Emergency apartment construction, lead to pleasant stay. Would recommend this property!

I’m an SF local staying at the property due to emergency construction. Trying something new as I usually stay at the Marquis. I was given room 2915, almost the top floor of the hotel. The room and property felt recently remodeled. My room was spacious and clean. We had a nice view of the star at the top of the beacon grand hotel and Sutro tower when standing at the window. Review as a Marriott loyalist with platinum status: - Front desk staff during check-in was cordial but not personable. - Status was not recognized until I asked if an upgrade was available. (Could be a platinum thing, never had to request when titanium). - The valet, doorman, and staff at the M club were all friendly and helpful. - Doorman was available to take my bags to room (pleasant surprise), helpful so I could have a glass of wine in the lobby bar. - Bed, towels, robes and facilities were clean and comfy. Room had a fridge, safe, and leaking iron. - M club had a beautiful view of Union square (28th floor) and offered, breakfast, evening appetizers (wine/beer for purchase) and dessert. - Breakfast was on par for other Marriott properties of same level - eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt. coffee, juice. Overall, I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend to visitors for business and leisure. TIP: request a room on a high floor facing nob hill (north side) which has unobstructed views after 20th floor.
Needs New Windows and Ditch the Too-Soft Marriot Beds!

This is a well-placed hotel near Union Square and right on the trolley line, if you care to take the trolley. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant/bar is expensive and for some weird reason, even if you are a guest, you cannot pay for breakfast food and take it back to your room. In the last reno, they neglected to put double-pane glass in the windows, so even on high floors you get all the noise up from the street. The outside walls look very thin by modern standards, so that may be part of the problem. The beds are typical Marriot Marshmallow and produce back aches, Despite its issues, this is an OK hotel for the price, but better choices are out there.
