We have been regular travelers to Puerto Vallarta since 2012 and have stayed exclusively in all-inclusive resorts using WestJet vacation services. We have the advantage of weekly direct flights from Comox British Columbia which makes PVR accessible and our preferred winter destination. The Hilton Puerto Vallarta was a new experience for us and we chose it for its prime waterfront location, easy access by cab to the Malecon and its gluten free dining options. During our stay, I had a significant problem with a credit card. Hilton Guest Services, the Front Desk and Resort Financial Services provided invaluable assistance to remediate the situation. I am very grateful for their assistance especially from the Front Desk Supervisors, Hector and Jorge. It has really boosted my appreciation for Hilton Resorts. The gluten free food experience was very important as my daughter-in-law is celiac. We chose Hilton due to its good reviews on Trip Advisor and by studying menus on the internet. We were surprised by the variety of choices, the concern by staff for dietary restrictions and offers by the kitchen to prepare special dishes if needed. This was a superior level of service we had not experienced before at other locations. The resort staff has many diamonds and all were particularly obliging ensuring a memorable vacation. From the chef who danced and sang while preparing a grill full omelets to the bar tender who gave me a fascinating history of the origins of tequila in Jalisco, it made for a most enjoyable trip. There were many more positives including watching manta rays and whales from our balcony so it is definitely a location to consider visiting.
Good stay for the price we paid

Just returned from a trip between Christmas and New Year's with my family of 4 (2 boys aged 9 and 12). Booked a last minute trip with Westjet Vacations on Travel Tuesday which was a fairly good deal given the time of year. All in all it was a good stay for what we paid relative to our last 2 AI trips to PV area (both at the Dreams Bahia Mita). Our package included a Premium room which was on the top floor (14th) of the hotel. The view from the balcony was spectacular of the entire bay and that was a real treat to be able to enjoy it every morning and every night. We saw whales daily, and even manta rays underneath the water just beyond the hotel beach. The room itself was roomy, and decorated simply (which I preferred). We heard some people complaining to the front desk that their rooms were loud or humid - up high we heard nothing and yes, it's humid if you leave the balcony doors open since it's right on the water! But once the doors are closed the AC does the job. The highlight of the hotel was the swimmable beach. It was like a pool, gentle and refreshing. Beach side service was also prompt and attentive. Chairs can be hard to get by the pools, but they seemed to always have enough chairs on the beach. The resort was very full when we were there but we knew that would be the case traveling over the holidays. We expected the elevators up to our room to be milk runs but actually that was fine too. As some have mentioned, the variety of food (at breakfast and for lunch) is not as wide as at other resorts but everything that we did eat was delicious. The lunch restaurant Cocomar (seafood) was great but way too busy, and they needed another option (although they did do poolside burgers etc). We also would have preferred more grab and go cafe and coffee options for the morning like we had at Dreams BH. If you ordered real cocktails (ie not slushy drinks pool side) they were also great (Negronis, French 75, chocolate martinis etc). The app was not dependable for dinner reservations but when we talked to concierge the reservations never seemed to be a problem. The level of service throughout the resort was a lot better than at Dreams. Our room was cleaned promptly every day. A disappointment for us was that the Family Lounge (foosball, video games) could only be used by the kids when parents were there unless all the kids in your party were 12 or over. The nightly entertainment was average, but they did put on a big party for New Years including an amazing fireworks show virtually right in front of our balcony. All in all it was a good stay for the price we paid.
