Hidden Gem

riptidemarket (NYC, United States) on Apr 22, 2024

This is a hidden gem! The rooms are very modern & well maintained. Had a full kitchen. Plenty of loungers all over the property. Pool area is large with a great view of the water. Beach area is tight, but was in the water most of the time so not important. Sandy bottom, few rocks. Beach food & drink service. Would definitely rent a car to get into town & explore the area.

Nice rooms but seaweed covered beach

Stephen D on Apr 05, 2024

My family and I arrived at the Grand Case Beach Club ready to love it - a location we booked specifically for the private beaches. Within only a few hours, however, I almost booked us into another hotel, and here’s why. The day before we arrived, the island had experienced severe winds, so a TON of seaweed had covered the hotel’s private beach. Of course, I completely understand the hotel has no control over the wind and the amount of seaweed the ocean dumps on the beach but what we found ourselves disappointed with for our entire stay was how the hotel handled the situation. For example, when we checked in, the front desk provided us with a short letter explaining they had recently experienced a “little problem” with seaweed on the beach. A “little problem” was an understatement, to say the least. Immediately after we checked in, we walked over to the water to find a pile of seaweed almost a foot high that spanned the entire length of the beach, not to mention how it filled the water. Taking a closer look at the letter they provided, the hotel’s position was that sweeping the seaweed back into the water (rather than sweeping it aside or anywhere else, for that matter) was the most ecologically-friendly solution to the issue and that it would clear up within a few days. That was March 30th. We checked out on April 4th and there was still a LOT of seaweed on the beach. Why? Because sweeping it into the ocean only seems to wash it back onto the beach overnight. Rather than sweeping it toward either side of the beach, their best solution was to put it right back in the water because, apparently, that's what is best for the seaweed rather than the hotel’s guests. So, our solution to the “little problem” was to drive to other beaches every day that were either seaweed-free or where other hotels cleaned the beaches by sweeping the seaweed to the side of the beach. As a result, we spent (read: wasted) a fair amount of money renting chairs at different beaches around the island. Also, for $400+ per night, one would not expect to find brown water coming out of the showerhead. This happened every time I turned on the water. Sure, it only lasted about a minute, but really? As for the rest of Grand Case about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, it leaves a lot to be desired. There’s a reason you can’t access the Grand Case Beach Club without passing through heavy metal gates and there’s also a reason there’s a security guard posted on the street every night. This was our second visit to St. Martin and, likely, the last.

Stunning resort!

cgomps (McMurray, Pennsylvania) on Mar 18, 2024

We arrived just as the sun was setting and absolutely spectacular views! We are back now just a few weeks and seriously planning a return! We had a loft room and it was perfect!! Very comfortable and beautiful views!! Staff was excellent! Hector took care of all our restaurant reservations and Rinni was our housekeeper and especially sweet and friendly! We mainly are beach people but did venture to the pool a few times! What a view up there! We loved the walkway around the water and lounges! The convenience of walking to dinner in Grand Case was especially nice!! We felt very safe walking at night as security guards are present along the quiet part of the walk back. The SuperU is well stocked and only a few minutes away by car. We would recommend this resort and hope to return!

Wonderful Hotel and Great Customer Service!

franbC3470EP on Mar 17, 2024

We visited St. Martin in 2023 and spent part of our visit at the Grand Case Beach Club. We loved it so much we decided to do the same thing again this year. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are very well equipped with all the necessities you might need. The views from our balcony were spectacular. The customer service is excellent as all of the staff are anxious to help with anything needed. It's about a 10 minute walk into town to go to so many amazing restaurants. And if desired, the hotel offers transport for about $4 per person. This is a wonderful hotel that I would highly recommend. We will most definitely be back.

Wonderful Caribbean beach vacation

noral384 (Shaker Heights) on Feb 23, 2024

Wonderful hotel right on the beach in Grand Case, St. Martin (French side). Large, very comfortable room, nice bathroom, well stocked kitchen. Room had a nice patio with table, 2 chairs and one lounge overlooking the garden; most rooms have ocean view, but garden view was private and quiet. Staff was very helpful. Easy walkable distance to all the fabulous restaurants in town, tho there is a shuttle (for a small fee), if you prefer. 2 beaches are part of the hotel; the sand portion is relatively small, but the water wonderful. There is also a pool with a lovely view. We did not try the restaurant, but heard good reviews. There is a small gym, and water equipment available, though not what I would call a “resort” by US standards; more like a high end beach hotel. Lovely. Quiet, relaxing vacation. Jan. -March they have a great Carnival parade and vendors on Tuesday nights; don’t miss it! Wouldn’t hesitate to return.
