Mixed feelings

E P (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) on Jan 09, 2026

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The hotel was very nice and the food was good, but, our experience could have been much better. The hotel was very expensive and I think it’s very bad business to have their staff follow you around all day everyday to try to get you to come to a sales presentation. If someone says no, that means no. It makes for a very uncomfortable experience. I was also very disappointed in the slow service at our meals. We waited 1-2 hours for lunch everyday. That took away from our beach time. There were no snacks available in between meals which was very disappointing. Meal portions were on the small side. I found myself hungry without being able to get anything. It would have been nice to get some ice-cream or something but they didn’t have any. It was also difficult to get lounge chairs. Everyone puts their towels down and then never shows up. My family and I had to split up, we couldn’t get chairs together. With all of that being said, I would still recommend the hotel. Just be aware it’s not a typical all inclusive hotel.

Very relaxing stay with top notch amenities and service

maryllmoon (Naperville, Illinois) on Dec 19, 2025

Our only regret about our 4-night stay was that it wasn't a few more nights. We loved that it was quiet, and spent a lot of time soaking up the view of the beach from our room's balcony with its own private hot tub. The hotel's "butler service" made our stay completely effortless. Candido brought us each a hot "lunch box" on the mornings we left early on excursions, made us our restaurant reservations, reserved lounge chairs by the infinity pool, and handled our transportation needs. There were a couple of maintenance issues with our room's amenities and he also did the troubleshooting for us on those to our satisfaction. A couple of reviews have mentioned long waits to be seated for dinner. We never had a moment's wait, and I never saw any one else waiting to be seated either, although I'm told that mid-December is high season there. We thought the food was delicious, and a longer stay would have been a welcome opportunity to sample more of the variety of offerings. We had a lobster dinner that absolutely knocked our socks off, and the Caribbean flavors on offer at the Romarley Beach House were very authentic. The house wine (Sauvignon Blanca and 3 other options) was delicious and included at no cost, so we never felt the need to buy a bottle of something else. The resort is beautiful. The location is amazing. The food and service are great. Don't hesitate to take it all in on your next trip to Puerto Morelos!

New hotel management in 2025- not good.

Islandtraveler_Keoni (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Dec 14, 2025

There is no ill will nor malicious intention on this review. This was our 4th stay and unfortunately it would be our last. Since 2022, we have been visiting this hotel every year and have seen it's downfall with a new management take over in 2024/2025. Upon the new management take over the superb gastronomy and craft cocktail experience this hotel once had took a downfall. 1. Food under new management: No menu for any Mexican food except for guacamole and beans (no traditional favorites i.e. NO TACOS, QUESSADILLAS, ENCHILLADAS, ..even basic salsa....NONE). Although the Italian restaurant for Dinner is a 4/5 stars, we were shocked to the food menu changes. 2. Mixology/cocktails under new management: New bartender staff seem to lack the training and expertise of the previous mixologists who curated a cocktail menu that was perfection. Today: craft cocktails and the former unique mixology drink menu no longer not exists and customers are left just experience sugary/pedestrian bar drinks. 3. Upstairs rooftop restaurant/bar ADULTS ONLY SECTION: Under the new management same comments in section 1 &2 above. In years past there was chill lounge/down beat music, an elevated mixology drink menu, and a breakfast-lunch menu that was delicious and had mexican food options that were beautifully curated. Today in 2025, its all been reduced /removed; even the music system was not working at the time so no chill down tempo music. 4. STAFF AND ROOM: All the staff are great, hard working, courteous, and welcoming. Rooms were always pristine and kept clean. But under the new management, we observed and heard they replaced the highly skilled bartenders/mixology staff for lower waged work force who were underskilled....it was apparent. 5. BEWARE OF CONDO OWNERS IN THIS HOTEL (KAREN ALERT): The hotel is a timeshare - We encountered negative experiences with the older aged condo owners who had an arrogance/entitlement with the resort amenities i.e. taking prime spots in beach chairs early in the a.m, controlling the music selection with DJ who occassionally appeared on the beach, and were talking so loudly amongst themselves and boasting about their condo ownership; overall they acted like OLDER KARENS! But they were too cheap to buy drinks at the bar and brought their own in a plastic flask?I dont want to see/hear that kind if attitude-rhetoric on my vaca.
