What you need to check in
All check in options require the following information:
- reservation code
- passport - required for all travel outside of Canada
- hotel name, destination address, cruise or transit airline - required for travel to the United States
- submit ArriveCAN – within 72 hours before arrival (for all entry into Canada)
Your boarding passes will be issued once check in is complete.

This easy tool can be used for departures from all Canadian and U.S. airports, but may not be available for departure from some International airports.
Airport check-in
When available, you can use a WestJet kiosk starting at 24 hours before departure or you can check in with a friendly guest assistance agent at the counter starting at up to three (3) hours before departure. Check-in options are detailed by departure country/city below. Please be aware that all check-in cut-off times apply to all options.

All timing below is shown in minutes before scheduled flight departure and applies to all check-in options. Additional time may be required as outlined below this table.

* Boarding Gate cut-off time is 10 minutes on most aircraft, but 15 minutes on Boeing 787 aircraft.
** International Check-in cut-off time is 60 minutes before estimated time of departure at most airports, but 75 minutes at Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR).
- Please check in with a WestJet agent if you:
- have purchased an extra seat;
- are part of a group of more than nine guests where all guests have the same last name;
- Baggage will be accepted three (3) hours before the scheduled time of flight departure at most locations. Checked baggage is accepted until the check-in cut-off time.
- Guests travelling with a pet in the cabin should allow an additional 30 minutes before check-in cut-off time.
- Guests travelling with a pet in their checked baggage must check in 90* minutes before the scheduled departure time. *Please note that some international airports will not check pets in more than 60 minutes before scheduled departure and U.S. airports will not check pets in more than 120 minutes before scheduled departure.
- Guests travelling with oversized or overweight baggage must check in 30 minutes before the check-in cut-off time.
- Guests requiring the use of a wheelchair (their own or one that is provided) should check in an additional 30 minutes before the check-in cut-off times.
- Guests travelling as an unaccompanied minor must check in with an agent 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
- Guests are recommended to be at the departure gate 40 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
- Guests arriving after the boarding gate cut-off time will be refused transport on that flight. Guests may be elegible for a same-day change under certain conditions.

1 The airline selling seats is referred to as the marketing carrier; the airline providing the aircraft, crew and ground-handling support is referred to as the operating carrier. Please check in with the code-share or interline partner operating the flight, or if you have connecting flights, the airline operating the first portion.
2 Guests have the option to select a seat in Premium at the time of check in, if available, for a fee. Seats in Premium are in the first three rows of the aircraft and include additional amenities.
3 Be sure to print your receipt for excess baggage fees to show the WestJet agent at baggage drop.
4 Depending on special services requested, your location and/or travel destination, web and mobile check-in may direct you to guest assistance for your boarding pass.
Saving e-boarding passes
Be sure to save a version of your e-boarding pass on your phone in case you find yourself without access to a wi-fi connection.
Apple device (iOS 10 or newer): you can add multiple e-boarding pass to Apple Wallet.
Android devices: save an e-boarding pass for one guest per device.
- A print version of an e-boarding pass will not be accepted.
- If you forgot to download your e-boarding pass, re-check in on your phone or at one of our airport kiosks. If you’re travelling to an airport that does not support e-boarding passes, we will happily issue you a print version.
- E-boarding passes cannot be forwarded. If necessary, we can re-issue your boarding pass to a different email address or account.
- If you’re travelling with a child, lap-held infant, or if you have purchased a seat for an infant in a restraint system, you are not eligible to receive an e-boarding pass
