Reno done wrong
pollardha (Boone, Iowa) on Apr 20, 2024
The Hyatt Gainey Ranch has been our happy place for a decade. No more. They are undergoing a massive renovation focused on sucking the soul out of a beautiful resort. Where we used to discover chill luxury we now encounter superficial stupidity. The pool has day passes where anyone can come use the facilities we PAID FOR. Needless to say, it attracts the WORST. I seriously felt like we were at a municipal pool. Kids everywhere. I literally cried our first day here. We have two more days and I can’t wait to leave. The reno (which was not disclosed to us when we booked and recourse has been provided to us) is relinquishing beautiful character in its decor for 2010s circa Joanna Gaines style awfulness. I hate it. Our room is 60% the size of any room we have ever stayed in here and had long, dark hair in the bathroom and a used Q-tip! I have blonde hair…. The plumbing was installed backwards and the front desk staff were awful. I’m so sad. Stay away. We definitely will.
Avoid until 2025!

AVOID AVOID AVOID this hotel until AFTER October 2024 unless you like your desert vacation filled with construction banging, major dust, and walking through construction zones on the way to your room. The noise starts at 8 and goes ALL day. The pools were also very cloudy. Not sure what that is about. If you booked through a 3rd party you wouldn’t have received any warning about this. The noise, sawing and banging is EVERYWHERE. The staff is doing the best they can, but Hyatt you have put your employees in a no win situation. People are complaining, checking out early or not checking in at all. I saw numerous people turn around and leave the hotel. Shame on you Hyatt for charging a normal room rate for this. Kudos for the staff and hotel managers for trying to do right by their guests. They are clearly exhausted dealing with pissed off guests and I don’t blame them!
