Disappointing Resort
Irene P on Dec 13, 2025
With the exception of Omar at the Chido Bar the experience was disappointing. The rooms were great but the food options were terrible. Only able to access the two buffet restaurants which constantly ran out of food. Information regarding what was happening at the resort was on the ap but the wifi constantly went down. Was advertised as a new hotel but it was just a renovated section of the Coba resort changed to adults only. The noise from the entertainment was extremely loud and better suited to a Hard Rock Cafe resort. Had to take trolleys to the other end of the complex to access our beach. Concierge service was unable to assist with requests for al la carte restaurants - providing us with the 2 rooms with queen beds we had booked.
We went so you don’t have to……run.

First the pros then the cons Pro the room was clean Now the cons. There is no pool service, there is no beach service, there is no room service, there is no food available after 10pm. there is poor customer service with few exceptions. There is no honesty, staff lied to our faces, there is no reliable internet, there is no chance of using your limited a la carte meals, the buffet food was cold, monotonous, and poorly labeled so if you have food allergies, may the odds be in your favor. Food at Coba snack bar was far superior. No nightly shows. Had to go to Coba for that or attend one of the special parties at Tequila which came with an admission fee as well as a $6 charge per drinks…..at an all inclusive? Sandwiched between the Coba lobby and the party pool we were subjected to booming bass from one side or the other from 10am to 1am. Especially unenjoyable when both were booming at the same time. Great if you like techno music I guess. No dedicated beach space and no beach service. The beach trolly lets you off at Tulum beach. There will be children. Very difficult to get restaurant reservations and you are limited to 3 a week, It seems there is new management/ownership. My understanding is that Hyatt is now managing the property and they are making some very poor decisions. We have stayed at Coba twice before and found it fairly positive for a family vacation. We were excited to try Tequila but from the very first day we were let down. I mentioned on check in that I preferred a ground floor room due to a health condition, the room was up stairs. Internet didn’t work on 3 of our 4 devices for most of our ten day stay. Front desk staff were no help, other than Alondra who tried very hard. Service in the lobby bar was terrible, and we were given paper towels when we asked for coasters for our drinks as they sweat all over the table. We regret choosing this resort and our experience here has made us reluctant to return to any Bahia Principe resorts. What a disappointment.
