As we head into the August long weekend and one of the busiest travel periods of the year, our focus is to reach an agreement that recognizes the important contributions of our cabin crew, while avoiding disruptions to our guests' travel plans. We know this is creating uncertainty for our WestJetters, our guests, and the businesses and communities we serve. We remain actively engaged in negotiations with the union and are committed to finding a path forward. We are prepared to make meaningful improvements to the collective agreement, while ensuring WestJet can continue to provide reliable service and careers for our people for years to come. Please visit WestJet’s Travel Advisory page for all guest and travel-related questions and westjet.com/cabincrew for the latest updates on bargaining. July 31, 2026, update The union representing cabin crew has not accepted WestJet’s most recent proposal, designed to be an industry-leading, transformative agreement for WestJet Cabin Crew. As a result, WestJet must begin the difficult process of parking 737 aircraft. Negotiation Q and As Q. What does "parking aircraft" mean? A: Parking aircraft does not mean the aircraft are being permanently removed from service or that the airline is ceasing operations. Parking aircraft is an operational decision that involves temporarily taking a number of aircraft out of active service. To accommodate this change, we are consolidating our schedule and combining some flights where possible, to maintain service and minimize disruption for guests. This approach allows us to continue operating a reliable schedule, while minimizing broader operational disruption across the network. Q: How many aircraft are being parked and when does this take effect? A: As of July 31, we are temporarily parking nine of our 737 aircraft to maintain control of our network, while providing the most reliable service possible for our guests. Q: What should guests do if their flight is affected? A: Guests with a flight impacted by a disruption will be notified by email, using the contact information provided in your reservation. Notifications will also be sent via SMS. To ensure you receive important updates, please verify that your contact information is up to date by visiting account settings and monitor your email and text messages regularly. You can also verify and update this information during check-in, 24 hours before your flight departure. We also recommend checking your flight status and visiting Manage Trips during disruptions, to access the most up to date information. If you've booked with WestJet Vacations, Sunwing Vacations or Vacances WestJet Quebec, you'll also receive a separate email with information about any impacts to your package from your Vacations provider, including available destination support and next steps. If your booking was made through a travel agency or third party, they may also contact you directly regarding changes to your itinerary. Q: Why is WestJet making the decision to park aircraft? A: This decision was made to ensure operational stability and reliability across the network. Consolidating schedules and temporarily parking aircraft allows us to deliver the most dependable operation possible, under current circumstances, while minimizing downstream impacts to guests. Q: What support is available for affected guests? A: We recognize that schedule changes can be frustrating. Our teams are focused on providing impacted guests with timely information and alternative travel options. We are proactively communicating with affected guests and working to make the rebooking process as smooth as possible. Q: Are WestJet Encore flights affected? A: WestJet Encore flights booked on a Q400 and WestJet codeshare flights operated by our airline partners will not be impacted in the event of a disruption.
