A monster of confusion - not somewhere I would choose to stay again.

danmill2k5 (Flintshire, United Kingdom) on Jan 30, 2025

I wanted to like this hotel, but it wouldn't let me! From the moment we checked in, there was an issue with our booking and we were left at reception for around 20 minutes without being given any indication as to what was going on. Not great after a 10 hour flight! The length of the walk from the main entrance to the Opal Tower was unreal. You had to walk all the way through the casino, then past the shops, exhibition halls and meeting rooms to the elevators. Luckily our room was near to the elevators, but if not, you then have to walk the length of the tower block too. It took us around 10 minutes from the room to the main entrance. We were not offered any help with luggage upon check in or check out either, and having to drag cases across casino carpet for what feels like miles is not fun. Also, having to walk past the exhibition halls is incredibly unpleasant when there is an event on, with people congregating and clogging up the whole corridor, making it take even longer to get to and from your room. The location of the hotel is really not great, miles away from anything and right under the flight path of planes taking off 24/7. It's really hard to get any sleep in this hotel. It also feels so mismatched. It's like a casino was built and then the hotel above, then they stuck these two office looking blocks to either side at a later date, which aren't even in line with each other. Nothing has been thought through when building it. In our room specifically, our curtains wouldn't open (first time I've ever been to a hotel where you couldn't open the curtains!). They make a big deal over their room separating door, but what is the need? Why would I close a huge door to separate the bedroom (with two beds in) from the bathroom and wardrobes? I could understand if it separated the beds to make two bedrooms, but it just closes the bathroom and hallway off from the bedroom. Feels a bit of a gimmick. The bathroom is so annoying! There are no shelves or drawers to store anything, so your toiletries have to live around the sink and get wet. They also don't provide hand towels (we had to use a spare bath towel, flannels and bathmats during our stay). This is a standard thing for a hotel and why they weren't provided is beyond me. There isn't even a hook for a hand towel, so I have no idea how they expect you to dry your hands after washing them...The toilet and shower are in a separate room. The shower door opens outwards, and the external toilet door opens inwards to the narrow space, trapping you inside. You have to squeeze through the shower door and around the toilet to get out, and then close the shower door to get your towel off the bath towel hook. Also, no loo brush provided (WHY???). Getting hot water to the sink was a nightmare in the morning, had to wait with the tap running for 10+ minutes and even then it was only luke warm. It's absolutely evident that this hotel was built and designed with a plan in mind, but clearly hasn't been stayed in by a customer experience team, so is flawed on so many levels. In the bedroom, there is a minibar fridge, but nowhere to store cold drinks or medicine. You can have the minibar emptied, but they charge you $40 to do so. One of the bulbs in the lamps above the bed was out, and we only had a bedside lamp on one side of the room (there was a switch on the other, but it didn't do anything, so obviously it has been removed and not replaced). Also, many of the USB sockets didn't work. There was a lot of dust around, particularly over the air con, bathroom extractor fan and the snacks bar by the TV. There was also a lot of dust in the wardrobe, which covered a pair of black trousers I had with me after putting them on the shelf there. The customer service is pretty non-existent at this hotel, which surprised me for Las Vegas. As well as having no help offered with our luggage, despite the distance, we tried requesting some extra loo roll and tissues through the TV service. We were told someone would be in touch, but no one did and the requested things never arrived. Upon checkout, there was no chit chat or pleasantries. Just "ok, nothing to pay". Not even a thanks for staying, a goodbye or have a safe journey. The vibe of this hotel is not like anything I've ever experienced before. It's loud, lively, pretentious, mismatched and unpleasant. There's no overall theme or brand going through, it just feels like a mish mash of ideas, with minimal customer service and no real direction of what it is or what it wants to be. It's a "resort" that's been added to, again and again, and become a monster of confusion. It feels like it exists without a care and therefore wants you to accept it for all of it's flaws without giving any thought as to how your experience was or what it is providing. I wouldn't choose to stay here again based upon the location, customer service, layout and vibe.

A solo trip

Very clean hotel, spacious room and wonderful friendly staff and some really good restaurants. As a celiac, breakfast was accommodated in the kitchen restaurant and the staff in there were very enthusiastic! The only down fall I would say was there was a adult convention (AVN) on at the hotel and this pretty much took over the hotel, from models using the rooms for content during the day to the very visible police presence at night and being limited to certain areas. Found it particularly challenging at times especially when walls are quite thing and you pretty much hear everything! And this was during the day and early hours in the morning. Saturday morning when vixen media set up a whole studio in the lobby of the hotel to do ‘interviews’. A convention of this kind should be held in a hall rather than a hotel but that’s just my opinion. Besides these issues I have no objections to stay at the hotel again. Also shout out to Gary one of the security staff, a very friendly chap who was more the happy to go out of his way to advise safe areas to go in Las Vegas and attractions to visit, really did appreciate his guidance and he’s a credit to virgin hotel security staff. Also shout out to the staff on the ruby tower check in desks, very helpful with any enquiry it was really nice to have a separate check in area. Thanks you virgin hotel Las Vegas ????

Good first impression but......

markc980 (Leicester, United Kingdom) on Jan 14, 2025

Although the reception area was busy and noisy when we arrived out first impression of the room was very positive. It was very quiet and spacious, with a door seperating the lobby area and bathroom. We were aware that the hotel was well off the strip when we booked, so no complaints on that score. However, there are no coffee making facilities in the room and with the room service staff on strike for the last two months you have to get dressed to get a morning coffee, not really what you want after a late night (this is Vegas). This is made much worse as the hotel doesn't have a coffee shop so you have to go across the road to the Dunkin Donuts. Not what you'd expect for a hotel of this supposed standard. The worst part of our experience was housekeeping. Stayed 5 nights but the room was only serviced twice. It appears putting the "service room" light on has no effect, I even tried asking the housekeepers who happened to be in the corridor to make-up the room as we were going out one day, but still found it not done when we returned. The irony was on the day we were leaving we had arranged a late checkout for 4:00 pm and lit the "do not disturb" sign but on 4 occassions from 9:00 am onwards the housekeepers decided to walk into the room. Not there when you want them, but really keen to see the back of you apparently. Overall not a credit to the Virgin brand.

Very nice room

Lovely place to stay. Everything you need is in the hotel. A full convenience store and Dunkin Donuts along with Nobu and other restaurants. Free parking but you cannot walk to the strip. The bus doesn’t come to the hotel so you will need an uber. The view was great but the protesters blast announcements all night.
