Disappointed and upset.

jo w (falkirk) on May 17, 2024

Have visited this hotel annually since 2014. Management need to make some serious policy reviews. We always pay the extra money to stay in a swimup casita as this promises exclusivity, excellent service and quiet, romantic seclusion. The previous 2 years, our holiday was completely ruined by wedding parties taking over our “ exclusive “ pool. They dominated what should be a quiet relaxing area with their loud music, foul language and inconsiderate behaviour . The people shout to each other, are intrusive and are incapable of holding a quiet conversation between themselves . There is no way of knowing if these people are staying in casitas or if they migrated up from the Royale side, with their superior air of entitlement, as no wristbands are worn. Management had reassured us that the wedding parties were going to be handled differently in future , so we decided to return once again this year. This year was particularly loathsome with music blasting out from several speakers. When I politely asked for the music to be turned down, I was subjected to rude and foul mouthed abuse. This was reported to management, however no action was taken. I was extremely upset by this behaviour. I understand that it is a wedding venue, but the hotel needs a serious overhaul. It is sold as a luxury, romantic destination with excellent facilities, but the reality is that you are in the middle of a wedding party, an onlooker and outsider in your own area, subjected to abuse when you ask for simple respect. Not one member of staff was concerned about the guests rude behaviour towards us or our ruined holiday. You are losing returning, loyal customers.

Relaxing get away

Larryanq (Detroit, Michigan) on May 15, 2024

We stayed here in the casitas with a private pool suite from May 9-16 and had a relaxing time. This is a resort for much older folks (60s+) so if you’re looking for the music pumping party time vibe, this is NOT the place for you. Jovanny at the swim up casitas pool kept the drinks flowing and the laughs. We liked that food was served pool-side daily and we didn’t have to go far for grab a bite for lunch. We enjoyed the pizza from room service for a late night snack. Both Italian restaurants were excellent, and breakfast at Cocotal (buffet) had tons of options. The issues we had were with the app. It was essentially useless. You can’t order room service from the app, you can’t request tray pick up’s, and you can’t schedule a massage or anything on it. It is basically just a virtual map and menu for all of the restaurants. We also aren’t crazy about the check out process. Check out from 5-9 at the casitas lounge the day before, then wait in line to request bag pick up, then check out again the morning of departure is a bit overkill. There is a lot of walking here but there’s golf cart shuttles pretty frequently during the day time/dinner hours, but after that be prepared to walk quite a distance to get back to your room. There is nowhere to swim on the beach, but there are nice Bali beds to use. The room side pool was cloudy daily, but we used it anyway. We didn’t take advantage of any of the entertainment (not really our thing) but there were several activities to do throughout the day. Overall, we’d come back here. It’s quiet and relaxing.

Naay Spa

stephaniejL83UG on May 13, 2024

The Naay spa is amazing. Felipe is an amazing masseur. I am super picky about massages and he provides the best I have ever had. I try to book him before even leave the US. My friends agree - Felipe. The best. We have been to the casitas 10 times. And will book next year again.

Great spot to relax and get spoiled!

Fred E (Toronto, Canada) on May 11, 2024

Last day of a week vacation at el Dorado Casitas. First the bad. There is no real beach per se. To swim in the gulf is pretty much impossible. Secondly, the resort is a bit expensive if you upgrade. Now that being said, there is a wonderful walkway for approximately 3km along the gulf and along the length of the resort property. If you were to walk every path in the resort you would probably end up walking 15km. The paths twist and turn throughout this larger resort. We stayed in an Ocean Front Swim Up room. It was exceptional. A one minute walk to the oceanfront bar, one minute to the swim up bar, one minute to the Thai restaurant and one minute to the small beach area and the loungers and cabana we were able to use everyday. Getting loungers was definitely never a problem at the beach or pool pretty much any time of day. The food at all the restaurants was very good.service great and friendly. To get around you get picked up by large golf carts and it was usually a very short wait. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The weather was spectacular this week. They use premium alcohol and have can beer such as Dos Equis and Coors Lite available.A big shout out goes to Randy our pool bartender, Danny the hostess at the Thai restaurant at lunch and Santa Fe restaurant at breakfast, and Alberto our concierge. All three provided excellence in providing great friendly assistance and service. My wife and I agree that we would return to the EL Dorado Casitas Royale.

Poor experience

Jocelyn M on May 07, 2024

Just came back from El Dorado Casitas Royale. I found this resort to have many staff that were racists. The treatment of African American guest verse Caucasian guest was clearly evident on many occasions. One day the staff was serving drinks by the main pool inside of coconuts or pineapples. A friend of mine asked for the drink in a coconut with coconuts right in front of him, he was told there are no more coconuts. He asked well I am looking at a coconut. Another staff had to intervene finally giving him a drink in a coconut. This was one of many incidents. The food is subpar for the price of this resort. We had a concierge by the name of Emiliano in section 31 of the casitas. He was rude and annoyed if we booked anything such as spa treatments without using him. On several occasions we called for room service and they hung up the phone. For whatever reason they did not like to leave wash cloths or enough towels daily in the room. The golf carts stop running at 11pm and this is a rather large resort. They have very little nightly entertainment. The casita pool and pool bar close at 6pm which is early for a resort. I would not recommend this resort at all.
