Convenient & comfortable downtown Playa stay

Spent a week at The Fives Downtown and almost everything was great. Stayed on the second floor with a view of the living wall and courtyard (with turtles). The room was spacious and comfortable, with a small balcony where we spent a lot of time. Ample storage, sofa, chairs & small table. Bed very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. Elevators were a bit slow, but we eventually figured out where the stairs let out in the lobby and used those. The complimentary breakfast for Hilton Honors members was so good - an excellent buffet of options, cold and hot, coffee and tea brought to your table, fresh fruit & juice. The check-in process for breakfast takes a little getting used to, but it’s worth it. Went to happy hour at El Tigre every evening (also free for HH members) - Javier is an excellent bartender and will take good care of you (so take good care of him!). Location was great for those truly wanting to experience downtown Playa - walking distance to 5th Avenue, the beaches, and lots of good restaurants off the beaten path. The tour desk in the lobby arranged several great tours for us at fair prices, listened to what we wanted, and steered us well. The only amenity we were a little disappointed in/confused by was the rooftop pool area. It’s a beautiful spot, though the furniture could use an update, but we often had trouble getting good service in this one area of the hotel. Not sure why. Despite that, we will definitely stay at the Fives on our next visit to Playa!

Very good hotel in fantastic location about 50 metres from a sandy beach. Rooftop pool excellent, as is the rooftop bar and the restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Special mention to Cristina for being extremely helpful. Hotel is close to a fantastic array of restaurants and bars. Very enjoyable vacation. Would return.
