Not sports team friendly!

Amanda L on Nov 18, 2025

THIS HOTEL IS NOT FRIENDLY TO SPORTS TEAMS!! In fact, the night supervisor specifically said that the manager doesn't prioritize hockey tournaments. The night supervisor (Leah P) demonstrated only contempt for the parents and children who were associated with the 2 hockey teams staying at the hotel. As such, the hotel is intolerant to working with teams as issues arise and instead, resorted to threatening to call security and the police! In fact, they did call security on some kids running in the hallways shortly after 10 pm. Even before then, the hotel staff was unreasonable in their determination of what constituted noise. The night supervisor said (paraphrasing): if your talking is louder than the soft music I am playing, then I will be calling security, and after that, the police. If the hotel doesn't want the business of sport team booking, then don't accept the room block request!! If you are part of a sports tournament, do not stay here. Additionally, the rooms are outdated. There are very few plugs or charging ports, and the dim lighting masks how dated the rooms are. I did enjoy the water pressure, but the temperature was finicky. Can fluctuate between burning hot or freezing cold with the slightest adjustment to the faucet. The pool is so chlorinated that my son lungs were burning, and he actually said he didn't want to go at one point because he didn't want to hurt his lungs for his upcoming game. A couple of other kids effectively had chemical burns (excessive itching; psoriasis looking splotches)! The hot breakfast was cold. The waffles were undercooked - so much so that the butter wouldn't melt. And in the middle of breakfast, they were already running out of supplies.

Another great stay!

budsfan29 (Vaughan, Canada) on Oct 07, 2025

Everything about our stay was very good. My wife and I had a very comfortable room with a King bed on the 4th floor with a great view of the mountains. It also had a fireplace and small fridge. The front desk was always extremely helpful including providing bear spray and handling an Amazon delivery. Breakfast had loads of hot and cold choices and is served on real plates with cutlery. The coffee could have been a little less strong. The location is great, just off the highway and close to everywhere in Canmore. There is ample free parking and when there was ice on our car one morning the front desk clerk provided us with a scraper brush. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but they looked nice. This was our second great stay at the Pocaterra and we will be back on our next visit to Canmore.
