Great holiday at Sandals Grenada

We are just back from a fabulous stay at Sandals Grenada Resort & Spa, which is located only 5 minutes from the airport. This was our very first stay at a Sandals Resort. The check in process was very smooth and quick, and among the best we have experienced anywhere. We stayed in room 9212 in the lagoon area of the resort. The balcony at the back of the room overlooks the lagoon and fountains (see picture). The airport runway is only a few hundred feet from the front entrance door, but this is not a problem, firstly because there are so few flights, and secondly we were not in the room most of the day. This room is on the upper top floor and had plenty of storage space, very large bed, a large shower, and a bath tub out on the balcony. The lagoon area is a 2-3 minute walk from the main pool area and some of the restaurants, whilst the beach and other restaurants are about a 5-7 minute walk. There is a wide choice of food available at 10 restaurants. Our favourite restaurant for both its a-la-carte breakfasts and dinners was the Le Jardinier French restaurant (trousers required for dinner). The food and service here is outstanding. We also really enjoyed our visits to Butch's Chophouse (mainly steaks and seafood), Neptune's (located near the beach, and the lamb chops were exceptional), Cucina Romana (Italian), and Spices. The freshly cooked pizzas at Dino's, located near the main pool, were delicious We also enjoyed a fun night at Kimonos Japanese restaurant, where the food is cooked in front of you. We had a drink at the Tipsy Turtle traditional British pub, but did not eat there, nor did we eat at the Soy restaurant (Sushi). I am a big curry eater and it was a bit disappointing there are no curries on the main restaurant menus. However, I found out I could order one at the culinary desk, and the next day I enjoyed a Grenadian curry for lunch at Neptune’s. It was delicious, and should be included on the menu in future. The main swimming pool is in the centre of the resort, and there is a quieter pool near Neptunes and the beach. The main pool has a swim-up bar, but does play fairly loud music most of the day. We preferred it on the beach, listening to the waves. There are 2 enclosed bays for swimming, both teeming with fish, great if you like snorkeling. There are boat trips from the beach along the coastline, which go to the harbour/port at St George and back. There were a handful of pedlars walking along the beach, but they left us alone once we said we didn’t wish to purchase anything. All the staff we met were amazing, so professional, friendly, and helpful. These include Vanester (see picture), Terel in the Italian restaurant, Terel, Akim, and Hakeem at the pool bar, Krishorna and Vincent in Neptune's, and Cody, Kimdonna, and Rocquel. We went on an excellent culture and nature tour with Ronnie of Zeyah Tours, booked via the Get My Guide App. This included a trip to the Grand Etang National Park tropical rainforest to see the views and Moca monkeys, Annandale waterfall and forest park, Alan’s spice garden, Clarke’s Court rum distillery, and House of Chocolate shop and museum. A great day out. When it was finally time to leave Sandals, 6 or 7 staff were there to sing us a song and wish us a safe journey home. A lovely touch. This holiday was a little more expensive than our usual trips, but overall we had a great time and we highly recommend Sandals Grenada.

We just completed our 6th trip to Sandals Grenada and once again it did not disappoint. While the 5 min ride from the airport to the resort, and beautiful, pristine beach location are amazing, it’s truly the incredible staff and service that keep us coming back. Highly recommend doing Butler service. Not only have our Butlers made each trip incredible and special but they have become part of our extended family and the real reason we keep coming back. A huge shout out to Brent, Neron, Kervin and Sylvika. We can’t wait to see you again. The rooms are comfortable and luxurious, the food options terrific (Butch’s and Soy our favorites) and the entertainment, excursion options and photo staff great. For a special occasion, I highly recommend the candlelight beach dinner and the sunset cruise excursion also a favorite. Can’t wait to be back next year! Thanks to Anil and everyone at Sandals for another amazing trip “home”.
