Holiday tips to make sure you’re Travel Ready

‘Tis the season for holiday travel and reconnecting with the people and places we love most. We’ve put together our top 8 travel tips and reminders to make your journey as smooth as possible this holiday season.

Remember providing your proof of vaccination QR code is mandatory during check in 

Canada's mandatory vaccination policy is in effect, and all guests are required to provide their proof of vaccination QR code before their flight. It’s important to ensure that the name on your proof of vaccination matches both the name(s) on your booking and government-issued photo ID, and that you’re uploading your Smart Health QR Code as a .jpg or .png file (not a .pdf).

Know entry requirements before you go

Be sure to check entry requirements for each flight on your trip. These requirements may change while you’re in-destination, so we recommend checking before you return home as well. Don’t forget, all incoming travellers to Canada must complete an ArriveCAN declaration before their flight.

Wear your mask

Arrive early to the airport 

We’re experiencing an increase in processing times due to additional COVID-related requirements. Start your trip earlier to ensure you make it through airport security on time.

 For all WestJet departures, we suggest you arrive at the airport 120 minutes before departure if you are traveling within Canada, and 150 minutes for international travel.

The safety of our guests and WestJetters has and continues to be our top priority. All our aircraft are equipped with an industry-leading air circulation system containing a HEPA filter, similar to what’s used in hospitals. Not only do these filters introduce fresh air into the cabin every 2 to 3 minutes, but they also capture and filter 99.99% of all airborne particles so you can breathe a little easier.
