Perhaps the most well-known tourist spot in Cuba is the resort town of Varadero – the perfect destination for families and those travelling with friends. Here, you’ll find plenty of all-inclusive resorts, nightspots with live music and a gateway to Cuba’s rich history. A two-hour drive outside Varadero will take you to Havana, Cuba’s capital city and main commercial centre. In Havana, you’ll find many opportunities to learn more about Cuba’s rich history, travelling between attractions in classic 1950s-era American automobiles in perfect condition (albeit with new parts).

The province of Holguin also offers many ways to experience Cuban culture. Located close to the resorts and hotels, you’ll find relaxed little towns, each home to their own authentic pieces of Cuban history and culture. Visit the Parque Calixto Garcia in the centre of Holguin city and get a taste of how locals live. Or, tour a Cuban cigar factory and learn more about how some of the world’s best cigars are made. And before you go, be sure to visit a shop or two for some distinctly Cuban mementos to bring home with you.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love Santa Clara on the island of Cayo Santa Maria. Mangrove forests and lagoons abound here and beautiful coral reefs offer ideal snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. Nearby, there are also many great fishing spots where experienced and beginner anglers can try their luck catching mahi mahi, amberjack, grouper and barracuda. Not to mention the dense rainforest and national parks just waiting to be explored.
Then there’s the island of Cayo Coco, probably best known for its high-end luxury resorts and hopping nightlife. During the day, Cayo Coco offers the ultimate in spa relaxation. Book a morning massage and spend the afternoon lounging in the sun on a beachside hammock. Or head out on the water and catch the breeze, crossing mangrove channels and taking in the fresh sea air. End the day with a soothing mojito from the popular Playa Flamenco. This spot even offers transportation to and from your resort (included in your cover charge).
Wherever you choose to stay in Cuba, you’ll enjoy white sand beaches, colourful reef and plenty of opportunities to relax and explore the outdoors.
