Great location and express pass perks but not a very luxury hotel room
suzecue (West Palm Beach, Florida) on Jan 09, 2025
Great location and express pass perks but this hotel is not a luxury hotel. The rooms are decent, even on the small side, but not bad. The hall ways were being refreshed with plaster and paint and so I believe this is why the hallways weren't properly vacuumed. On the last day, all the work was done, but the hallways still were full of drywall/plaster dust. Perhaps their vacuum cleaner isn't working well. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The counterpanes seemed worn though and the carpeting has seen better days. The room had not been properly vacuumed or dusted prior to our arrival. We paid for three adults but the coffee was set up with two coffee pods, on tea pod and one decaf coffee pod with four creamers. I texted for more at the front desk and they brough up three of each with lots of creamers and sugars. We were given four large bath towels, no face cloths and four hand towels. The next day the maid left two bath towels and three hand towels. We texted the front desk and they brought up two more towels, a bath mat and a face cloth. We were fine with that. We at Jakes Bar, at the hotel and ordered the family style brisket. It was very tasty and we ate it all, but it was luke warm, at best, verging on cold. We didn't send it back but did let the server know that we would have preferred it hot. We made full use of the express passes and early entry at the Universal parks. This was the full reason to book at this hotel. Overall, our stay was okay. I think next time we will only book for one night and take advantage of the two days of early entry and express passes for two days, they stay at another less expensive hotel for the first and last night of a three day visit. We really only needed two full days at the park to ride all the rides and see what we wanted to see.
Very good, but be aware of some drawbacks on Club Level
Taylor1993 (Maryland) on Jan 04, 2025
I’ve been a guest at this property every year since 2019 and I always reserve a Club Level room. My recent stay was a few weeks ago and I plan to return this year. The advantages of staying at this property are well documented elsewhere (e.g., on-site property within walking distance of Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando, Universal City Walk, and Early Admission). My experience with the staff (front desk, housekeeping, and Club Level Lounge) has been very positive. Everyone was courteous and helpful. My review is focused on the positives and some drawbacks to staying in one of the Club Level rooms in Tower 3 on the 7th floor. Positives. Access to the Club Level Lounge with daily snacks, beverages, and small but tasty buffets for breakfast and dinner. The rooms are well appointed, clean, and comfortable (some have shower/tub combinations while others have only a shower). Negatives. Exclusivity: The Club Level has lost some of its exclusiveness. A decision was made to expand the number of rooms with Club Level privileges. This means some of the rooms on the 6th floor are also “Club Level” and that translates into crowding in the Club Level Lounge. You may have to wait in line for the buffet. Also, I understand the hotel sometimes offers Club Level privileges as an “add on” to all guests. Not a big issue, but one of the reasons I choose to stay on the Club Level is for a quiet respite from the crowds and long lines at the parks. Inconsiderate guests: Other reviews have mentioned an issue with noise related to the room doors slamming. I agree. The slamming of doors is very disruptive to relaxation and/or sleep. The doors slam because some guests are not mindful when they enter/exit their room. Meaning, they do not hold on to the door handle to ensure a quiet close. They walk away/enter and allow the door to slam shut. It is incredibly loud. At times, the housekeeping staff is guilty of doing the same thing, but you can make a discrete call to housekeeping to request an end to the slamming of the doors. Perhaps the engineering team can look into installing door closers (a mechanical device that uses a spring-loaded mechanism to control the speed of a door's closing motion, preventing it from slamming shut). Another issue is inconsiderate parents who allow their young children to thunder down the hallways while screaming. I get it, the children are excited to be there. However, I wish the parents who allow their children to do this would teach them how to use their “inside” voice and proper etiquette while staying in a hotel. The hallway noise is amplified in the guest rooms. To be fair, this problem is not the fault of the hotel. The Loews Royal Pacific Resort is still my hotel of choice when visiting Universal Studios Orlando.
