Prepare for landing – A new consistent cabin experience

WestJet is investing in a consistent on-board guest experience with a new cabin interior and amenities to create a cohesive look and feel across WestJet’s formerly economy-only aircraft. A full cabin refresh will introduce upgraded premium seating onto these aircraft and significantly expand the offering of popular Extended Comfort seating options. Highlights include newly designed seats, fast and reliable WestJet Wi-Fi Presented by TELUS, free for WestJet Rewards members, in-seat power and enhanced food and beverage options. The first of 43 planned aircraft with the new cabin will welcome guests in October 2025. From Premium to Economy, our newly reconfigured aircraft offers seating choices designed to fit every comfort level and budget, without compromising on amenities, connectivity or service.

Premium cabin

Experience the same seat model guests love on our 787 Dreamliner fleet, on our reconfigured narrowbody fleet with, ergonomically contoured seat cushions, reclining seat backs and a large headrest with four-way adjustment capability along with additional features and improvements including:  

  • The most legroom and space 
  • Adjustable recline  
  • Personal device (phone/tablet) holder 
  • Easy-access center console storage compartments 
  • Fixed drink table and pop-out snack tray easily accessible in-arm tables  
  • Power outlets, each with a universal AC socket and USB-C charging port 
  • Privacy-enhancing feature in last row 
  • Coat hooks

More options within the Economy cabin

Our newly reconfigured Economy cabin lets you choose the seat and experience that best suits your preference and budget - while still receiving our friendly WestJet service. Standard, Extended Comfort, and exit row seats have been upgraded with the following features: 

  • Seatback contouring to maximize legroom 
  • Crystalflex ™ ergonomically designed, bottom and back cushion comfort system
  • Sculpted armrest for maximum hip room  
  • Headrest with four-way adjustment capability 
  • Seatback personal phone/tablet holders and USB-A and USB-C charging ports 
  • Moveable center armrests 
  • Coat hooks

Standard seating

Providing choices in Economy with varied space and fixed recline seating to preserve personal space, all with the same great amenities and connectivity: 

  1. Back of cabin – offers less space: rows 20 - 31 
  2. Middle of cabin – offers a bit more space: rows 15 - 19 
  3. Toward the front of cabin - offers more space: rows 10 - 12 

Extended Comfort

Enjoy convenience and relaxation with a combined total of 36 Extended Comfort seats to select from that have been updated on our newly reconfigured aircraft. In addition to the new seat features, Extended Comfort seats also experience: 

  • Extra legroom 
  • Adjustable recline  
  • Front of Economy cabin 
  • Early access to overhead bin space
  • Cabin divider between the rest of the Economy cabin

Exit row seating

Board early and enjoy the most legroom in Economy. Perfect for travellers who want to stretch out. Exit row seats have all the amenities of our new standard seats.  

Note: Guests must meet and accept certain conditions to select this seat.

Stay connected in the air

All of these aircraft feature our new, fast, WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS and free for WestJet Rewards members, that will change the way you stream, shop, play and work in-flight, learn more. Each seat has a personal device (phone/tablet) holder and helps you stay entertained and charged with up to 60 watts of power, capable of charging laptops and other devices. Economy cabins have USB-A and USB-C Power outlets, and Premium cabins have a universal AC socket and USB-C charging port. Note: Two- or three-pronged power outlets are only available in the Premium cabin.  

"Economy seats only" aircraft

As our teams work diligently to execute the reconfiguration of these aircraft as soon as possible, we will continue to operate some Economy only aircraft, to sustain our growing network and prioritize providing our guests with increased access to affordable air travel. You’ll still enjoy our Economy service on “Economy seating only” aircraft, but Economy seats on this aircraft have limited legroom. As the aircraft await reconfiguration, some amenities, including power and Wi-Fi, may not be available.  These aircraft are safe, designed for comfort, and will continue to deliver the caring service you expect from WestJet. 

Identifying an “Economy seating only” aircraft

When booking on WestJet.com, you will be able to recognize if you are booking a flight on one of these aircraft by looking for the “Economy seats only” indicator. If you booked with a travel agent, corporate travel arranger or online travel agency, please consult them to confirm if your flight will be on an aircraft awaiting reconfiguration. 

To identify if you are travelling on “Economy seating only” aircraft for a previously booked trip: 

  • Visit the Flight Guide within 72 hours of your departure and identify if the “Economy seats only” label is displayed next to the listed aircraft type 
  • Review your Check-in email issued 24 hours prior to your departure and look for the “Economy is different on this aircraft” message 
  • When completing the check-in process on or after 24 hours prior to departure, look for the “Economy is different on this aircraft” message when selecting your seats
