Active Advisories
Aston at the Waikiki Banyan has scheduled upcoming maintenance, renovation and modernization projects which may impact guest accommodations.
Elevator Modernization Project
- Elevator modernization work will commence on April 22, 2024, and continue through April 30, 2025.
- Work will be limited to Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Each elevator will take approximately 13 weeks to modernize.
- Each tower has four elevators, and only one elevator will be out of order at a time. Therefore, throughout this project, there should be three remaining elevators in each tower in operation for use by owners and guests.

During this time, there will be no access to the following 6th floor facilities: the swimming pool, jacuzzi, playground, BBQ area and grills. However, the recently renovated saunas and restrooms will remain open for guest use. Work will be limited to Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Noise from this renovation project, including concrete drilling and spalling of the deck, is expected.

A hotel well past its prime but in an excellent location and adequate for budget travelers.

First time traveler to Hawaii but avid worldwide traveler (22 countries). Don't expect a lot from lodging in Hawaii as the infrastructure is outdated and years beyond renovation periods. Initially, Waikiki Banyan left me a little surprised as the room needed some work and wasn't very clean at all. Took a rag, wiped the coffee table and the towel was black. Found several hairs around the room including the bathtub. Furniture also outdated. Bed and linens were old. The stove worked well, and other appliances were good. Pots, pans, and utensils were adequate. One Teflon pan was severely scratched, though. We spent 7 nights here and by the end of the trip I got used to the room and ended up liking it. The other positives are that the room and kitchen were spacious, and the balcony was a big plus. I think this hotel is kind of standard in Hawaii unless you want to spend the big bucks. I have seen the nice rooms in the Hilton and Marriot, they are NOT worth the money. They are just ok, just newer and cleaner but way overpriced. US hotels have a low standard, so you have to get used to it. If you stay, bring some sandals for wearing in the room and perhaps spend a couple hours cleaning and then you will feel better. Maybe bring a sheet to put over the couch. Customer service was very good, and the location is 5 stars! For context, I work in building maintenance, own two Airbnbs I clean myself, and work in customer service.
Great location, but condos are tired and need cleaning and refurbishment

1-rooms and hallways need refurbishment 2-air conditioning loud and not efficient cooling-wise 3-bed isn't firm 4-on-going various major maintenance (over a year) 5-blackout curtain rod came off 6-shower gel fell off the wall 7-living room couch needs deep cleaning and all 3 seating cushions (see photos) were torn and ripped 8-separate parking lot management firm almost doubled the daily rate; pricey to park a rental car
