Pleasantly surprised!

We stayed at The Rif resort in January 2025 and I was a bit apprehensive prior to arrival, given the mixed reviews I had read. However, I was pleased with the resort and the amenities offered, which in my opinion, were well worth it. Firstly, definitely stay at The Rif vs Mangrove. Rif guests have access to both resorts and if you prefer a quieter, more easy-going vacation, The Rif is for you. Some perks at Rif include a 24HR beach bar and a multitude of more premium drink and cocktail selections. The rooms were cleaned every day and the bed was quite comfortable. The astetics of the room were quite modern and included a mini fridge stocked with sodas, beers, juices and snacks. This was included in the overall price. Every day the staff came around the rooms around mid-morning with a trolley of selections that you could have taken, to restock your mini fridge supply. Also included on arrival were 4 bottles of water and you could have gotten bottles throughout the resort. The main buffet restaurant is shared between the two properties but Rif guests have a separate seating area and guests here are also served drinks at their tables rather than using the self-serve drink stations, though those were available for us. The Rif had an overall more luxurious feel to the resort. There are many photo worthy spots throughout the resort so ensure you catch those as well as the magnificent sunsets. There's also a water park within the resort, on the Mangrove side, which had slides for both kids and adults as well as a bar and ice cream. Lots of reviews mentioned flies, however this is an island resort with lots of outdoor seating, therefore this is expected. The resort does its best to minimize this, but well...nature. It was not overwhelming not unsafe for the food in any way. The main shopping area, at the Queen Emma bridge is a straight 15 minute walk and very easy to do. Definitely walk if you can as opposed to taking a taxi which can be pricey. Curacao taxis tend to charge per person at minimum USD$5. The resort caters to Europeans and it seems smoking is common for this group so expect to see it throughout the public areas. Overall the staff at The Rif were almost always kind and with a smile, with the odd exceptions. This however did not diminish our stay. The resort promotes accessing their website/app for all things such as reserving dining and requesting amenities. I would say that on the first night we requested two blankets and it never came to the room even until we checked out 5 days later. It was no big deal for us though but be mindful, there is some truth to the non-responsive within the app/web page. I personally would not depend on it for any requests. Reservations are required for all the dinner restaurants and bookings open on each day at 10AM. One can book at the Concierge desk at that time, which can have long lines, but I accessed the App/Web page each day at 10AM and was able to secure reservations to try the 4 restaurants. Just ensure you check each day just at 10AM because it's unlikely you will find availability after that time. There seemed to be 3 seating times for the restaurants: 6PM, 730PM and 9PM. You could even grab reservations for more than one restaurant in one night and vary your seating times as we did. And if all fails, the buffet is available which had a great and different selection each night. Rif guests also have access to Harbour restaurant, which did not require a reservation. Remember to pack European adapters as the resort is 220V. All in all, this was a great stay. Beautiful resort, private beaches, beautiful scenery, clean rooms and welcoming staff. Definitely worth a visit!
Awful all inclusive. NOT ADULTS ONLY
Brynn S on Jan 17, 2025
When we originally booked this hotel it was an adults only resort. They some how decided to change that and there are kids running everywhere. They did not notify us of this change either. Also the reservations are a disaster. You can never make a reservation when you need to because no one is at the desk and the app does not work. Additionally, this is all inclusive and every restaurant limits you on your appetizers. It should not matter what we order. Finally the front desk staff seem lost and confused. This is certainly not a 5 star resort with the hospitality offered here…
