First impressions are awful. This is not a 5 star hotel this is 3 star at best

Truly awful so far. We arrive after 14 hours of travelling, check in and there was an issue with the room. We were told to sit down and wait for complimentary drinks and they would be over in a few minutes. No complimentary drinks so we ordered at the bar. 40 minutes later we go back to the front desk and ask how things were going. Basically they had forgot we were there. We got taken to our “luxury room”. Not sure where the luxury part is and miles away from everything. We then go for dinner on an or inclusive buffet ! Again awful, small selection and food is not great. Ordered a bottle of wine which didn’t turn up until after we had eaten only for the waiter not to be able to take a cork out ! And then we had to pour our own wine. Room had only 1 bath robe and lack of towels which had to be brought up. Still awaiting a second bath robe. Woke this morning to make a coffee to find no milk had been left, called room service and went through to the front desk, he put us through to room service which went to voicemail, the voicemail was full so couldn’t even leave a message. Called back to front desk and was told maybe he is getting breakfast ready. Which our response that’s not really room service. We have had a call back to say they are on their way 10 minutes later and we are still waiting. We are hoping it can only get better

Disappointing to say the least. The majority of the staff did not feel welcoming from start to finish, with the exceptions mentioned earlier. Check-in was particularly poor. We had to wait well beyond the 3pm check-in time, and although we were emailed by Shanofiyah beforehand asking if we were celebrating something special and we responded requesting a small gesture this was completely ignored. The receptionist, Claudine, did not acknowledge it at all. She was also unhelpful and refused to give me my parents’ room number for no valid reason, despite their room being ready. Thankfully, her colleague Christine, who was actually professional, provided the information. We also received no welcome drinks, even though the bar was open. We were told we needed to keep the air conditioning on constantly to avoid condensation, which I challenged because this should be optional—especially as the AC triggered my asthma. The dampness in the room was so severe without it that we eventually had to move rooms. There was a major condensation and mould problem, with mould appearing on the walls, and the AC itself worked poorly. Several other aspects of the hotel were also disappointing. There was no fresh juice available, the buggy service was inefficient we waited over half an hour to be taken to our room and no health and safety signs were put out when it rained, creating a slip hazard. The balconies have no covering, making them unusable in wet weather. At the buffet dinner, there was a noticeable lack of fish options. Room amenities were below standard: the insect-protector screen was cracked, the coffee machine and steamer didn’t work, and the in-room coffee was dated, forcing us to go to the café for a simple cup of coffee. The hotel overall does not seem to cater to Caribbean guests or those who enjoy authentic Caribbean flavours. The food lacked genuine seasoning, and at the Indian restaurant the dishes were either far too salty or oddly sweet, as though sugar had been mixed with the salt. Combined with rude customer service from certain reception staff, it’s clear that there is a serious need for proper training on how to treat paying guests. I will not be returning, no value for money offered nor will I be recommending this hotel.
