Rooms next to elevator shaft too noisy to get any sleep

Kathleen C on Jun 08, 2025

I have usually had a great experience at Westin hotels, which is why we booked our stay in Whistler at the Westin. Great location, amenities, etc., BUT our room was next to the elevator shaft and we did not get much sleep, even with earplugs. It was terribly noisy, and I don’t think that I can say I would stay there again, nor would I recommend any family or friends to stay, despite the fact that the rest of the stay was positive. We also don’t normally like to complain, but we had to let the front desk know about our experience, she offered to give us a free breakfast, but we were not after getting anything for free, we want Westin to acknowledge that any rooms adjacent to the elevator shaft are too noisy to sleep in, and to fix the noise issue.

Westin ain't what it used to be.

DadCashMad (Vancouver, Canada) on Jun 04, 2025

I'd stayed at the Westin a handful of times in the past and it's always been a great spot. Location, amenities and cleanliness.....but man, time's have changed. The hotel is exhausted. Everything was beat up and not managed like it used to be. We had 2 rooms which cost us $2000 and both rooms were almost-pathetic. The beds felt decades old, the furniture was landfill-worthy and the general upkeep of the room was non-existent. Peeling paint, peeling wallpaper, busted wood trims, dirty kitchen area. The pull-out in my kids room was by far the worst 'bed' I've ever laid down on. The pool was closed for cleaning on a sunny Saturday at 3pm for the hour and a bit we were down there. Hot tub was the only option. A hugely disappointing stay at what once-was the cream of the crop hotel in Whistler. I'd avoid it like the plague until you see "under renovation" or "renovation competed".
