Great location, close to Downtown Victoria

charliewhiskeytravel (Dieppe, Canada) on Jul 10, 2025

We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Vancouver Island, 2 nights after arriving at YYJ and on Canada Day the night before our flight out. The rooms are standard size, clean, quiet and comfortable. The location on the waterfront is fantastic and you can easily walk to restaurants etc. just across the harbour. You can also take a water taxi from a dock in front of the hotel. On site parking is available in an underground parking garage, valet parking is also available it was $25+ per night for either option. We arrived early on Canada Day but were able to park our vehicle before our room was ready and store our luggage with the front desk so we could go enjoy the festivities downtown. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and quiet. Highly recommend this hotel if staying in Victoria.

Good choice overall in Victoria, although some "View" rooms are suspect

Snead H (San Francisco, California) on Jul 05, 2025

I spent a few nights here in June. Overall, it’s a generally good choice. While it’s not located in the core of the center city, it’s a relatively short walk over a bridge and down a couple of blocks to reach the DT core area that offers good shopping, restaurants, etc. On the harbor side of the Ocean Point Resort, you’ll also find a pleasant, paved walkway that’s also great for a morning stroll. It parallels the harbor and passes by various nice waterfront condo properties. So bottom line, there are several nice appealing options to get your daily steps in. My guest room and bath were comfortable, contemporary, large and tastefully furnished. I appreciated the fridge, microwave, sink, and provided kitchen utensils. I drove to a grocery store a couple miles away to pick up a few breakfast items, so didn’t use the hotel for breakfast. We did eat one dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The food was average and the service below average. It took an extended time to get our food on a very quiet evening. I wouldn’t prioritize eating here, other than maybe a Happy Hour visit. There are better food options within walking distance. The restaurant does command pleasant harbor views, so that’s a mild upside. I do have one word of caution to prospective guests about guestroom views and paying extra for this perk. I opted to pay extra for a “view” room when I initially booked the reservation using a third-party website. Do be aware that the hotel charges a premium for all guest rooms on the harbor side. Non-view guestrooms on the front side of the building, (especially on lower floors,) are really a poor view overall. Here’s the key point, however on better views. The hotel has two “view” exposures. Premier views are in the portion of the building that’s directly above the restaurant or swimming pool on higher floors. The other wing of the building on the harbor side has vastly inferior views, especially on lower floors. For example, my “view” guestroom generally faced a neighboring high-rise condo development, with the waterway some distance away partially obstructed by trees. It was downright substandard, yet I paid a premium rate for this exposure. If you look at published photos of the exterior of the property, you’ll note the building wing on the LEFT side of the property with trees shown below. The hotel should really designate these particular rooms as “partial view." (Yes, they’re better than facing the front of the building, but woefully poor versus the premiere center section views. I did raise the view topic at check-out with the pleasant young lady at the front desk. She did agree to waive the parking fee to partially placate my dissatisfaction. If you’re planning a visit to Victoria and have flexibility in your timing, do try and avoid staying on a Friday or Saturday night as room rates are elevated on the weekend. Lodging is pricey here, although cheaper than Vancouver, which has crazy high hotel rates. Still, the bottom line is that the place is generally good overall. I’ll still recommend it. The cool, crisp, summer weather season in Victoria is simply terrific. So fresh and invigorating. A great city.
