moving to the Adult Pool on our non-beach days, which was lovely. Beach: The beaches in Cayo Coco are just beautiful and this is no exception. We live on the ocean and are use to the tides and changing beach levels. Some guests went to the beach at high tide and declared the beach "small". People need to understand the beach width changes by 8-10 feet at low tide. If you go down at the highest tide, there is not a lot of real estate available, but if you check the tide tables at the front desk and plan to go 2-3 hours after high tide, you will see there is all kinds of white sand to enjoy. Lots of loungers available on the beach also. There are three access points and during high tide you must choose carefully as the beach ends up divided into three segments - go down several different times on your first day to get a sense of what is available. It's gorgeous swimming with few rocks and the sand is groomed every morning to remove much of the naturally-occurring seaweed. We took a glass bottom boat trip out to snorkel at the reef about a mile from the resort for 20CUC per person which was great. There is no snorkeling on the property to speak of. Entertainment: The stage was being refurbished the week we were there, so there was not entertainment. We went several evenings to the Cigar Lounge, met lots of people, and hung out with Freddy the somewhat-famous bartender. Freddy has worked there since the place opened and has lots of interesting stories to share. If you have spare bartending tools/utensils/shakers to bring down, he will be most grateful as there is simply no place to buy such items in Cuba. The house band "Tahiti" plays live every night from 9:30-10:30pm and is worth checking out. The staff at this hotel, like all of Cuba, is hard-working and friendly. They really want you to enjoy your stay and (most importantly) return next year. The Lobby was very inviting and was so well-utilized we often had difficulty finding a table. Cappucinos were best in the Lobby bar and our favourite drinks came from the pool bar. One of the bartenders on the beach also delivered drinks to us which certainly was appreciated. Would we go back to the Mojito? Yes, if the price is right.

You will not be disappointed with your stay here. It is quiet...the white sand beach is hard to stay away from and the resort staff are so warm and friendly you will think that they are family. I was not one for excursions, just sitting around enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. They have 2 regular pools and 1 adult only pool, those who enjoy their peace and quiet. Before you make quick judgements about the buffet...as I did...first visit the salad/bread bar an sample the fresh veggies. There you will see that they do not have the same strong taste as at home...that saying then you can understand when they mix these veggies in their sauces and stews, that the food is not as deeply flavoured as back home. But I grew to really enjoy eating there. Most of the staff work atleast 60hrs a week for next to nothing in wages, so please do not hesitate to show your gratitude if you are treated nicely. Most building are 3 stories and are accessible only by stairs. All the rooms are very quiet, and the maids make sure your refrigerator always has water. If you are taking something that needs to be electrically charged...please bring an inverter for all power there is 220.

My stay at this hotel was enjoyable and I will return. The hotel needs paint and patch work like some reviews have mentioned but it's really not THAT bad, it's more like chips and cracks here and there rather than glaring problems. My room was nice and clean. I had a water bottle replenished every day and never had any problems with toilet paper, water pressure and hot water like some other negative reviews mentioned. However, the beds could be more comfortable and the sheets could be cleaner/newer. The air conditioning worked really well. Safe was in good condition. I didn't experience any bugs in my room or mosquitos outside; that said, the week I was there, it was very windy so that could have been a factor. The staff were all very helpful; some weren't as attentive as others but servers/workers don't always necessarily have good days. The food was OK. You'll always find something to eat as there is a big selection. The quality of the food could be improved. I don't recommend the Italian a la carte but the gourmet one was really enjoyable. I never had any problems finding a chair at the beach. The beach workers are really attentive and friendly. The wifi worked fine. At certain times (i,e at night when the lobby was busy or during a cloudy/windy/rainy) period, it was more difficult to connect but that's not the hotel's fault. The speed was normal. The beach was absolutely stunning. And, the walk to it really wasn't that bad; the lagoon that you have to cross doesn't smell and it's really not that far of a walk over it (if you're lounging at the resort all day, you can use the exercise). I saw a repair man checking the wood boards almost everyday to ensure that the walking path to the beach was safe for guests.

Like most we were a little worried after reading some reviews, but there was no need. We had a fantastic holiday. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff are amazing!! The only down side was the fact that there wasn't enough chairs for all the guests. This made for some nasty confrontations at pool side, but nothing to dampen our fun! We loved how close it was to the airport, only 10min on the bus. We will definitely return!

wrote three reviews of this place but trip adviser wouldn't post them so I've had to edit it. Here goes ............. This was my first time outside of Europe so I was unsure what to expect, I have to admit the hotel and a majority of the staff were very pleasant during the day however during the night is a different story..................the bad parts, the bar man at the disco and the security guards at night are something else! Twice I caught male security guards in the female toilets with girls who were clearly in distress when we confronted them the English they had spoken earlier seemed to vanish and I had to make him call his boss on the radio, he assured me it wouldn't happen again but it did . The bar man in the disco would probably be arrested if he behaved like he does in England he let my friend keep her bag in the back room but wouldn't give it back unless she kissed him, the same guy told my friend when she tried to order a water for a drunk guest that what she needed was more alcohol and some adult company (not my original word). One security guard took a shine to the girl with me she was polite to him but then he followed us to the snack bar and wouldn't leave us alone, we had to get quite forceful to make him leave us alone. to me that isn't a good thing for a business maybe it's the way in Cuba but it's wrong........... now the good parts, The rest of the staff were truly wonderful, the hotel has everything you need and is constantly cleaned by the wonderful cleaners who are never far away the hotel isn't a luxury 5 star like you would expect in Europe but it's more than enough, some of the staff are absolutely amazing sandros at the snack bar, Juan Carlos,Edil and Ariel at the lobby bar ,the entertainment lads Adrian, danger and Andy and Freddy at the cigar lounge are more than enough to make me come back next year, I'd just suggest pepper spray for the girls at the night time
