Nice resort overall, but misleading “ocean view” and $200 “credit”

This was a nice resort overall but nothing special and I would not return. The staff was pretty apathetic and about as friendly as a fast food cashier. When I checked in, no one escorted me to my room, I was just handed my key with very minimal instructions on how to find my room that ended up being 2 buildings over on this huge resort. My goal for this trip was a quiet week of relaxing from the beach to my hot tub, so imagine my disdain when, as I got closer to my room, I heard increasingly loud music until I opened my door to find my “ocean view” suite was right over top of the party pool. To see the ocean, you had to step onto the balcony and crane your neck to the right. Thankfully I was there during weekdays when it seems to be quiet, but I imagine the weekends would get loud. My other main grip was that the $200 “travel credit” was just a book of $20 off coupons. I know these things are normal misleading claims, but they should still be called out. The food was ok, better than the Platinum Yucantan Princess I stayed at the year before. It was a few steps to the beach and it was easy to get a lounge chair. There was no seaweed when I got there the first day (05/13) but it increased as the week went on. It was a nice, modern resort with updated rooms. Also, on the last day, I realized there was mold growing in the water closet. Overall, I was able to enjoy myself, but I’d been happier if they accurately set expectations.
Enjoyable stay at the Hideaway!

My friend and I stayed from 9/26-9/30 at the Royalton Hideaway in Punta Cana. From the moment we step foot on the resort, the staffs were very nice and attentive to our needs and questions. The check in process was seamless and they offered food/drink as soon as we arrived to the check in desk. The Hideaway is within the resort itself with its own check in area with their own pool, bar and even private restaurant available for the Hideaway guests. We had our own butler Isaias who showed us around the resort and checked in on us on the daily basis. The adult pool area has its own bar with staffs to provide services. I cannot recall the names of the bartenders who were there all of the days providing drinks and picking up glasses around the pool. There were also activity director Jean Paul and Yohana who provided the activities/game/music. They were very friendly. I have participated in the fitness class that was offered: Pilates, yoga and TRX. The instructors Alexander and Juan were very friendly and encourages. The resort is well kept with the staffs constantly doing cleaning throughout the day especially in the early morning hours. There were many restaurants in the resort but will have to make reservation online the day before to ensure seating even though the restaurant was not full but still require reservation. We enjoyed eating at the Dorado which only for Hideaway guests with the view of the beach/ocean. The food was really good and fresh. There were other activities that is scheduled for anyone that wanted to join in. On Monday night, there was the White Party with fire show, face painting and DJ/dancers. We had the option to use the other pools at the resort but we prefer the pool at the Hideaway. Housekeeping came in each day to clean our room and restock water. We enjoyed our stay overall. Con: The sushi at Zen restaurant was not too good. The sushi menu was limited. Most of the sushi had cream cheese in it, which was quite heavy on the stomach.
Great Trip to Royalton Hideaway

My Fiancée and I had a wonderful stay here in May 2025. We upgraded to diamond club and felt the amenities provided were worth the upgrade cost. We booked when there was a promo on and felt we got good value for our money. Some of the facilities were in the process of being upgraded and they are shutting down for a big upgrade from sept to dec 2025. You can see some areas are a but run down but overall its still a lovely resort. The food was great with lots of options and the restaurant food was great, especially the italian and steak house. The beach was lovely and the water was the warmest we’ve ever swam in. The pools were busy but the diamond club pool was quiet enough it was fun and relaxing. The highlight of our trip was our butler Angelica. She was fantastic. She always communicated with us multiple times a day and got us whatever we needed. She was polite, courteous, and always super helpful. Our other butler we saw on the first day and then never heard from again but that barely seemed to matter because Angelica was always there for us. I hope the resort sees this review and is able to acknowledge her as she really goes above and beyond to care for their guests. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels replaced. If we slept in all we had to do was call the front desk and tell them our room was missed earlier and they would send someone shortly after to tidy. Overall we had a great trip and would definitely go back after renovations!
Marriott Bonvoy members beware

The hotel is a nightmare. My bed was unmade, no pillows just a white sheet with hair stuck to it with dirty throw pillows. There is no one at the front desk. The house keeper had to be tracked down by a maintenance worker who was replacing the safe the would not open or lock. 12 hours later… Has yet to be fixed. I booked the trip through Marriott Bonvoy. When no one at the hotel responded to the dirty beds in 2 rooms, I called the Marriott Bonvoy help center. They opened a case. The Marriott should be ashamed to advertise this to Bonvoy members. They did absolutely nothing to resolve this situation. They are sending me an email??? I would highly recommend you stay somewhere else.
