Eleven days in Paradise.

Susan H (Glen Burnie, Maryland) on May 17, 2024

The Melia Resort Cozumel did not disappoint. We had an ocean view room with a king bed. Very nice. The bathroom was a bit on the small size but was functional. Balcony was very nice. We could watch the cruise ships coming and going. The only problem was that we were on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator. Most nights there was an awesome sunset. There was two alacart restaurants and the buffet. The Fish House was very good. The Mole restaurant was good as well. The buffet was very good as well, different theme every night. The beach was beautiful and no problem getting a chair or hut. Drinks were good. Shout out to our Maid, Ms. Lorena, she took good care of us. Also to the wait staff and bartenders!! Freddy, Lupe, Jesus, Eric and Santiago, just to name a few. We would like to return but upgrade to the Level. The upgrade includes beach service, topshelf liquor, and other perks.

Beautiful welcoming resort

pennyt810 on May 16, 2024

This was our first all inclusive experience outside of a cruise. The Meliá delivered superb service and met all our expectations. We paid a little extra for the Level rooms with exclusive benefits and it was worth it. We enjoyed the beach cabanas with beverage service. Don’t be afraid to ask for beach cabana more than once as you’ll likely get it. Gorgeous reef for snorkeling just a short walk down the beach to the south If you are an avid snorkeler like me, walk waaaaay south before you get in water then the current will carry you back north to Meliá area lots of fish, small rays, octopus and possibly eels. May was the perfect time to go for less crowds. Taxi ride to San Miguel just $10

Anniversary trip

Experience402012 (Bury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom) on May 14, 2024

Had a great time at the Meliá! Smooth check in and lovely anniversary banner on the door to our room and a couple of extra bits inside to celebrate. Nice touch. Breakfast was really good and most of the food was better than average for the price point of the hotel. We levelled up and thought it was worth it. We love the beach and it was great to have beach service for drinks and the ability to pop up the stairs to the level snack bar. The only thing I found difficult was the manager at the Mexican restaurant we found him rude but all the other staff were really friendly and helpful. We will probably return

awesome property & employees

marshismello (Phoenix, Arizona) on May 13, 2024

we stayed in a preferred room,I would recommend that it is so worth it. beautiful, the hotel is beautiful, clean, well kept, the employees make it, every single one of them was nice, smiling & seemed they really enjoyed serving you, its not like that at a lot of all inclusives.pool is beautiful, beach is beautiful & lots of loungers. Hector was our concierge & he was wonderful, made reservations for bali beds & restaurants for us & always asking if we needed anything. All staff was outstanding no matter where you went. I would come back for sure.

Great vacation - but please change the resort music (elevator music is all you will get)

Lori H (Greeley, Colorado) on May 12, 2024

Friends trip and first time at this resort. My only big complaint is the music - ELEVATOR music, even at the swim up bar. It got old - real fast. We didn't want to go to kids pool to have to hear something better. They could really improve the atmosphere by playing Mexican music! Or any music other than constant elevator music everywhere. Level Up upgrade was worth it. We had to ask for "coupon book" as they forgot to give us and our friends that - which you should get as it gives money off of spa treatments and restaurants if you upgrade a meal. We forgot our coupon at restaurant when husband upgraded his steak so was hoping we could have our host in the Level Up area apply it later when we checked out - but they refused, said you have to have coupon in hand when you're at the restaurant. Don't expect much from the Level Up area (they mentioned Premium drinks, etc). I think it was only sodas, champagne and some wine, and maybe coffee. It's more like an office and wasn't very efficient - takes awhile to sit w/ the person there and make dinner reservations and check out, check in, etc. Rooms were clean and well maintained and I LOVED the wrist band if your room key - so efficient! Lots of bottled water to room each day which was nice and AC worked well. Ice is hard to find - there's an ice bucket in the room but the only place to get ice is at the restaurant or bar that may be open. Staff was friendly. Food not too great. Best thing is the omelet bar/grill. Anything in buffet was luke warm at best. Breakfast had no meat usually - so if you want bacon for example - get it at the omelet bar. We were told later that the Fish House serves breakfast, but only on certain days - the staff did not tell us about that. Spa (massages) were great. Bars sometimes ran out of things - like Grey Goose, Jack Daniels, limes, olives. Little snack area by the beach was great for chicken wings, hot dogs, etc. Also a beach bar next to the mexican restaurant was a good place to get a cocktail and we ordered food from there while sitting at bar one day but the next day we were told we can't order from there and had to go inside the mexican food restaurant to eat. We rented a jeep to tour the island - the best thing was we worked with our Ameristar rep and had the jeep delivered right to the hotel, then we drove the other side of island, and delivered it back to town the next day. Super convenient - so we didn't have to waste time in town renting. We did a snorkel tour one day - took a LONG time (we booked it through the Ameristar rep at the hotel). I wouldn't do that again as there were a LOT of people on the tour and you spend more time on the boat vs snorkeling. Next time, I would do something more private like rent a catamaran ourselves to be more efficient. Snorkeling was great right near the hotel - just walk past the big 'wall' and right on the other side is great clean clear water. Melia was a clean, friendly hotel and we had great time.
