Not a four star hotel.

This is not a four star resort. We have been to Cuba 8 times and this is the worst hotel that I have stayed in. The lobby bar serves your drinks in little plastic cups. The buffet is the same food each night, and salad bar was not great. The pastry chef needs to go (bread and cakes were awful) Ala Cartes are the same food served differently. Bed sheets were never changed, and you had to ask to get your towels changed when the maids were around. Had a third bed in our room, which took up all the space, I asked for it to be removed, never happened. Tried to up sell us on check in for a room nearer the beach but further from the buffet and quiet pool. I said I would sooner be by the quiet pool only to find out that the pool was closed and they never said anything. The room was dated and fixtures were in poor condition, but we had hot water. The bar fridge was empty for the whole week we were there, and they never topped up the shampoo or body wash. On the bright side, the staff were extremely nice and friendly and made our stay quite enjoyable, we took gifts for the maids and gardeners. The quiet pool opened for our last day and the lady in the bar made us some awesome cocktails. The beach was awesome, but that's Varadero for you. This is the second Memories hotel we have stayed at, and would look elsewhere in future.

We stayed at Grand Memories from December 16-23 2025. This was our second stay at this resort with 2 adults and 2 children ages 11 and 16. We had an amazing stay! The best part of our stay was the entertainment team, especially Liliana and Eliecer! These two are not only incredibly friendly but very knowledgeable about Varadero and so willing to share about themselves and their beautiful country. Eliecer is an amazing magician who had us all enthralled with his up-close card magic and coin tricks. Seriously find them if you go and strike up a conversation - two of the most down to earth and friendly people you will ever meet.
