Thanksgiving vacation with family

Excellent location and beautiful resort. We loved all the servers. Octavio was so great by the pool. I wish I knew the other waiters name who served us for dinner many times and it was such an enjoyable experience. We feel so grateful for the family time together and the amazing servers.
Resort has changed, renovations impacting stay and poor service/food. Will not return !

Sad to have to write this review but I would NOT recommend this resort. We came here 5 years ago and loved it, it has since had new management/ownership and it has gone very downhill. We booked through Costco travel and were told Renos were been done in the lobby until End of October. We arrived Nov 15th to the lobby completely closed, they are using a hotel room as the lobby and this leads to a very unsafe walkway to the main pool and restaurants. It has uneven ground, is beside a pool and has stairwell with no handrail, this lead to my mother falling as it's poorly lit and hard to navigate at night. There is no way for strollers or elderly to get down other than these stairs. Service at the restaurants especially Omaggio is very poor, long waits, food coming out uncooked or at different times, very limited menu and food options. We had two dinners where one person in our party waited 45 mins for their meal after everyone else was served. We actually ate off property a few times even though we paid all inclusive because the food and service were ruining our trip. There is no more bottle or canned beer, only draft for all inclusive guests, no bottled water available. The emotions marivall is no better, their lobby and restaurants closed as well. Really disappointing given the price and star rating. Despite that we had some great servers/staff who are also sadly really impacted by these changes and new management. Carlos, Elian, Alexis, Amberto, Alfredo and Felis were all amazing to us, trying to help compensate for the lack of service and food options available. We spoke to family after family and owners there during our 9 day trip who agreed how poor the food and service is how and how much the resort has changed. We will not be returning to a marival resort and have followed up with Costco travel as well as families should be made aware of the disruptions to the renovations at the resort and how this may impact their stay there.
Marival Distinct Visit

Booked this trip via Costco Travel Services. It was my first all inclusive and this resort did not disappoint at all. We booked a two bedroom suite and the room was amazing. The in-room washer/dryer combo was an added bonus. We took full advantage of all the amenities like room service, pool side service and all inclusive restaurants. The food and drinks were top tier. We spent most of our time by the pool next to Lemon Grass. We had the pleasure of being assisted by Elian and I highly recommend you look out for Elian if you want to be treated like a true VIP. Elian made sure we were comfortable and we always had a drink in hand. I would highly recommend this place if you want a quiet ambiance with luxury feel.
Marival needs lessons in service to Members

As long time members we were very disappointed. It seems that every time we go they have taken another membership benefit away. Now we have to pay to sit in a Cabana on the beach and at the same time there are far less beach chairs. The restaurants are average and the ones at emotions were all closed for Reno's. Why they wouldn't do Reno's in the summer is beyond me. All this and the price keeps going up. We used to enjoy this resort but whoever is running Marival needs a lesson in service. Whatever you do DON'T get sucked into a membership. Once they have your several thousand dollars they break most of the promises they make to get you in.
Renovation impacted vacation

I booked this vacation with my points from RCI and would highly recommend people stay away from this resort as an RCI exchange. I was very disappointed with the value. When we visited the lobby was closed for renovations which meant we had to be in a tiny room at check in and it was very busy. It was difficult to hear the check in girl. Which I believe we ended up missing some valuable information. There was only two options for dinner and a sky bar for tapas. There is no place to meet with friends to have drinks and relax at night. For the price paid for the all-inclusive I would recommend a different resort it is way over priced. Mozzamare has a good breakfast and lunch and then the sky bar has a good tapas menu. We ate mostly at the sky bar as we didn’t care for the dinner menu at the two other restaurants. The bracelet they make you wear slides off and the charge is $35usd to replace which we had to replace as they come off so easily and we lost one in the ocean. They do not provide water bottles. You bring your own water bottle and can fill it up at water stations provided on each floor. Don’t expect the maids to fill your fridge with drinks or snacks even if you leave a tip and a note requesting more. The bellboys and wait staff are all very nice and provide great service!
