Fun place to attend a conference!

Patrick O (Mount Holly, North Carolina) on Jun 14, 2024

This is a great place for a convention. The rooms and the atrium are top notch. The convention center is attached and it is fun to walk throughout this place and explore. We had a great experience. Plan to get your walking in, but it is fun walking.

Not worth your time and money.

We went to the Gaylord with our family of 4 and the appeal was the water park for our kids. The water park was very cool with many slides. Our daughters loved it and couldn’t get enough. Unfortunately, we witnessed vulgar behavior from the lifeguards (cursing at each other and giving each other the finger) and they all seemed to hate their jobs. They were like a bunch of zombies walking around not engaging or smiling at anyone. They weren’t friendly or engaging despite seeing them numerous times while riding the slides. MyMy was the only lifeguard who actually engaged with us. Additionally, we were given the wrong room number at check in and had to trek all of our things across the massive resort. The front desk agent didn’t give us any insights into what the resort had to offer. It was a simple welcome, here are your keys and enjoy the resort. We also witnessed an employee at the Gelato shop spraying windex on the inside of the glass getting windex on the top of all the Gelato. The outdoor pools at the resort closed at 6pm, which was super early. We showed up at 7pm and were told it was already closed. Lastly, the resort fee and parking fees were a bit egregious and we were never told at check in that parking would be charged automatically to the room so we double paid upon exiting the resort. Take your family to sound waves, but stay at another resort.

Nice bit way too expensive!

TRAVELINMANFROMNJ (Matawan, New Jersey) on Jun 10, 2024

Stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel for a recent conference. It was just an ok experience. First thing to take into consideration is how expensive everything is. From parking to food it’s probably 2-3 times as expensive. A slice of pizza is $7 before taxes, 1 liter bottle of water $8 plus tax. The place is huge, over 3000 room. As you walk the hallways trying to find your room we will groups of people looking for their rooms too. It reminds me of one of those end of the world movies with groups of survivors meeting other survivors. The place is beautiful and if your room has a balcony then it’s nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. Just hope your room doesn’t overlook a bar or restaurant, the noise carries. Also, the walls must be paper thin between the rooms because you can hear everything going on in the adjoining rooms. Over the place is very clean and pretty nice but it’s not a luxury hotel and I expect more at this price point.

Good water park. Mediocre room, Restaurants closed for private events.

Room (standard accommodation) is mediocre at best. Nowhere near work the price, but you are paying for resort experience... Right? Guess want - the most popular resort dining options are booked for private events. So enjoy paying to stay at a resort then getting your vehicle to leave campus because the good restaurants are booked for private events or are fully reserved. What a joke.

3 Stars Could Be 4 With Attention To Detail

mrsglobeklotter (Zurich, Switzerland) on Jun 06, 2024

3 Stars, BUT could be 4 stars with some much needed attention to detail. First the good: Beautiful property, and it’s huge. The entire hotel is made up of biospheres with tropical plants, waterfalls and river/lagoons. Interior rooms open up on to these areas and it’s really quite lovely. We didn’t do the water park, so I can’t speak to that. A super place for young kids - think 1970’s kids able to run free and have a blast. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Most important, the AC works beautifully! Little balcony to sit out on and people watch was also fun. Lots of restaurants to choose from, and bars are also good. Love the natural light with air conditioning. Can’t go much wrong there. Room rate is very reasonable. The bad: The room design is a bit funky. You have to close the bathroom door to open the French door closet door, and difficult for two people to navigate, let alone a family. Drove me crazy and a simple remodel would take care of that. There’s a vanity sink with nowhere to put a hand towel, so they don’t provide one. I asked three days straight for two extra hand towels to no avail, and never did get one. The place is so large, navigation is a bit difficult. Definitely download the app, it’s helpful. No bathrobes (I packed light and didn’t bring jammies so I had to get dressed to enjoy coffee on the balcony), no vanity kits, etc. We had a connecting room and could hear EVERYTHING when someone was in that room. Housekeeping arrived either at 8:30 am (hello this is Nashville people are out late) which wasn’t a big deal, except that we had to beg to get them back (time of writing the review is 4:15 pm and using last night’s towels). No turn down service - something every waterpark should have. And again, the amenities are scarce. Not what I expect from a Bonvoy property. Ride share and taxi area is not close. Not even a little. If you’re a woman wearing heels, you may want to inquire about help. We ended up getting one at the Presidential Portico, also difficult to find. Just a bit of a nightmare. The fitness room was the biggest fail. Nicely appointed, sadly much of it not working. 4 Peleton bikes, only one working and when I signed into my account, I couldn’t get it to Bluetooth to my AirPods, so I bailed on that. Life Fitness universal machine, only one cable working. Two of the treadmills I hopped on, not working. Cold towels, empty. Water was not cold, even though you had the option to choose hot or cold. And I’ll mention it, though I don’t think it’s normal, the AC was broken all week. I get red faced working hard, but not THAT red faced! The room had to be at least 85 degrees and high humidity being located above the indoor pool. Would we come back? Yes. But I hope they get these wrinkles worked out. Next time we venture to Nashville we will, however, stay downtown.
