AMAZING! I went with my aunt and mother for 8 days, we did not have high expectations because we have read lots of bad reviews not on iberostar but Cuba overall and did not want to be disappointed. We were so pleasantly surprised, from the moment we had the fastest and easiest check in to the moment we got on the plane home we were treated like celebrities. The staff are amazing! we particularly loved Danyer and Roberto, they are apart of the entertainment staff and they went out of there way to make sure we had a good time! The bartenders always remember your drink and made sure you were always full. A must see that wasn't very advertised was the cigar lounge, Freddie the bartender is always doing cool tricks and treats you well, the in-house band is amazing and the guitarist definitely needs to join an American rock band he is unreal! overall best trip ever the positives definitely out way the negatives!

I have been to Cuba many times and always enjoy the people, the weather, the peacefulness. Of the various resorts I have been to, this one was in the middle. Things are, unfortunately, changing in Cuba. On various past trips to Cayo Coco I have gone on local birdwatching trips for a very reasonable price. No such trip was listed in the excursions this time and my inquiry at the so-called "customer service" met with a blank look. The excursions that were listed were much more expensive than in the past. A massage was offered for a price I did not find reasonable.. WARNING: Watch your money. The first time I exchanged money at the hotel desk the woman shortchanged me. When I asked about the amount, it was corrected quickly. I suggest you specify you want a receipt at the beginning, might avoid this problem. I bought a carton of local cigarettes, handed the woman a 20 peso note, she gave me 2 pesos change. Again, I questioned this and she quickly corrected the change to 5 pesos. Too bad....

Thank you Iberostar Mohjito for giving our girls, aged 7 and 4 such a perfect vacation! 8th time for myself in Cuba and my husband and I thought we would need to bring the hot sauce with us based on previous exprerience, however not needed for this resort! The staff were so friendly at the buffet (special thanks to Juan Carlos) and reception and the nightly entertainment dazzled our girls. It was very nice how they involved the girls and other kids stayng at the resort. we just went as we knew the beach was excellent based on staying at other resorts in Cayo coco and Cayo Guillermo however the food at this resort exceeded our expectations. Although we brought soy milk packs for the kids (and nutella for toast) as they can be fussy with different tastes there were lots of choices for them. Although the ambiance was great at the Italian restaurant (and service) we actually preferred the guy making the fresh pasta at the buffet restaurant! Definately want to return! We stayed on site at Disney for the past 2 years and my girls had just as much fun playing on the beautiful beach, enjoying the clean pool and again the great nightly enterainment, that before kids, my hubby and I usually passed on. I was dissapointed about the trip cost to Moron and would have went as it would have been a great experience for the girls but thought it was a bit high. Other than that a wonderful experence for all! Thanks again!

Great Beach. Rooms need to be upgraded. Resort staff were quite friendly. Housekeeping staff especially and did a great job each day cleaning and preparing the room. Food was passable in the Buffet. A la carte restaurant was pretty good except for the mosquitos (it is located in a saltwater marsh). Table service in the Lobby Bar left a lot to be desired. Cuban guests at the resort were quite rude and often horded food. Not much in activities for our teenage daughter. Nightly shows at the amphitheatre were pretty good.

The location, employees, beach, and overall service were excellent. The only draw-back were some rude Quebecers that were loud, obnoxious, and treated the employees poorly. Some of the pool staff were a little too involved with female customers during the day when families like ours were trying to enjoy the pool. Not a thing you want to explain to the kids. This was our second stay here and third time to Cuba. We would stay again but would really like to see the behaviour of both customers and employees monitored better.

I vacationed at the Iberostar Mojito in the first week of June 2013 and I would definitely return in the future. The entire resort was exceptionally clean, including my room, the pools and the beach. The buffet had a wide variety and everything was delicious especially the seafood! The beach is absolutely beautiful, you can walk for miles on silky white sand. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Iberostar Mojito, they were always very attentive and friendly and ensured your needs were met so that you would have the best possible vacation. My one and only complaint would be the mosquitos in the late afternoon and evening, however that is not the fault of the resort, just ensure you bring a good bug repellant. This vacation was one of the best and I would go back!!

This hotel appeared to be going through some overhaul when we arrived. Over the course of our vacation, the grounds were being worked on, and they installed a washroom closer to the beach. There is too little shade at the beach for the size of this resort. You need to get to the beach between 6 and 6:30 am to get shade. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. There is a bar at the beach. No food is offered. The beach is quite a walk from the resort. With the washroom being opened up nearby, the walk became less of an issue. The choices of food at this resort was not as plentiful as you would see in the Dominican or Mexico but what was offered was delicious and we had no complaints about the quality at all. The nightly entertainment was the best that we have seen during our various resort vacations. Lastly the staff at this resort were courteous and friendly. We would definitely recommend this resort.

My husband and I loved this hotel. It was exactly what we were looking for. We came from Vancouver, so it was more expensive then if you came from another city that flies their direct. We had lowered our expectations after reading about Cuba, but we still wanted to go and we were very happy when it was better then what we expected. We changed our room to 2125. It was the top floor, bright corner unit, view of the trees and slight view of the ocean, close to the adult pool, so it was quiet and had a separate walk way to the beach away from the main area. The food was way better then expected. NO, you are not going to find the same quality as back home as Vancouver has some of the best food in the world, but it was good. There is a pasta bar, a salad and fruit bar, the usual buffet section of foods in steamer trays, something different every night at the carving table and a fresh grill (which we preferred). At the fresh grill they had different fish and meats that you could have grilled in front of you. I wouldn't suggest the beef as it is tough, but the pork chops are great. Every 2 weeks they have 1 lobster night and that was definately the highlight. The entertainment was amazing and we made sure not to miss it. Still not sure how those dancers can move the way they do. I think they are double jointed. The beach is stunning. Water that is the same as a pool.If you venture outside the hotel to the real Cuba you will see the people have VERY LITTLE, so you are living in a bubble at the resort and should be thankful for the amount that is offered. Tip for what to bring. In our Country we give away without a thought what someone in Cuba may treasure for a lifetime. The people in the resorts have the most money, but still they can't buy some things because they just don't exist there or they are extremely hard to find. If you have some room to back tools you would be very popular. We had packed used clothes and toiletries and gave them away on our day trip to Trinidad.

We just returned from a very enjoyable week in Cuba. The beach in front of this hotel is the best in the area. It is cleaned and there are always lounging chairs and shade available. A beach bar and activities complete the picture perfect water. The rooms are simple but clean and they have an in-room safe and lots of hot running water. Now the staff... they are unbelievable. They are friendly, efficient and treat you like a real guest. A peso tip is always appreciated but never expected. We never had a problem getting a seat in any of the bars or restaurants and the line in the buffet was never too long. The evening shows were great. There was lots of choices of drink and the bartenders were not shy with the servings. The food was good and there was always lots to choose from. My husbands favourite meal was the red snapper served in the Italian a la carte restaurant which is one of three on the premises. I enjoyed the fact that there was always lots of vegetables and fruit and the fresh cheeses were amazing. There is not much to see in the area but if you are wanting a week of sun and the beach, this would be a good choice.

We will definatly return to this resort when we choose Cayo Coco. We loved the beautiful beach and the friendly staff. The food was delicious. At first impressions we felt the resort was a three, that was only because our rooms appeared to be a little I need of an upgrade. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach, but it is the most beautiful beach we have ever been on. Great service, clean rooms, very good bar service, ample space at the pool, good evening shows, wonderful staff. There is an awesome lobster restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere just a few kilometres from the resort. It's called Playa Prohibida. very resonable for two people including beer Highly suggest checking it out.. This is our first holiday with West Jet Vacations and it will not be our last. From leaving Calgary till returning, every west jet employee was helpful, humorous, personal, efficient, and most of all seemed very happy to make our experience flying with them a great one. Enjoyed the very short bus drive from the airport to the resort. On arrival, the Iberostar Mojito reception staff handled everything quickly and efficiently. Our room, closets, mirror dresser and bathroom were good size and clean. Bedspreads and curtains need replacing, they are worn out. Had wonderful sunny weather the whole 11 days, however wind made it impossible to swim in the ocean...red flag for 7 days during our stay. Once wind subsided, we enjoyed swimming in the ocean, it was so warm and wavy. Beach is very beautiful...resort staff cleaned it up once wind subsided. Water is so many shades of green and blue, sky clear blue with occasional white fluffy clouds...a pleasure to walk and enjoy. All pools were very clean, water very cold on most days. Towel service very good, no delays when exchanging on daily basis. Food very good at the Sirena pool bar and the buffet....we always ate freshly grilled fish and meat. Good selection of yummy salads, vegetables, side dishes, fresh fruit, deserts. Bread is the best!!! All kinds, all so very good. Bacon is very good too. We also enjoyed many international drinks! Bar staff were accommodating to mix requested drinks. Cappuccino was great too!! We didn't go to any ala-cart dinners by choice All staff very much enjoy and appreciate receiving tips and presents. We went to yoga and aqua fit...both were fun. They also have many games and dancing troughout the day on the beach and by the pool. Cayo Coco was our 3rd Cuban destination (Varadero, Santa Maria). We love Cuban people, they are so warm and loving and happy...it is a pleasure to be with them for a while. We go to a different location each winter, this is the only reason we will most likely not go back. S, I / S Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

We stayed Jan 25- Feb 1,2012. This hotel is in the process of new management with Iberostar. The Emperador side is closed under renovations, they plan on being open sometime between May and August. We can certainly understand why there are so many repeat guests as we are planning on returning in April this year. Check In/ Reception Very smooth. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in building 17 and my husbands parents in block 22. There is a money exchange here, but the exchange rate at the airport is much better. You have to buy an internet card which is $6 CUC for 1 hour. There was only 1 working computer and extremely slow. No Wifi. Rooms Our room was kept spotless by Yaquelin. We were on the 3rd floor and had an oceanview. The rooms on the upper floors do not have balconies, but the windows open wide. There is 2 double beds pushed together. Safe is included with the room so no need to purchase the safety deposit box. The villas section 22 and 23 have balconies. Restaurants There is 1 buffet and 3 a la cartes at the present time. There is only 1 specialty restaurant open per day at the moment while things are slow. The food was quite decent for Cuba. I have celiac and always found something. The specialty restaurants always had a choice as well and were very accommodating. The Cuban was our favorite. I also had the lobster dinner which was very good, and nothing like our Atlantic PEI lobster at the Seafood restaurant. The service was top notch. All nonsmoking Beach Beautiful, only a 3-5 minute walk from main resort. lots of loungers. there are sand fleas so bring some repellent. Had an amazing time, if we were to change just 1 thing would be to have no smoking in the disco bar if you are allergic or sensitive stay away. The staff are awesome and are the real jewel of this hotel.

Iberostar Mojito on Cayo Coco was our first stop after leaving Havana. Must say that I really enjoyed the policy of the island which does not allow locals to enter the island without a reason. Resort is nice, but don't get your hopes up as it is outdated and lacks a bit of refreshment. Beach is neglected and dirty so I would recommend you to stay at the pool or try your luck down the beach. Beach bar is dirty and staff is rude. Bird feces are everywhere so you need to try really hard to find a clean stool or a table. We ordered Mojito but the lady said that we can't get it. We asked her how so, especially when the name of the hotel is Mojito? She replayed in a rude tone that it is not possible to serve Mojito to everyone in this hotel which as we learned later meant no tip no drink which was strange in all inclusive resort. I must say that we were more satisfied in the restaurant. Staff is nice, warm and welcoming. Food is for Cuban standards really good and fresh. Staff in the lobby bar and the lobby itself is a bit nicer than at the beach bar but not nearly close to as the staff in the restaurant. Service repeats itself as at the beach bar. Staff will not serve you or will not bring you your ordered drink unless you tip them to their taste. They will bring you your drink but if there is no tip next drink will not come or they will magically ran out of everything you order. Resort also has a mini market where you can buy at a reasonable price water, sweets (twix and snickers) and some other stuff. If you did not come to this hotel by rent a car you can use a sight seeing bus which will take you around the island and it stops at every hotel which makes it really slow but you will see the whole island. Not sure if I would come here again but it was better than other hotels I visited in Cuba.

We travelled to the Iberostar Mojito 5-12 March. 2nd visit. First was in 2011. The hotel seems to be stuck in time. We are in our 40s. Had a standard room in bldg 16 on the third floor overlooking the pool. No elevators. (did not care) The rooms serve the purpose to sleep & not much more. 300 meters to the beach from our room. A nice walk by the empty villas over the laguna. They were in use our first visit, not anymore. The last time as well we had acces to the Emperador beside the Mojito but it is now closed. (sad) . Our goal was to relax and have fun. Both were achieved. What made this a great trip was the staff & the other travellers that we met. Had some great nights at the cigar bar listening to the band and watching Freddie do his art. The food was ok for us. The beach...what more can you ask for. The volleyball net was broken after our first day. The little snack bar on the beach was nice. can not comment on the ''drinks'' because we basically just drank brugal . The coffee in the lobby bar was great as usual. We took the double decker to Playa Pilar. If you want a new hair style sit upstairs. It takes a while to get there as the bus stops at other hotels. We brougt a couple of beers for the ride and enjoyed the landscape. They rent loungers at Pilar and you can buy drinks & food. 1/2 day excursion for not too much $ There is a ''market'' abot 1/2 a km from the hotel. We walked there 2 seperate times. The usual Cuban fair for sale. By the way... the beer is cheaper in the hotel store than the market. I met a gut (jim-Nasium) who brought stuff from home. (lotions, school stuff, beauty products) and bartered for souvenirs. If you have old smart phones it seems like you can arrange to trade for stuff as well. Back to the hotel.. The main pool was enjoyable and relaxing and we could get various food and drinks from the open air resto just beside it. The quiet pool was just that. You can walk on the beach to the left for about 3 1/2 km and see the new bldgs. being built that will be hosting Americans in the future I imagine. For us this was a great trip because we knew what to expect. We have stayed at the Bahia chain in the D.R. (Samana, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana as well as BlueBay In the Riviera Maya and I would say that the Iberostar is not up to par. However I have to say that we are talking Cuba here. For the price we paid... under 2g for two we got what we paid for. We went for the SUN, FUN,DRINKS and lastly FOOD. We as a couple make our vacation the way we want it to be and the ''little things'' don't bother us. Overall we had a great time... I don't think we will return to this resort again because there are sooo many. I think I prefer the landscape of the DR. more. By the way..... The day after we got back I was sicker than I have ever been in my life. Throwing up, dizziness etc for 1/2 a day.(my wife was fine) It might be my fault (Brutal Brugal!) just as much as it could have been something else. The fist time ever that I have returned and gotten sick in 7 trips down south. If you decide to go here let loose have fun and remeber which country you are in. Remember...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! Safe travels.

My wife and I were just down at the Mojito, again for our honeymoon, and once again were very happy with the resort overall. We stayed there from Oct 22-Nov 5, so it was a bit early in the season, and things were quiet. At times it was like we owned the place! No problems getting a cot by any of the pools, and the service at all the bars was amazing! Hats off to Lixander (Cheechu) in the lobby bar for his exemplary service, and pleasant demeanor, and great sense of humour! What an awesome formally trained bartender! Freddy in the cigar bar was also very entertaining to watch. Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail had nothing on him. I've been all over the world and have never seen a bartender throw bottles and glasses around like that! Thanks very much to Dejean, the hotel manager, as well, who did everything in his power, to make our honeymoon as enjoyable as possible! The staff at the Iberostar Mojito in Cayo Coco, are what makes the resort so special as a vacation destination. There were some signs of the outer edge of hurricane Matthew washing up a lot of seaweed onto the shore, but there were crews working on it to have it removed, and some of the palapas were being repaired and replaced. We quadded around the island, and went for a nice lobster meal at both Ranchon Las Dunas and Playa Prohibido at a very reasonable cost. Thanks to Lazaro at Cubacar, for helping us out with our transportation needs. Lots of things to do, like speedboat/snorkelling trips, Katamaran cruises, etc. In short we will be back as soon as we can arrange it! Highly recommend this resort.

We visited this resort from October 29 - Nov 5 2016. We were there with a large group of people that we met on our first visit in April 2016. I was very happy when arriving at the resort and we got special wrists bands for being a return guest and got a bottom floor room that we had wanted. The staff at this resort are absolutely amazing. 5 star service all the way here. They what makes this resort a wonderful place. However, some things at this resort have changed a lot since April. The two things that me and my fiancé loved the most about this resort were not really there this time. The cigar bar was our place we went every evening after dinner, they have now turned off the lights on the path to the cigar bar and stopped having Tahiti play here. The reason we were told was that the roof is unsafe and they don't want guests out there. Well close it then. We loved going there in the evening and having drinks and really like The bartender Freddy out there and buying a cigar ( shop is closed now). Too bad really it was an asset to the resort. The other highlight was the beach. Well I understand that this time of year the beach is not the best but there was kelp on that beach for weeks and was not cleaned the entire week we were there even after talking to guest services. The dried old debris was a breeding ground for sand flies and flies. You could not sit on mojito beach because of it. My fiancé watched the tracker drive around the mess and not clean any of it up. Most of the other resorts were cleaned daily. So the main reason we came there we could not use all week. The food was still excellent we ate Italian twice in our week didn't bother with other a la cartes because Buffett was good. Less selection then April but it's to be expected for low season. Was very good food. The pools were absolutely filthy this time as well. I cannot remember them being that dirty in April. There was a scum around the sides everywhere and the grates on side were disgusting. It really needs a good cleaning. Our room and rest of the resort was spotless. The resort is older and it needs some updating but it is always clean in common areas and rooms are cleaned very well. The cat situation on the resort needs to be addressed as well. It is really getting out of hand the last day we were there a kitten came in and was walking on a table in buffet. Our first room before we switched smelled like cat urine and had cats outside the room howling. Other than our few small complaints which I've put in more in hopes that management will read we had an awesome week. I'm sure the beach will be cleaned up once the hotel gets busier but they should make sure that there was at least one small section was cleaned for guests that paid to come stay and enjoy the beach. I would recommend this resort to others but maybe not on off season. If you choose to stay here remember it's not a new resort and don't expect a fancy resort. I've been to cuba many times and stayed 5 stars and 3 stars. For us cuba is our favourite all we need is decent food, clean rooms, good service and a nice beach. The mojito had all of this so I would go back anytime but not in off-season. We enjoy cuba for the beach and April is better.

As often I spend the week of October in my favorite Hotel in Cayo Coco. The weather was just right, not to much humid, sun and a bit of rain. One thing only that they renovating the beach bar and it was closed, instead they opened a small beach bar on the other site to the right on the way to the Sol Cayo, not many people by the ocean, mostly by the pool. As always, Ana and grey hair guy are the best at the reception, they go above and beyond to make your stay at the Mojito fantastic. Also the bartenders, Louis, Lexander and all of the working people are just great. I love this Hotel just waiting for the renovation to end and I'll be back for sure. Thank you all the staff to make my stay unmemorable, I feel like I am coming back to my Family there. I have to mention the towel Lady Dailin who always had smile on her face and clean towel to change. Oh I forgot about my cleaning Lady Milady, who I believe try hard to clean my room 1511, but it was not satisfactory to my liking. There were a lot of dust under my bed and in the corners. So I don't appreciate the cleaning very much. About the food, hmm, I was ok, but next to me was a woman who loudly complained saying nasty things about the food, I want to say that they get you what they have, what do you expect? New York steak? Schiskabob and greek salad? They feed you what they have got. Be realistic. All in all I personally have had great time.
