Lack of restaurants and food choices.

We were at this resort from January 19 to the 26th. We were aware that it used to be a Barcelo and was bought by Solaris lighthouse in October and still have some take care of such as cleaner, pools, variety of food, more activities, and entertainment. There is just one buffet and one à la cart at this resort. The cart restaurant switches between Mexican and Italian and you have to get up 7 AM to try to get your name down for a reservation for la cart restaurant each day. Timeshare members get presidents on early reservations. The buffet does not open till 1 PM for lunch, but they do have a snack bar that serves the same thing every day hamburgers hotdogs with birds and pigeons walking over the serving trays We were not impressed with the food at this resort and the choices They push timeshare big time at this resort, which takes away 2 to 3 hours of your time for them to try to get you to sign up as a member. Resort is beautiful and very clean, rooms are spacious, clean and beds are comfortable. The resort needs to work on their entertainment and other activities within the resort and have a better way of letting your guest know what is going on for each day. Due to the lack of food choices, we will not return to this resort.

Spotlessly clean everywhere at the resort, comfortable beds, great service, good food (especially the fresh Mexican dishes), fast and friendly bar service at the pools, it was hard to find fault with anything! We give it a solid 4*. Good value for the cost. The Mexican Fiesta Friday nights is excellent, good food and entertainment. We wish there was some live musical entertainment at the hotel though. Only one guy singing at the fiesta (but he is good!) They actually don’t water down the drinks (except the orange juice!) so the pool can get noisy mid-afternoon. And I did wish they didn’t allow people to bring their own speakers to the pool! The service was wonderful, fast and friendly especially in the buffets. A special thank you to Calixto with his friendly smile and warm enthusiasm, and Martha, such a sweetheart, and the Captain Edgar, who really went the extra mile making sure we were comfortable and well-served. It’s great to see a manager who actually works as hard, or harder, than his staff! Our only complaint: the coffee really needs improvement. And the Italian restaurant should have Pinot Grigio! Overall, the food was really good, and I highly recommend the hotel. A lot of people seem to get sucked into having breakfast with the time share salesmen. We just told them we’re too old to get health insurance and are never traveling out of Canada again. Nobody bothered us.
