Terrible service from Mike in Valet.

I usually have no problems when it comes to making drop offs as an Uber driver here at the Aulani resort. However, this last drop off I made wasn't so great, as I was rudely approached and lectured by a valet staff member by the name of Mike. He told me that because the riders I dropped off were my guest, that I should be unloading their bag, not him. My thoughts are, 'Isn't that you're job as a valet?! I don't work in the tourism or customer service industry; I work in trans-portation. Just doesn't seem right that he would tell it's my job. As a hotel worker, I would think he would have a little more Aloha and be an Ambassador of it. It's not like they were understaffed either, in which I would understand. There were a lot of Valet workers. It seems as though he was just making an excuse not to do his job.
Amazing hotel, see my orientation and walkthrough on YouTube

As usual on my Tripadvisor hotel reviews, I’ve done a video to help Tripadvisor readers - search ‘wakeywarrior’ on YouTube to see a full speedy orientation and all you need to know, in that lasts around 7.5 minutes. Anyway, hotel is stunning. Amazing views, beautiful building, good quick serve and pool bar. Fabulous bays and beaches outside. Great staff. Special shout out to the two ladies and Marine chap fitness instructors who put on great fitness classes every morning at the beach- circuit training, slam ball, yoga etc. They made the holiday for us. My only complaint is there are not enough pool chairs and it’s virtually impossible to get 4 together unless you are down by 8am, and even then we had people stealing our chairs when we got up to go in the pool etc. Disney need to expand the number of chairs quite dramatically, everyone was complaining. Not acceptable at this price point. Apart from that, it’s excellent.

Great property, very nice family friendly suites, food and service were excellent. Definitely better for younger kids because of all the Disney branding. The character brunch was awesome. Highlight of the trip was paddle boarding in the lagoon. Water is calm enough to take kids out on the paddle board.
Amazing, Magical Hotel! We didn't want to leave!

We spent 8 nights at Aulani in August 24 and it was honestly one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed at From the moment you arrive, you're met with smiling, friendly staff members who say 'Aloha, welcome home!' ?? We were staying in one of the deluxe studios with an ocean view & it was lovely. The view from the balcony was spectacular. Our daughters shared the pullout sofa bed and we had the large bed that was SO comfortable! There was a large shower over the bath. We drove to the hotel and used the complimentary parking for DVC members. The pool area, lazy river, slides were amazing & we all enjoyed using them when we were not exploring the island. One piece of advice to the resort is that if you're going to offer refillable cups for the duration of your stay, these should not be switched off before the pool area closes. A few times children were in the pool until 10pm but the drinks machines were turned off at 9pm. It makes no sense. Whilst I know that things are going to be expensive when you go to Aulani or stay at a Disney hotel, I think that charging $4 for a Banana or Apple isn't promoting healthy eating, particularly when your main target audience is children & family. There's just no justification to charge that when you can get one for $0.50 at the supermarket across the street. The beach area was clean & gorgeous - I'll never get bored of seeing that turquoise ocean! There were a few beach games that were free to use & you can get free boogie boards to use all day of your wish. Overall a magical Disney experience & we were all gutted to leave. We'll be back one day...until then 'A Hui Hou' ??
Not Worth the Money

I don't know why people are willing to pay 5-star prices for a 2-star (at best) hotel. Lesson learned for our family. My family and I just stayed at the Aulani in August 2024 with our 10yr old daughter. We chose to stay here because my sister and her two younger kids were staying at the Aulani, so we wanted to be together. Here are the negatives: 1) NO ROOM SERVICE. My parents got sick during their stay and couldn't leave their rooms. Not having room service is a HUGE inconvenience. 2) No water provided in the room. There are 3 water filling stations on the entire property and they are all on the ground floor. We were on the 14th floor. One of the filters by the gym had a red (change filter) light the whole 8 days we were there (yuck!) and the other one is by their crowded Ulu cafe where you'll be elbowing your way to the ice and water machines no matter when you go. No filter health indicator lights on those machines, but guessing poorly maintained as well. When I asked about getting some water sent to the room one night, they told me to drink from the tap. They said HI water is very clean. I'm sure it is, but I can still taste the chlorine in it. 3) LINES & CROWDS everywhere. Pool facilities & slides being used by non-Aulani resort guests. You're paying that expensive daily resort fee to use their facilities, but no one is checking wrist bands. So, guests from other hotels are taking up chairs, space in line on the slides and in the pools and skipping those fees you're paying. 4) DIRTY pool water. We've stayed at plenty of hotels with high guest volume and their pools are managed better. Water is always cloudy and filmy. 5) You'll be woken up every morning at about 5:15AM to an odd burning slightly sweet smell wafting into your bedroom if your A/C is on. I'm guessing this is from one of their kitchens starting up breakfast in the morning. 6) Poorly cleaned rooms. My daughter took a bath on the second night and turned on the jacuzzi jets to the bathtub, only for black mildew to jettison out into the tub and all over her. 7) Everything is overpriced and low-quality (the Disney way!). We booked an Ocean View King Suite at around $2,000/night and were shocked at how cheap the room felt. We've stayed at luxury hotels for less, but at least we were given luxury amenities. It was bare-bones minimum in our Aulani suite: paper cups, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a Keurig coffee machine (but nothing to stir your coffee with - maybe they want you to use your finger to be environmentally friendly?). Overall, if you want to pay a premium for a low-grade hotel only to have Disney characters hug your kid, then this is the place for you.
