Service was hit or miss, didn't meet expectations overall

We spent 4 nights here just before Thanksgiving. We stayed in an Ocean View room at the Nizuc, but visited Sunrise and The Grand several times. So my review will be a general review for all 3 resorts. First, we stayed as a guest of a member with black VIP bands, which meant absolutely nothing during the stay. After initially declining their sales pitch, they kept increasing the free stuff so we decided to do the 90 minute presentation. We got day passes to The Grand for 2 days and $500 spa credit. They keep sending person after person after person. Even when you say no, they just keep on going. You have to be firm. Then when I was finally checking out, the guy checking me out tried to sell me on another week. They just would not stop. Later during our stay, twice we would get stopped in the lobby for similar sales pitches and would have to explain we've already done it. This got VERY annoying. I want to enjoy my stay, not feel like you are selling me something ALL the time. We enjoyed the food most at Jade and Momo, both were excellent! I didn't love Circus, although my daughter did obviously. The breakfast buffet was okay. Be sure to try the eggs benedict at the omelette station, I was very impressed. The biggest issue with restaurants was the wait for the food. It seemed to take forever to get your food. We had a 7:30 reservation for Cantina. We weren't seated till 7:50. We ordered, but our food didn't come out till 8:35. And we were trying to make the 8:45 show. Just slow service all around everywhere. We did use The Grand passes and enjoyed the water park and the buffet there. My 8 year old daughter loved the water park. We ordered food from our chairs, and it came our very quickly. Our server was great and looked after us at the water park. Issues in the room: ants in the room bath tub. Where did they even come from!? We had a do not disturb sign up from the moment we stepped in. We don't like to be bothered or even have the room cleaned while we are there. My wife was in the shower when she heard the door open and started calling my name with no reply. She quickly finished and came out half naked to see housekeeping in our room, despite the DO NOT DISTURB sign. She apologized and left. But this is unacceptable! Later on, again with the sign up, someone came knocking to ask for dishes. WTF. DO NOT DISTURB means DO NOT DISTURB. I filed a complaint with Public Relations and they said they would look into to and said sorry. She offered me flowers to make up for it. Flowers. What am I going to do with flowers on my vacation? She made no effort to offer me anything worthwhile. I just laughed and left at how awful the service was. They told me someone would follow up with me, but nobody ever did. Not surprised. This shouldn't be happening, and if it does, then go out of your way to make it right! As the sales guy said to me, "this is the Ferrari of resorts!". But after staying at many resorts in Cancun and Mexico, I can assure you it was not the Ferrari of resorts. I would never become a member here after my experience. On 2 nights, there were weddings/parties held outside our building. LOUD music was blaring from 4pm-10pm straight. We did leave the room but were in and out. My daughter found it difficult to sleep with the noise. We left tips after every meal and for just about every drink. We tried to be helpful and easy going to all the employees. I did use the spa at The Grand for a massage and that was a great experience. The back room, the sauna, the steam room, the relaxing room, the decor, etc it was all fabulous and very high end. Make sure to get a drink at the spa. The massage itself was great also. Very nice experience! In conclusion: spotty service, mostly good food that took a long time to get, a nice water park and spa. But with the issues we had and the lack of care we got, I just cannot see myself coming back.
Great service! Good food too!

Luis Alberto Martinez Gonzales was our favorite waiter in the resort. Hotel Nizuc Luis works at the Palapas Delfina’s by the Nizuc poolside
